Wow! Hey I'm a beginning bassist and have been playing for 11 months. I feel like I know very little- major and minor scale, double major scale, a version of 12 bar blues, "heart shaped box" and "learn to fly"- that's about it. if you have any advice on getting better and learning music please help me.

Well, you pretty much know the basics.. And I've been playing for just a year, actually (8 months on that vid, lol)

Hmm I guess you should learn the major and minor pentatonic scales, Mode I , theyre very common in most rock genres, and good for improvising etc

Minor pentatonic scale's "drawing" is, from the second fret of the E string:

E: 2-5-

A:------2-4-5-

D:--------------2-4-

G:--------------------2-4

hmmm what else... I learned slapping on youtube.. basically, hit the inner bone of your thumb on the string, but do not flex the finger, let it "loose"...

And as for other songs... Try some medium-easy ones then go harder
