  • Stupid hollywood. If they would have cut the violence it wouldnt have been so good X) <33

This movie won three oscars and it is the contrast beetween this innocent girl, Ofleia and the brutal reality that makes it so amazing. :D I love it and it makes me cry every time.

  • very true, im high and usually i can really tell if the interviewer is a fake ass ass hole, but this one understands the movie and is very good at having natural planned conversations

  • Was this really R? Woaaah

  • @xsotax It does feature a guy having his face smashed in. In detail.

  • This interview is FAUNtastic!

  • This is the first youtube video that I have seen with 0 dislikes!!! wow!

  • My parent's brought me and my little brother and sister to see this back when it came out. For some reason, even with the R rating, they were convinced it would be like Narnia. I was, saaaaay, 12? Actually I had just turned 13. The funny part is I was the only one who enjoyed it. I really appreciated this movie and my parents just complained that it wasn't what they expected. XD I always wanted to be a film director, so it would make sense that I would appreciate this as a less mainstream movie.

  • Oooh, a Charles Dickens feel to the first Harry Potter would have been DOPE. Wow . . . I would have loved to see his version. He's really sweet with imaging and painting a picture. I love it. Great interview.

  • Its nice to hear that Prisoner of Azkaban was not Guillermo Del Toro's favorite HP book because everybody says its there favorite book.

  • I'm glad he added his touch to the Hobbit

  • @sixpointneuf Me too, I mean if he had to leave on a bitter note at least you could see his visual vision in the future films.

  • i was 11 when i saw this movie, it was amazing. i cmpletely understood it, and i crave movies like this, sadly there aren't many like this

  • @mawehe63 cool story

  • This guy is a very clever guy. God, the world has become so insipid. It's a miracle creative people can get their work made at all when there's so much opposition from the powers that be to dilute and homogenise their vision.

  • Of Del Toro and Peter Jackson you can truly say: Don't judge a book by its cover. This geeky, fat little guy, who uses profanity is able to produce movie magic and he has a deep understanding of fantasy and the macabre... and he is a great speaker and a great motivator too.

  • Best film ever played in American theatres in a LONG time!

  • I assumed Guillermo Del Toro was Spanish because of this movie. I really hope that this gives the rest of the World, a clue that Mexicans really aren't the " savages" that they are portrayed as. I'm half Mexican, and more proud because of this. Pax

  • he's aammmaaazzziinnngggg. Oh God, I think you would be a stupid actor if you denied the chance to work with him, lol.

  • a Mexican pride.

    im Mexican too

  • When I saw this movie I was fifteen. At the time, I did not understand it at all. I then rented it a few years later and can now appreciate how delicately subtle yet profound the ideas in this movie are. Thank you Guillermo.

  • I just read one of the coolest horror screenplays of all time! It's at Circalit.com. It's called Something In Return, and it's fucking crazy!

You have to become a member, but it's free and simple and absolutely worth it.

The story's about a devil-worshiper who has to sacrifice his son to claim immortality. Talking about one seriously wild and disturbing story. It's gonna make one hell of a movie!

  • one of the best directors ever , and i love his movies .

  • this guy would have been great for The Hobbit.

  • i love the movie pans labyrinth i really do love this movie. its like the love of my life

  • I never realized that about the poster. Very clever.

  • @ImNoRocketSurgeon Sorry, I missed the reference - what about the poster?

  • @hrothgleas That in the poster, the entrance to the labyrinth looks like the female reproductive system. He says it around the 6:00 minute mark .

  • What a genius, waiting for his next movie soon!

  • quality interviewer. actually talking with del toro and not just at him. letterman and co could learn a thing or two

  • Thanks @drazzler. This has to be one of my favorite interviews ever. Class gentleman, incredible movie.

  • @mjleshock

    Yeah, I agree

Can't tell you what this film means to me

Although my username says it nicely

  • Great movie!! Guillermo Del Toro es un genio...Gullermo Del Toro,Alejandro Gonsalez Inarritu,y Alfonso Cuaron definitivamente ha puesto en nombre de Mexico muy en alto en todas parte del mundo.

  • i really admire his work and his point of view, he's absolutely original and he directs his movies with his own personal style. They are just fantastic!! He's definetly the best director there is.

  • OMG! he is a genious! he is the best mexican director

  • He is Mexican but he have done almost all his movies oon Spain, that's why he loks like a Spaniard xD

  • just because he has done almost all of his movies in Spain he looks SPANIARD? lmao

He is From Mexico, just like in the USA, there are people of diferent races and colors in Mexico. :)

  • He's Mexican not spaniard. He hasnt shot ALL his movies in Spain...So if i have dark skin and go to spain, it will changed my skin into a European? Oh please!!!!

  • not all spaniards look light skin their are dark people as well. like mexico their are people who are of african descent and then their are people as white as a german, their are mixed people in mexico, the stereotype is dark an short!! but thats not true their are white to black

  • Totally mexican, Mexico is a multietnic country somebody should read some more books!

  • i LOVE him he is adorable

  • He is such an inspiration for me.For the fact that hes Mexican,it gives me and all the hispanic and Latino filmmakers hope. That when you see the end credits in his movies you see an Hispanic name.

  • OMG, HP 1 would be so much greater directed by Toro.

  • lol with all the violence it would be awesome!

  • He's part of a new generation of film makers... he's like counterpoint to Julie Taymor in many ways.

  • He is simply a genius. Couldn't think of a better director. :)

  • He is a genius yes,but i hope you appreciate Stanley Kubrick.

  • Yes, Stanley Kubrick is a great director as well. But you have to understand too that Pan's Labyrinth was original in written in the language as what del toro speaks so the essense of culture is still there.

  • Yes hes a great filmmaker...

Pans Labryrinth is on my top 5 films.

  • Glad you finally agree. He did well too in hellboy was it?

  • "I'd love to be the one to... off one of the kids" ahaha, he's great, Del Toro

  • yeah, he's great! And it's a great film. It's wonderful that he's Mexican and you can see how his culture has influenced his work. <3

  • Pinche indio primero aprende a hablar ingles y luego comenta.

  • hello bitch, i think u are jaleous coz u are a mother fucker who not respect u own culture.....indio means for u a ignorant....but indio means for me a guy who fuck u mother then u suck too.

  • this film is a spanish film.

  • i really liked what he said about the use of colours.. i didn't really notice the significance when watching the movie

  • ¡viva México!

  • woh! ur ignorant...

  • idiot

  • he does bring up a good point

  • Viva Mexico! I am extremely proud of this Mexican film and of my fellow comrade Guillermo del Toro.

  • @Grecia1401 any hispanic should be proud of this guy.
