  • @Madadict

    nooooo its not feasible >:O

  • @khoroshoorange

yeah i know, but that's why it's what i "want," i'm not saying it's an easy road.

  • @Madadict

    i was being sarcastic.

  • The clash are legends and crass is sick. just thought id put that out here.

  • They said that we were trash, but the name is CRASS not CLASH

  • actually, they started the punk movement

no fuss, just say what's it all about

  • shite

  • breed out the white race.. white littel boe 6 or a black man. 9..... impreganate white vermin hoes. an punch whitew boys.. they will act like they cool with blak or hispanic, or asian.. dont let the vermin coward boy fool you.. punch him real hard in the face... dance with the white ho an put a baby in her... the browning if america.. evem white coward boy pay to watch us do thier vewrmin

  • Punk Rock (70's-80-s) will never die, there will never be a replacement of its kind. Speaks the truth through music that very few bands ("outcasts") dare to advocate in today's world of fear and manipulation and control. Mainstream so called talent or "one hit wonders" these days is beyond pathetic, rarely does any one write their own music or play an instrument for that matter, its all electronic crap. The music industry then blames "downloaders" for the monetary losses. Punk is Dead!

  • @TheDeadJustice all white girls love black dick... punch white boys in the face real hard.. an impregnate whiote vermin hoes.. isnt it so sexy...... have as many haf breed ss as we can. i love it then they rite bak an say lern how to spel... when 9 ye old brown kids on spelin bees wuld tel them the dsame.... the browniong pf usa.. an world... so sexy.. punch white boy in facdfe.. impregnate white vermin ho

  • @voodoo9606 You are an idiot.

  • no trash... no clash... THE CRASS

  • yes punk is dead and so is rock and roll and so is disco and so is metal etc etc. and we are left with a white man who thinks he can rap(lol), justin beaver and lady gag reflex. fukin shit they should team up and jump in the pool of medriocrity and indifference

  • @tamaria6564 lady gaga is punker than you faggot

  • i really like how you used the term "punks not dead" in a crass video

  • I gledged during this. : )

  • I like the lyrics ...."They said that we were trash,

Well the name is Crass, not Clash.

They can stuff their punk credentials

Cause it's them that take the cash." man FUCK THE CLASH !

  • @Daryn031

u hate the clash because crass told u too? but let me guess exploited and sex pistols are okay because steve didnt tell ya right?

  • @MasterMarf

I don't hate the Clash at all . Is that what I said ??? Well I'm sorry . Its just allot of my friends love the clash and My Father also basically raised me on the clash .. But I have never been a big fan . I like a few songs though . And respect them for their great contribution to the world of Punk rock and Ska music. . You have no idea how many times I have been in arguments about this . If you like punk , then /people expect you to like the clash Automatically .

  • This song is bullshit, it sounds raw but the viwes exppressed about antifascism are total bollox.

  • dont fool urself with ur white liberal shit...u c jus we niggas 2 da rulerz of this land...ha ha ha

  • I am a die-hard Clash fan, yet still I have to say that the lyrics are brilliant, but I find the song itself rather weak, it lacks power.

But anyway, since I am a die-hard Clash fan I have to say something to all you people who call them sell-outs. And I'll try to be reasonable. Now I understand completely what people mean when they say that the Clash sold out, but that's not the whole truth...

  • ... Yes, they did play at the big festivals and big arenas, but they still were true to their to their original ideas, maybe with a touch of irony, but just listen to some of Joe Strummer's speeches from their US fest gig from the year 1982. And also the Clash called it a day pretty soon after they hit major success. Now I must sound like just a die-hard fan ranting, but that's how it is. To me, the Clash stayed true to their ideology, even though they did get big.

  • @JoesRamone The Clash were completely genuine, made next to nothing in the end, they cared about their fans more than anything else. Hated fake bands and fake punk. My favorite band ever for those reasons.

  • @relaxingmusic101

yeah, but they became just another pop band, shame,

  • @adeworks

also.... have you any idea how much honesty it showed for crass to criticize the clash at the time? They clearly said what they thought regardless of the consequences.

  • @adeworks I consider Topper/Mick leaving to be when The Clash ceased to exist. Joe wanted to hold onto his band but reality eventually hit him. Each one of them stayed true to their ideals until the end. Joe never stopped being genuine even until he died.

  • @relaxingmusic101 they sold out at the very start! they were capitalist puppets

  • @TheYazoo321 You don't know what your talking about. Capitalist? The Clash were one of the most left wing groups that have ever existed. They hated capitalism

  • @relaxingmusic101 the sad thing about this comment is that even steve ignorant said that when he saw the clash in their early days he had nothing but great things to say about them. They spoke out against the system and they were the inspiration for Steve to be in a band. Sadly, however, they ended up selling out every chance they got and Steve & Penny started speaking out against them for being fakes. just another shamble for a buck.

  • @dustnbones99 That's only if you consider the Clash still being around after Mick left and Topper was kicked out. I realize that by name they went downhill, I don't think it was because Joe wanted money but because he wanted his dream band to stay alive. Years later in another interview he ended up saying The Clash was over when Mick left, and that without his former members he was trying to hold onto something he couldn't.

But throughout life the Clash themselves remained genuine.

  • Any band that opens a song by telling the Clash to "Stuff it!" is awesome in my book!

  • well in my town people dress punk and whole fuckng time they are drunk.... in my state more than 50% cost of alcohl goes to the government

  • ahaha i love how literal the video is x)

  • I felt safer with Bush,

  • Crass were right.

The Clash set themselves up, under Bernie Rhodes, as leaders of a leftwing punk movement which was not compromise with big business, and which promoted political morality, see esp. the film Rude Boy for the critique of the Soviet Union BUT

'I'm so bored with the USA' ? Five minutes later, they were there, playing stadiums & behaving like the rock stars they claimed to despise. Just because they knocked out a good tune (and they did) shouldn't blind people to their faults.

  • @johnnyvicious2 I think that was about American foreign policy, it didn't preclude them from playing shows there.

  • @hschan4 Yep, spot on. I agree. I think the point I was trying to convey (badly) was really more about them becoming a rock band and everything that went with that. Going to America was only part of that. Then again, the argument goes that they could influence more people that way, but the political content of the songs definitely fell off, and although there was still a message there, it kind of got overshadowed by the medium they were operating in. A vastly important band though.

  • @johnnyvicious2 Agreed.

  • "liberal wanker" hahah I loved it.

  • the clash didn't make any cash of their albums. they survived off royalty money later in life for all the people who covered their songs and put them in movies etc. so fuck off about they were just in it for money. you're all ignorant but just because you heard from a little bird that joe's father was a diplomat you think you can make ridiculous assumptions. still haven't got how someone can be a fake just cos their parents had a couple of spare dimes.

  • Wow what a great video, well done m8! Ohh and what a classic song from a classic bunch of REAL people (i wont use the word 'band')

Its great that the 'sheep' below like prodigalson 56' dont get it, and never will (your a closet case m8!)

  • man, I've never worn a mohawk, tartan or put a safety pin through but I consider myself punk. Moreso than any of these little dress up punks.

    Punks a mindset!

  • punk voter???

  • @negativecreep420 i was just about to say the same thing :/

  • time to redo it now that there is a new prez

  • Alright, that Clash bit was unneeded. e-e

  • @m1n0rrthr3at Not really if you know what they stood for... Bunch of spoilt middleclass twits. They were the socialist version of Skrewdriver, trying to brainwash people with their politics.

  • @prodigalson56 Hardly spoilt. And I don't consider it brainwashing when they're just getting their views out there. Socialist? Maybe you should listen to Clampdown. But I understand where you're coming from.

  • @m1n0rrthr3at No mate The Clash really were from rich middleclass families esp Joe Strummer, he was essentially a fake... I'm familar with Clampdown, not really my bag. Personally I prefer the crust type of stuff like Darkthrone's most recent CD's.

  • @prodigalson56 Lol no, I wasn't saying you should listen to Clampdown because you'd like it, I mean it has a message in it that you should hear. And honestly, does it matter what type of families they were from? They don't stand for the same things as Crass, nor do they have the same morals, so they don't need to comply with the lifestyle of you and/or Crass.

  • @prodigalson56 only Joe was brought up to a well off family. and anyway, when he moved out he went straight on the dole and lived in a squat and never made any money off the clash deliberately so the fans could buy their music cheap. what in that makes him a fake?

  • most of the video is great... but some parts are just downright incorrect... for example, "it was just a form of fascism for the socialist elite" steve ignorant wasn't ignorant enough to think fascism and socialism were the same, he said SOCIAL elite, while they're both about as wrong (fascism and socialism) the government is far more fascist than socialist and he knew that. Awesome, unique diy portrayal though, make more!

  • why does a picture of Stalin come up on "left wing violence, right wing violence all seems much the same,"? Stalinism is clearly totalitarianism which is obviously right wing. Sorry it bothers me when people say Stalin is a left wing communist! or even just a communist

  • that's true, but he claimed communist and you can't blame anybody for ignorance, you can only blame their leaders (if even them it's kinda pointless anyway)

  • stalin emobdied communism as much as Nathan rothschild did

  • punk is dead

  • Yeah punk voter is any different, since punkvoter endorsed our dear leader, the statist master Obama. This video is fucking retarded,

  • @bowlskaterkris

Strummer was a tourist, man. look at who his daddy was. slogging it in with the working class at their quaint little punk shows.

brings new meaning to the phrase "cheap holiday in other peoples misery."

  • @clenhaus

i know what you mean, but i think strummer basically ditched the whole rich deal. can't help what you're born into.

like i said, im not too concerned with whose right or wrong. everyone has their faults, im only 18 so i wasn't around for this.

  • @bowlskaterkris "everyone has their faults"?? his fault is being born into a well off family of educated people? arrogance is a fault, vanity is a fault, being overly dependant is a fault, what family you're born into is not a personal fault.

  • @pirateXsatellite i was saying everyone has their faults in regards to who is right or wrong. Like Crass may have been right or wrong in saying they took the cash, the Clash may have been right or wrong in signing to CBS. I personally don't care. The Clash is my favorite band but Crass has a few things i agree with. Just saying.

But Im not looking to have anarguement about punk rock politics, it's useless. its just creative lyrics and music right?

    take care

  • @bowlskaterkris good then. we are in agreement on every point you brought up.

  • @bowlskaterkris Strummer admitted himself that he couldn't believe that he and The Clash sold out.

  • great video!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah your right....people are just punks for fashion....ten years ago, me and my friends were punks, it was our opinion....fuck politicans...fuck the system....and so much things we were against.....fuck society.....but today the kids are just punx for nothing and nothing.....no own opinion....it´s a shame....punks not dead...were so important...oi oi oi

  • They played á RAR show but when offered payment for the show they didn´t want it and told the promoters that is should go to the cause. To which they got the reply "THIS is the cause".

    This song is about that.

  • I had always thought Crass were a decent band, not that I had listened to them very much, but now I see that I really dislike them. Who are they to accuse Joe Strummer of leaving his principles? That's fucking dumb.

  • What principles did he have in the first place?

  • dont b such an ejit joe strummer has only one principal...his bank balance.. if it was fasionable to be racist and would hav earned an xtra bob or two he would hav bin a nazi..trust me, i know one of his best mates. m

  • Joe Strummer was a fraud. I'm by no means an anarchist, and I'm not a fan of Crass, but Joe Strummer was the son of a diplomat and nixson7668 is right in everything he has said in regards to Joe.

  • @JoeyRamonerulz you and me against the world, mate.

  • It's not an "interpretation" it is a dire literal rendering.

  • 1:12 Yes it is!

  • My Favorite Crass song.

  • good interpretation except i think you got it wrong at the one point when they were talking about the violent tendencies of left-wing revolutionaries and you were showing pictures of bush

  • and does gg care if you like him?

    no

  • At least Crass members are still alive.

  • its funny how crass sings punk is dead. and here comes this kid, with his little punk's not dead text. hahaha

  • s even more amusing the fact that you did not understood not even the context

  • whatever. dude why do you have to sit on here and start shit with people? is your life really that lame? you have no frinds to talk to? just sit and insult me? find real people. and get a grammar lesson "not understood not"

  • Haha indd, hilarious

  • im pretty sure crass is crust anarcho PUNK when they said punk is dead im pretty sure they mean posers killedit and how it got commerical like clash just using the idea to make cash and getting rich no thoughts on fucking the system and living out of it. i am a punk, i am anarchist, i try my best to live outside the system and to fuck it over which i have done a good amount but from my expierence from currently living in vancouver and alwaysgoing to local shows i have seen that punk is not dead.

  • straight up brother, punk is not really dead. It can never die, it's just..shall we say, sleeping at the moment? There are still plenty of bands around playing "punk" music. I believe that the sound has gotten kind of stale though. We need to make some music that's new. OH, and I live in vancouver as well.

  • yea i ahree its not dead just full of bands like rancid taking away this political sound

  • when people say "punks dead" they mean its not the mainstream anymore. People are no longer punks for fashion, its now, officially, a way of life.

PUNK IS DEAD AND PROUD OF IT!

  • is that what it truely meens?

i never looked at it that way.

  • Yep. When punk was "alive" in 77-89 it was the popular thing to do, and now that its not the popular trendy thing anymore (emo and scene are today) its dead. "Punk Is Dead" means "being punk doesn't make you look cool," if your a real punk you don't care about looking cool, punks about doing what you want.

punks dead, I hope it stays dead!

  • 'Punk is Dead' means the leaders are sold out. Its the same as when Nas said Hip-Hop is dead. Blokes are in it for the money. Theyre using a movement to make hollow product for the sake of the fame.

The Ramones stood against flashy mainstream music. Sex Pistols stood against eliticism. Black Flag against conformity. Crass against violence. These groups had a purpose. Where is that today? Punk is dead, atleast we agree on that.

  • Crass was a lot more than just anti-violence

  • where i live some ppl dress punk & think theyre cool, & they listen to shit like greenday... idiots

  • people really do only dress punk to be cool. It's just i dont have a problem with it.

  • @kurtney91 man when I started highschool, not a single person rocked patches but myself. Now theres people with fucking RANCID and GREENDAY backpatches, it confuses the shit out of me. not to sound elitist, I don't ever cuss them, and hang out with a few people like that.

  • @Ansuz92 yeah, alot of these ppl are posers. i mean im not a punk, or I dont DRESS punk, but i do like a lot of the music.... a lot of people just wear boots and mohawks and automatically they think they're hardcore punks.

Man i really dont give a shit.

    i just like the music

  • @kurtney91 ha ha I know exactly what you mean, it's people like that who this song is for.

  • @kurtney91 communism was ok till assholes like you started making exceptions....same with punk...piss like you telling people what to listen to

  • @kurtney91 Do something about it.

  • @kurtney91 they dont dress punk they dress like fags..

  • @kurtney91 i love greenday and i like crass...is that a problem??

  • @Nightrain97GreenDay

Probably! (For those who hates both of them. Though G.Day seems to B quite OK I'd say...)

  • @kurtney91 Hey hey hey, Im punk and i listen too greenday the older stuff but i also listen too the casualities, crass, the distillers, the misfits, Danzig Am i not punk then?

  • @ShamrockReject idk are you?

  • @massnerder1 you fuckin tell me man

  • @ShamrockReject sure dude

  • @kurtney91 i listen to everything from greenday to dystopia who gives ashit

  • do you really think people are no longer punks for fashion? maybe not in your country, but down here it's the damn usual.

"still dressing punk, you fashion victim?" I'd like to ask to all those idiot, money-filled sons and daughters

  • Punks don't buy cloths law, my best friend who is from france, who now lives in america is a punk through and through, not because he has the money to pay for the cloths and shit, but because he lives the lifestyle, believe in it, his cloths are all fucked up because he is to poor to pay for new ones. Not because he chooses them to be like that.

  • i dont know, sounds to me like he did choose it. i thought punk was a way to vent frustration and rebel against "the man" or some shit like that. a way of working toward a better life so we dont end up like kids in somalia who have no other choice but to be child soldiers or pirates. you say ur friend went to america, which is not so bad compared to the rest of the world. if ur friend is in the shits, he put himself there. "The shit we have to climb through is the shit we choose to take".

  • @UpThePunxDIY "when people say "punks dead" they mean its not the mainstream anymore. People are no longer punks for fashion, its now, officially, a way of life." You said a lot right there Mate. I respect that!

  • @UpThePunxDIY

    keep telling urself that

  • @UpThePunxDIY thats so true, ive thought of that a few days ago, sad to see hiphop dead

  • @UpThePunxDIY

fool. u didnt get what crass want to say...-.- when people say punks dead they mean that its dead because its become fashion.... mohawk leather jackets.... all that made punk a fashion and its more fashion then it ever was before. why? cause u can get all your punkrock stuff and clothes in shops... and when i think about the prices... 60€ for trouser 60€ for boots.... 100€ for leatherjacket... THATS fashion!

  • yes its right punk is dead

its just another cheap product for the consumers head :O

  • @UpThePunxDIY ummm im pretty sher its the complete opposite

  • @UpThePunxDIY ohhh yeahh but the problem is theres really not that many clubs anymore and theres really noone to share the love with

  • @UpThePunxDIY people complain like it's not easy to just not give a fuck about anything anymore......it's just like....DO IT!

  • They said that we were trash, well the name is Crass, not Clash.

  • What are these guys against kinda confused

  • Darthvictor12, I know what they are against and have been a fan long enough to understand anarchist politics and I do know they are for permaculture. To quote Rimbaud, "In 77 the revolution was guitars and microphones, the revolution is now permaculture." Being a permie myself, I am convinced that permaculture is everything Crass sang about.

  • socialism/democrocy.fascism/capitalism/communism belong to the industail military complex havent yall look in to history none of it fucking works yall just keep romaticazing idealoghy's and the communist manifesto was funded by the wealthiest familys all of these systems play a convinunt role in the new world order. its all about econonmics do the math fuck!

  • big A little A bouncing B.

  • I know they're anarchists but why does crass attack carl Marx? i mean true communism would be more or less a Utopian anarchy cause everyone shares equally what they produce, there are no government leaders. only just like Anarchy Communism couldn't work. The bulk of humanity is too ignorant, fearful and violent for us to be able to live in peace. So all anarchy would lead to would be more violence, death, and destruction. but maybe thats what we need. But for real why do they?

  • yeah, that's what i try to tell people, but as soon as they hear the word "Communist" or "Socialist" they stop listening and go on some republican gun nut rant.

  • cause most people are only interested in things that they think they have a handle on.

  • "know they're anarchists but why does crass attack carl Marx?"

    Because they are anarchists

    You miss the point entirely

Crass is basically about self sufficiency

    Thats it

Marxism is exactly what they sing against (and capitalism or course)

Crass are the one true punk band

Alot have put out good albums

    But crass lived it

Say what you want but Crass Are Punk

  • ah i see.

  • but marxism aims for self sufficieny like crass does, its just because that when Lenin took over russia, everyone got the view that communism is authoritarian. But Lenin was no communist, just a state capitalist diguised as a communist.

  • if you look at real marxism, marx was an anarchist. its just because the marxists wanted to use the state to gain more workers rights but anarchists wanted to use trade unions. simply because of that there was a big rif between marx and other anarchists.

  • thanks for explaining that dude.

  • Yes but Anarchist/Stateless/Communist societies HAVE existed in both the modern era and in the past. For example Ireland was for a very long time a stateless society during the dark ages and everything was good. Nowadays the EZLN in southern Mexico is a network of fully functioning anarchist municipalities and communities (most members of the EZLN view the group as "Marxists")

  • this song is exactly right. i try to eplain to people that fascism doesn't cancel out facsism. that riots show the high powers that were still animals. there so smart. id feel lost without bands like this. there the only ones that seem to really get it!

  • Crass is a wicked group, but they shoulda done their research more. It was the reds who were the main initiators of modern day militant antifascism in the form of the Anti Nazi League back in the 70s, and then AntiFascist Action.

    Anarchists 8-) lol

  • I think the whole point of the song is not being against the reds. It's being against violence, greed and politics either left wing or right wing. The point is that the whole (real) thrill of being united against a "them", fascists in this case, is still an example of abandoning your individuality to that of a mass. This phenomena of "us and them" has often been the cause of atrocities throuout history

  • You clearly missed the point

  • when the picture punks not dead.. i said thats dumb, these dudes made a song called punks dead..do ur homework.fuck hippies

  • oioioioioioioioioioioioioioioi

    dumbass

  • hioies are more punk then some pelope like green day fans and other bands like sum 41 think there punk i think hippes are cool so are beatnecks

  • hippies

  • people can give you thumbds downs and leave stupid comments but you're right. Crass put out a song saying punk is dead because all these shit punk rock bands caught the wave of commercialism and just did it for fashion along with their fans. WHAT REVOLUTION HAS HAPPENED? PUNK IS DEAD! Anarchy exists without dirty crust punks it lives in the minds of activists. Crass knew it, I know it, but jackriter doesn't know it. But anarchy is not the only good social concept any ideology needs good people.

  • ye, i think its also to do with nazi skinheads and all that working class oi punk, punks dead cos they killed it with there nazi shit

  • S.L.F.

  • right man good hearted person can create an ideology, but it takes just a few narrow minded idiots to exploit ideology, social concept or whatever, ruining it for everyone.

  • crass is a grate band not rasist at all am so sick of rasist bands can some one tell me all the rasist punk bands so i can not lessin to them thanks

  • only one i know of is Skrewdriver

  • i'm not an anarchist because i dont see how it will work, theres too many assholes in the world. but if someday someone can give me an idea or a plan that can make it work without slagging off the government now, then but only then it will have my full support... but crass are fucking awesome

  • I agree. For the moment I am an anarchist as long as I consider it my ideal utopy. This is the attitude I consider the most appropriate at least for the moment. Promoting an armed revolution to instigate anarchy right now would be opposed the anarchy&peace ethoes at least that promoted by CRASS which I think is the soundest

  • punk hangers on. The clash could at least play a fucking tune. Nice line about liberals and niggers thou'

  • oh my god The clash look so fucking lame wankstains

  • "Anarchy and Freedom is what i want"

    fuck yea, i love crass

  • BLACK or White

    Punx Unite!!!!

  • Hate to say this

    but.......

    you're forgetting other minorities.

  • dude it's a punk rock saying...

  • nice video :)

  • chewn!!

  • "Bigotry and blindness, a Marxist con."

Talk to a punk today and they'll tell you how cool it is to be a communist, and how awesome it would be to beat up a skin. Fucking tools.

  • The only tool around here is you you fuckwit

  • "Left wing violence, right wing violence, you can stuff the lot!"

Obviously you've never talked to a "punk" before.

  • CI have talked to plenty of "punks" despite your "obvious knowledge"C

Crass were saved from a severe beating by the nazi BM by "left-wing violence" in Conway Hall in 1979. This song was written about the incident in their bourgeois shock/horror.

  • me and every punk i no wouldnt say that.

  • Dont speak for other people

  • If its fascism with bush and blair why were they lawfully voted in by the people?? just a simple question oxyroxymoron not being cheeky just wondering what your basis is for calling them facist??

  • well, there's some issues with the results of the 2000 election if you recall, Bush won on a technicality instead
