I just ordered 8gb crucial for my 2011 mini from amazon and it was only $44 !!! and $51 directly from crucial. I don't get what the deal is, memory has apparently dropped a ton, I mean it was the same price for the different and newer ram for the 2011 mac mini. Either everything has dropped for good or this is a really good time to get ram!
@davomrmac The price has really gone don in just under a year which helps only being 13. Also do you still use it to edit and upload video and do you use iMovie or FinalCut to edit your videos and create opening titles? Thanks
Just be very careful that you DO NOT tear the ribbon off when doing this or you will lose your sound. And check the two little wires in the back that are connecting your hard drive.
@brainiac777 That RAM is more than likely a bottle of crap. Additionally, Mac RAM comes very specifically. Unless you buy from Crucial or Other World Computing, I definitely recommend keeping away.
I wish I had watched this video before I purchased my Mini, I ordered it with 4g ram. could have saved some money doing it myself. Also, It would be nice if they would tell people that it comes with a dvi adapter, I wouldn't have bought one along with the machine.
Brave Apple for finally making the mac mini memory accessible. Do your own memory upgrade and save $200.... why is Apple's memory add-on so bloody overpriced?
can the mac mini even take advantage of this 8gbs ram or would the other components still slow it down? i have the mac mini and i know it supports 8gbs but im wondering if its worth it to purchase 8gbs or same some money and just get 4gbs
@bdashiz 4GB is fine for most tasks, the Mini can take advantage of the 8GB and it would be useful if you want to keep say your browser and mail running, then also work on Photoshop and video editing at the same time.
@davomrmac thanks so much cause price has come down and if i upgrade the memory myself it wil save me £180 so being 13 and all i can do that to save money got my brother to use his student discount as wanna get it as low and high tec as possible and would you say the upgrade is easy to do ?
hi this is to the @davomrmac well if you upgrade the memory does it void your warrenty? cause your technicly "tampering" with it cause it will save me a lot of money if it doesent void the warrenty? please reply soon ?
@TheBondiBoi No, memory is a user accessible part and thus you do not void the warranty. However, if your Mac Mini then goes wrong, the memory you installed is not covered and if you physically broke the memory slots or poked the circuit board or something like that, they would refuse to fix it under warranty.
@sop8alk1n Well, your computer should be switched off and not plugged in whilst doing the RAM upgrade, so it'll be on a fresh start anyway. Nothing else is needed.
I really want a mac mini or any other half decent mac from the last few years.
All i got at the moment is an imac g3 which compared to my 2 PC's is no good nowadays but this mini would be perfect for most computing tasks even without the memory upgrade.
wow, they don't ship to the USA? thats stupid...

@MrMusicalmatt prices just wildly fluctuate even on a monthly basis and this video was a year ago. I know what you mean though.
