  • wow, they don't ship to the USA? thats stupid...

  • I just ordered 8gb crucial for my 2011 mini from amazon and it was only $44 !!! and $51 directly from crucial. I don't get what the deal is, memory has apparently dropped a ton, I mean it was the same price for the different and newer ram for the 2011 mac mini. Either everything has dropped for good or this is a really good time to get ram!

  • Did you say nearly £300!!! It's only £57 (incl. VAT) now.

  • @MrMusicalmatt wow memory prices fluctuate, amazes me.

  • @davomrmac I'm just saying that I am surprised. If it is good quality Ram, why drop the price by £243?

  • @MrMusicalmatt prices just wildly fluctuate even on a monthly basis and this video was a year ago. I know what you mean though.

  • @MrMusicalmatt Its only £33 now! haha :P

  • Could you replace the ram with 8gb ddr3 at 1333mhz or does it have to stick with the 1066mhz.?

  • couldn't you have bought a faster laptop for less ?

    hahaha

  • @amanamanamanaman Faster, yes, but an Apple, no.

  • @davomrmac Perhaps

    Macbook is cheaper

  • ROFLMFAO I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE MACTINI LAPTOP LOL

  • @davomrmac The price has really gone don in just under a year which helps only being 13. Also do you still use it to edit and upload video and do you use iMovie or FinalCut to edit your videos and create opening titles? Thanks

  • @TheTechOnline Editing is Adobe Premiere Pro at the moment, intros in After Effects.

  • Does it run faster with 8gb ram??

  • @nick6995 Yes.

  • Just be very careful that you DO NOT tear the ribbon off when doing this or you will lose your sound. And check the two little wires in the back that are connecting your hard drive.

  • Can I change the 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and put the i7 instead on this mac mini? how about an SSD?

  • @FreddieTL Processor to hard to swap, SSD is a possibility.

  • Will it void the warranty

  • @nazhif1 No.

  • Please Reply!

I just got a mac mini and i was wondering if i can get a mini display port to vga and hook the mac mini up to my older dell monitor

  • @IpodTouchapps3000 Should work fine.

  • That ram is still way too overpriced, I jsut found this on ebay: bit. ly/fUdhcE for £84.

  • @brainiac777 That RAM is more than likely a bottle of crap. Additionally, Mac RAM comes very specifically. Unless you buy from Crucial or Other World Computing, I definitely recommend keeping away.

  • @brainiac777 74 from crucial now :D

  • what is the mac mini

  • thanks mate, you've saved me a big mistake!

  • @thestrugglewithin Glad the video helped. Thanks for watching.

  • I wish I had watched this video before I purchased my Mini, I ordered it with 4g ram. could have saved some money doing it myself. Also, It would be nice if they would tell people that it comes with a dvi adapter, I wouldn't have bought one along with the machine.

  • @petiekas Thanks for your comment.

  • Nice Video i am going to purchase a mac mini and going to save thank to you .

  • @JOSE75214 Thanks for watching.

  • Brave Apple for finally making the mac mini memory accessible. Do your own memory upgrade and save $200.... why is Apple's memory add-on so bloody overpriced?

  • Thanks for the video.

  • @kkay2000 Glad you watched.

  • can the mac mini even take advantage of this 8gbs ram or would the other components still slow it down? i have the mac mini and i know it supports 8gbs but im wondering if its worth it to purchase 8gbs or same some money and just get 4gbs

  • @bdashiz 4GB is fine for most tasks, the Mini can take advantage of the 8GB and it would be useful if you want to keep say your browser and mail running, then also work on Photoshop and video editing at the same time.

  • @davomrmac thanks so much cause price has come down and if i upgrade the memory myself it wil save me £180 so being 13 and all i can do that to save money got my brother to use his student discount as wanna get it as low and high tec as possible and would you say the upgrade is easy to do ?

  • @TheBondiBoi Very easy indeed.

  • hi this is to the @davomrmac well if you upgrade the memory does it void your warrenty? cause your technicly "tampering" with it cause it will save me a lot of money if it doesent void the warrenty? please reply soon ?

  • @TheBondiBoi No, memory is a user accessible part and thus you do not void the warranty. However, if your Mac Mini then goes wrong, the memory you installed is not covered and if you physically broke the memory slots or poked the circuit board or something like that, they would refuse to fix it under warranty.

  • are crucial products compatible with hp laptops?? i'm thinking of buying a '8GB RAM' from crucial for 'HP Pavilion DV4'

  • @ilovetodayy Yes, they are.

  • Hi Dave, Do I need to do anything after I upgrade the rams, I mean like reboot or restart computer? Thank you

  • @sop8alk1n Well, your computer should be switched off and not plugged in whilst doing the RAM upgrade, so it'll be on a fresh start anyway. Nothing else is needed.

  • why is the memory i buy green and apples memory blue lol?

  • 8gb is so expensive, though. =\

  • @SenoreQueso 8GB is expensive, but you can go up to 5GB for just $126 from Other World Computing.

  • what about HDD upgrade?

  • @rollthetape88 It is possible to swing the hard drive out, but Apple have taped sensors to it so it'll prove very difficult.

  • Thanks for the upgrade tutorial Dave.

  • Easiest update I've ever seen. Not a screwdriver in sight.

  • Im always back to see nices reviews =D

  • I really want a mac mini or any other half decent mac from the last few years.

All i got at the moment is an imac g3 which compared to my 2 PC's is no good nowadays but this mini would be perfect for most computing tasks even without the memory upgrade.

  • can you do a video where you plug it into your tv and do a resolution test because i want to see if its anybetter than my laptop

  • @bogmonsterattacks It will be more or less the same, except Apple gave the Mac Mini some overscan settings to expand the picture over HDMI.

  • @davomrmac thanks!

  • Hello Dave are you planning to do a review on the new Iphone 4 sometime soon?

  • @Maddawg2012 Waiting for UPS to deliver it.

  • Number 1 lucky you for getting the free ram

Number 2 on the iPhone when you go to rate and comment they still have 5 stars ...

  • new iphone today mate!!! england and the usa won ! greatest day ever well almost lol !looking forward to your iphone review =]

  • It's silly how they say 'Oh yeah, 4GB is the highest recommended.' Silly really :P

    Cool install :)

  • are you getting the new iphone

  • @thomasmovesinc Waiting in today :)

  • when i saw the unboxing i was thinking why is this guy only getting 2GB? but then i though he must be upgrading! Great vid
