My horse unlocks her door!

My horse has figured how to lock me in the feed room by moving over the bolts and operating the kick bolt at the bottom. Then she looks in at the slatted window. I can just see her beady eyes grinning at me. She was taught this by an old blind horse who used to drive her into her stable then close the door and bolt it. She did it because she was fed up with being bitten on the bum by her. I thought that was funny. Now I have to take precautions to prevent me being locked in!

Horses are natural problem solvers so I would make sure she can't do that. You should invest in a lock on the bottom of the stall

Awrh, this is so cute, you should get one of those kick locks at the bottom of the doors, my horses have one, they work a treat :D And this reminds me of my old pony, you could leave him tied up as he would take his head collar.bridle off or whatever on the nearest fence/door or whatever her could find! haha xx

My horse Charlie does that all the time! we have to attach a lead shank to the door lock for extra protection!

That's cute! Horses are capable of doing that though, at my barn they put the latch in and it's pretty sturdy too but horses can somehow still get out of it, so what they do is click in the metal piece of a lead rope in the latch's little hole so they don't get out and tie the lead rope to the other end.

lol my arabian used to do that, he wouldn't go anywhere, he'd just unlock it and stand in the isle.. Thats when they decided to put second locks at the bottom of every door in our barn lol =p

haha. a horse at my barn does the same thing.. we just put a snap on it so he can't get it.. we have chains on the other side lol.. he can shimmy the doors and get it unlocked.. silly horse lol

We had a horse that could do that at an old barn and he kept running off. They ended up putting a chain on his stall, but the thing was, it was an entire stall, but he woudl stick his nose through the barn hold and unlock it.

I think it sounds like the chicken is ratting out the horse for escaping...I have such fun with my animals!! And I bet YOUR horse is just as special, they each have their own talents. (Note that my other horse just stands there and watches....she will sometimes go and let him out because he can't do it!)
