Unlike Russian navy ships, US navy ships aren't very pretty. They are painted in a dull pale gray color and are boxy looking, they are really ugly, they look like floating industrial facilities or in the case of aircraft carriers, floating runways, then again, when it comes to warships, practicality is more important than looks, evidenlty that's what the designers had in mind.

The Russian Air Force from what I've found has about 1,500 aircraft. I couldn't find what the Russian Navy has for ships. Where did you find your stats? 24,500 to the 2,500 I found is a strong difference. Same as 2,500 ships to where I found 284.
@hasngel certainly it does not have U. S. Air force of 24.500 active but have them stored in the Arizona desert and is not currently in use, but if you are currently sufficient to aircraft management duties 2500 ..
By the way, Russia is outnumbered in the air and sea. They overwhelm us on land. USA could never win a war on Russian territory nor Chinese territory. If ever there was a scenario involving one of them, you can be sure it will involve both. A war against them in 10-15 years would result in war not only in the Asia-Pacific but in North America as well. The likely scenario would be Russia vs EU and USA vs China. Other nations are involved as well but the game changer may be India joining the SCO.

@Rammstein9317 Russia's PAK-FA fighter jet is more powerful than the USA's F-22 Raptor and the new concept fighter jet the USA is preparing to make. However, Russia only has 3 PAK-FA's while we have 187 Raptors. Russia is scheduled to produce 1000 PAK-FA's in the next 10 years. 200 for them, 200 for India and 600 sold elsewhere. If the USA doesn't start backing off from the rest of the world, we're in serious trouble in 10-15 years, possibly sooner. Russia doesn't have junk, just outnumbered.

@sovietskies69 we know VERY little about the J-10B, we know it will have AESA,IRST and"5th gen avionics", but we have no idea how effective they will be. they could be absolutely inferior to even previous generation american technologies(which they most likely will be). and we dont even have any clue as to how expensive the J-10B will be, it could cost over $40million for all we know(within price range of the F-18E and above that of the F-15E). the last great implement from china was gunpowder.

@hotpocketpoison probably......the MKI has a huge RCS as in the vid. The SS upgrade will fix that but the current models do carry a huge signature. And that vid is another example where a cheaper plane is more effective
@sovietskies69 the F-16C block 52 costs roughly $19million. cheap can be effective, but not when the expensive competitor is so advanced you would need multiple cheap planes to defeat them(with a 100% chance of casualties and not a 100% chance of victory). this is why i would prefer the F-22 and F-35 over an upgraded F-15 and F-16.

@sovietskies69 but most of them are built several years, even decades later and cost around the same. for instance the JF-17 first flew in 2003, nearly 30 years after the F-16, and they both cost around $19million, however the F-16 is still better in almost every parameter. same with the Su-30MKI an the F-15. the Su-30MKI was built nearly 30 years after the F-15 and costs slightly more, yet has no real advantages over the latter(it has more range like most russian built jets but thats about it).
@hotpocketpoison well RUSSIAN Jets can match up with US legacy fighters. MKI is Indian, the Avionics are weak. Thats why during the SS upgrade negotiations they begged the VVS to give them better Avionics
@sovietskies69 the only russian jets that can truly go toe to toe with US 4th gen aircraft are their 4.5th gen aircraft, like the Su-35 and MiG-35. the Su-27 can not match the F-15 and the MiG-29 can not match the F-16. and if you think about the time difference between these aircraft then it is like comparing the MiG-17 to the F-14.

And to be honest I just read an article which you I can link to you if you want about the Flanker vs the Super Hornet where it covers every aspect and detail from early prototype development to the latest variant and it has the Flanker on top. and the SU-34 is the best strike bomber in its class...
@sovietskies69 the MiG-31 is not even comparable to any fighter we have, it has low maneuverability, a poor radar, and costs a lot compared to other russian planes, it may be able to fly high and fast but since missiles can fly higher and faster it is a rather useless advantage. also i would not be surprised if the Su-35 could match up to the F-18E, they are both designed for completely different roles. and the F-15E is not only a better strike bomber but also a better dogfighter than the Su-34.

@hotpocketpoison -as a result they went into a 10 year economic crisis where all their military advanced were put on halt and almost dissapeared in the 90's and really did not get picked up until 04-06. Thats why planes like SU-34/35 are just getting continued in recent years when they had such an early maiden flight date

@sovietskies69 NO! russia hasnt been "neck and neck" with the US in terms of military innovation since the late 40s(specifically the MiG-15 and 17). if you look at what WE had and what russia had in their peak you will see they were FAR behind. we were building the YF-22 when they were still building the Su-27M, we had the M1A1 LONG before they had the T-90, not to mention our Navies VAST superiority in every possible parameter(other than number of small sized nuclear subs). and the S-400 was-

@sovietskies69 the S-400 uses completely new everything compared to the S-300,a decades long development time is to be expected. also the F-14 was far superior to the MiG-31. again, the only advantage the MiG-31 had over other aircraft was its speed and service ceiling, however the range of the F-14s radar was nearly twice that of the MiG-31(and 2 F-14s working together could maximize their radars efficiency, giving it a range of more than twice what a single F-14 has)despite its much older age.

@sovietskies69 everything in the S-400, from the electronics, to the radar, were newly designed. this can sometimes take a LONG time. also the US did not need a dedicated bomber interceptor because the F-14 and F-15 filled that role excellently while still being able to dogfight. so i guess in terms of dedicated bomber interceptors the russians were ahead...seeing as though the US has NEVER MADE a bomber interceptor...we dont need them.

@sovietskies69 Um Soviet Russia was far behind the US in naval terms. Our reactors were more advanced, safer, and more efficient. We were also the first country with nuclear powered aircraft carriers. Oh and the Akula class, while near silent, was as blind as a bat and also we already an answer to them (the Seawolf class). In land/air based warfare we dominated them with things like the B-2, the Abrams Tank, the Super Hornet, and the Apache Longbow.

As for aerial combat, the only country that matches the US is actually Israel. The US has always had air superiority over Russia. When it comes to land combat, the Russians stood up pretty well and the Russia's did have a pretty good missile program, but other than that they fell short.

Unlike Russian navy ships, US navy ships aren't very pretty. They are painted in a dull pale gray color and are boxy looking, they are really ugly, they look like floating industrial facilities or in the case of aircraft carriers, floating runways, then again, when it comes to warships, practicality is more important than looks, evidenlty that's what the designers had in mind.

The Russian Air Force from what I've found has about 1,500 aircraft. I couldn't find what the Russian Navy has for ships. Where did you find your stats? 24,500 to the 2,500 I found is a strong difference. Same as 2,500 ships to where I found 284.

By the way, Russia is outnumbered in the air and sea. They overwhelm us on land. USA could never win a war on Russian territory nor Chinese territory. If ever there was a scenario involving one of them, you can be sure it will involve both. A war against them in 10-15 years would result in war not only in the Asia-Pacific but in North America as well. The likely scenario would be Russia vs EU and USA vs China. However, Russia only has 3 PAK-FA's while we have 187 Raptors. Russia is scheduled to produce 1000 PAK-FA's in the next 10 years. 200 for them, 200 for India and 600 sold elsewhere. If the USA doesn't start backing off from the rest of the world, we're in serious trouble in 10-15 years, possibly sooner. Russia doesn't have junk, just outnumbered.

@sovietskies69 but most of them are built several years, even decades later and cost around the same. for instance the JF-17 first flew in 2003, nearly 30 years after the F-16, and they both cost around $19million, however the F-16 is still better in almost every parameter. same with the Su-30MKI an the F-15. the Su-30MKI was built nearly 30 years after the F-15 and costs slightly more, yet has no real advantages over the latter(it has more range like most russian built jets but thats about it).

@sovietskies69 NO! russia hasnt been "neck and neck" with the US in terms of military innovation since the late 40s(specifically the MiG-15 and 17). if you look at what WE had and what russia had in their peak you will see they were FAR behind. we were building the YF-22 when they were still building the Su-27M, we had the M1A1 LONG before they had the T-90, not to mention our Navies VAST superiority in every possible parameter(other than number of small sized nuclear subs). and the S-400 was-

@sovietskies69 the S-400 uses completely new everything compared to the S-300,a decades long development time is to be expected. also the F-14 was far superior to the MiG-31. again, the only advantage the MiG-31 had over other aircraft was its speed and service ceiling, however the range of the F-14s radar was nearly twice that of the MiG-31(and 2 F-14s working together could maximize their radars efficiency, giving it a range of more than twice what a single F-14 has)despite its much older age.

@sovietskies69 everything in the S-400, from the electronics, to the radar, were newly designed. this can sometimes take a LONG time. also the US did not need a dedicated bomber interceptor because the F-14 and F-15 filled that role excellently while still being able to dogfight. so i guess in terms of dedicated bomber interceptors the russians were ahead...seeing as though the US has NEVER MADE a bomber interceptor...we dont need them.

@sovietskies69 Um Soviet Russia was far behind the US in naval terms. Our reactors were more advanced, safer, and more efficient. We were also the first country with nuclear powered aircraft carriers. Oh and the Akula class, while near silent, was as blind as a bat and also we already an answer to them (the Seawolf class). In land/air based warfare we dominated them with things like the B-2, the Abrams Tank, the Super Hornet, and the Apache Longbow.

@sovietskies69 actually russia has all but dumped their Navy. After the incident involving the Kursk, the Russian navy has been a joke. As for aerial combat, the only country that matches the US is actually Israel. The US has always had air superiority over Russia. When it comes to land combat, the Russians stood up pretty well and the Russia's did have a pretty good missile program, but other than that they fell short.

@sovietskies69 -military development plans and secret designs. also the production period for advanced military technologies are usually close to a decade after their testing(also because the military most likely does not need them at the moment). also just because one MiG-1.44 and one Su-47 was built does not mean it didnt cost the government dozens of billions, it was simply a testbed, or proved to be inferior before it was ever introduced, so development was scrapped(same with the T-95).
