  • I do like this. Funny.

  • Well let's see. He doesn't seem capable of rational thinking, he has dome on top with a tuft of hair just below, the women seem to like him, he occasionally seems to do stand up.......yes i think I know exactly what part of the body of christ this man is and your dirty little mind does too doesn't it, you pattern seeking, unavoidably sexually-orientated mammals. Don't worry, you evolved that way!

  • i was about to write another comment but as i opened up the Bible searching for examples Galatians came to my attention...truthfully guys just read Galatians! Paul lays it out beautifully!

  • in Acts when Paul talks forever and the dude falls out of the window, dies, and then Paul brings him back to life. There luke writes that it was on the first day of the week that Paul spoke. in Corinthians Paul writes about collecting offering on the first day of the week. this is just when they decided to meet.

Man wasn't made for the Sabbath, but Sabbath for man. - Jesus

in Romans it talks about Christ is the end of the Law. and that we are not bound by the law anymore

  • Is it considered a sin to work on the Sabbath day?

  • @Zectroy Read God's 10 commandments and find out! Exodus 20

  • @OL8Twho Why don't you try and give the answer here?

  • @ElProximo It will mean more to you if you read and discover the answer yourself.

  • @OL8Twho Oh get over yourself for crying out loud. You don't serve anyone that way and really that chases people away anyways.

Here is an answer for the sincere question: - Only if you are an ancient Israelite. The verses he gave you were specific laws given to Jews before the Real Sabbath came along. A 24/7 Sabbath rest called Jesus Christ.

  • @ElProximo Real Sabbath? You mean creation week of course, when the Real Sabbath was made. Our Creator knew we would need a day of rest so he made the sabbath a day of rest from our daily grind. If your girlfriend told you to meet her on Monday, would you show up on Tuesday? Then why do people worship on Sunday which is not the seventh day? Think about it.

  • @OL8Twho The Real Sabbath is from Sunday - Saturday. 24/7 as the kids say. It is resting in Christ who has fulfilled all the work for us. Now you can rest in Christ.

This is a central theme and really the 'core' in Christianity. Do you ever read through the NT and notice how many times this idea, message and this 'Good News' is mentioned to us?

Christians met on Sunday BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SATURDAY. Now think about that.

  • @ElProximo Where did you get the notion that Christians met on Sunday? Show me where it says that the seventh day has been changed to Sunday in the bible. You won't be able to do it. Do you believe Gods 10 commandments are true or false?

  • @OL8Twho It isn't a 'notion'. It is 2000 year of Church History. The 'notion' is in Acts 20 and 1st Corinthians 16 and is recorded by extra-biblical historians and is reported by early Church fathers going back to 300AD.

No, I do not believe the day was changed. Not at all. It was 'fulfilled' though and so your old 'shadows' of the real thing to come are fulfilled in Christ who is the 24/7 Sabbath.

The Ten Commandments most definitely were given to the Jews by Moses. Not a doubt in my mind.

  • @ElProximo So, are you saying that the 10 commandments are not for Christians just Jews?

  • @OL8Twho A better question is for you to answer: Are you saying you are under the Law?

I say the 10 Commandments were for Jews and the Bible makes this quite clear. They were given to Jews (The Israelites) and NOT YOU.

But having said that, it was for Jews to carry, fail and drive all of us to the Cross.

In example: You tell me one single day of your life you ever fully completed the first commandment?

    You never did.

    I never did.

He who fails 1 fails them all. Now what can you do?

  • @ElProximo Why did Jesus say 'If you love me keep my commandments' was he just kidding around? Why does the 4th commandment start with the word 'Remember' if it was meant to be forgotten? What moral code should we live by if not God's law? The law of the Lord is perfect Ps. 19 The remnant of the true church keep the commandments of God & have the faith of Jesus. Rev. 12:17

  • @OL8Twho Well then let's go right ahead and see if we can find out why Jesus said "If you love me keep my commandments".

    Have you kept His commandments?

No. I would safely guess you fail to keep all of them far more than you succeed.

So now what? I suggest we certainly do have the answer and it's this - its not that you love Him (as if you could) but that He loved you.

(even if you love Him now it's only because He loved you first).

    2. You live by code written on your heart by Spirit

  • @ElProximo Help me with this question, If we keep every day as a holy day of rest 24/7, then when do we go back to work? It looks to me like the Sabbath will be kept in the new earth. Isaiah 66:23. You are right about one thing, He loved us first, and it's Jesus' blood sacrifice that saves us, not our works. But check this out, Jesus told us to go and sin no more. Sin is the transgression of the law so how can we know what is sin without the law? It's a mirror to see the dirt on us, right?

  • @OL8Twho You don't keep every day holy. Jesus does. Every day we wake up as Christians we are resting from works.

This is well discussed in the NT and is really a central point and purpose of the Cross. This isn't some new idea.

The Law: Yes, I agree it served as a mirror or a 'ruler' by which you can never doubt the insufficiency of your works and even our hearts and minds and the stick that will drive us back to Christ.

  • @ElProximo The law of God written with His own finger is still valid. In fact, the Sabbath is the seal of the living God. He blessed it and sanctified it and requires us to honor it. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God. Jesus rested in the tomb on the sabbath and rose the first day of the week. Better look into it a little more before it's too late.

  • @OL8Twho But for you it is nothing Christ died and was resurrected. For you it was only a 'demonstration' or a very heroic thing but you see no difference. No new covenant. It was just what? A strong demonstration of how to keep the Jewish law?

You don't 'teach' me anything about doing homework here. I suggest you start 'looking into it' before you miss out on any more freedom in this life.

  • @ElProximo Let's go to the bible for understanding. Jesus kept the law and he wants us to also. You do know that Sunday worship was made up by men don't you? Nowhere in the bible does it ever say the ten commandments were done away with. Let's look at Jesus' words in Mark 7:7-13. verse 9 says, "Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." Let's look at Rev. 22:14 also. ....they that do his commandments have the right to the tree of life. Follow Jesus.

  • @OL8Twho

You said "lets got to the Bible" and then you gave your dangerous opinions. Then you mention Mark 7 where Jesus, living under the Law (He is actually fulfilling it too) speaks to those living under the Law (before the Cross which means nothing to you).

As for Revelation 22 we already solved this - nobody but Christ kept the commandments. Not you. For you it must be fear and trembling each day?

Or do you crucify Christ over and over each day you break Laws?

  • @ElProximo Interesting, so should anyone keep any of the commandments? Just the ones they like? What did Jesus mean when he said, "if you will enter into life, keep the commandments" Matt 19:17. God doesn't ask us to do something that we can't do. "Go and sin no more" John 8:11 Let's all work towards that goal. Please check out Psalm 1 also. There it is. Have a great week-end ElProximo and thanks for talking to me nice without name calling. You are a true Christian.

  • @OL8Twho

All this before the Cross and while Under the Law:

Jesus says “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

The young man explains which commandments he has kept. (whether he did or did not) Jesus explains he must then sell all he has.

The disciples ask “Who then can be saved?”

Jesus answers: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Later a New Covenant is made which solves everything.

  • @ElProximo With God all things are possible, so we CAN keep the commandments! Constantine changed the 7th day to the 1st day to get the pagans to go to church and give money. It's no secret, just history. In the parable you mentioned, the young man went away sad because he chose riches over service to God.

  • @OL8Twho Well, in a 'way' (in a sense) God did make it possible for 'you' to keep the commandments. The ultimate twist to that riddle was that you can be 'In Christ' who did keep the commandments.

As for Constantine. He did nothing but Christians certainly did arrive at a consensus to deliberately worship on the 1st day instead of the 7th.

Yes. in the parable the young man is sad over riches but the summary is bewilderment over the seemingly impossible standards of the Law.

  • @ElProximo Do some research on Constantine and maybe the Waldenses you'll be shocked. Satan loves it when people don't care to obey Jesus and despise his law and character. There's no riddle or bewilderment over the law. John says,For this is the love of God that we keep his commandments and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3 Who are the people who don't take the 'mark'? Rev. 14:12 tells u .. they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. God bless

  • @OL8Twho I have done plenty of research on Constantine and he doesn't have anything to do with deliberately celebrating on the 1st day. Christians are in the Sabbath 7 days a week now but Sunday is chosen because it is not Saturday.

But listen, if you want to keep living under the Law go right ahead. You are obligated to keep all of it then. The Law will bring you death. Then where can you turn?

  • @ElProximo Great peace have they that love thy law, and nothing shall offend them. Psalm 119:165 The law of God will not bring me death, don't you think that sounds rather arrogant, I do. Why would a Christian say that? Have fun not obeying God.

  • @OL8Twho One problem is you are picking out 'catchphrases' with no context, continuity and fullness. The Psalmist is another example of the Law killing you showing you a total failure and impossible goal I might add. John does that too by constantly giving you the 'Impossible Law' (to kill you) and then contrasting this with the escape - Christ. You need to keep something in mind - its YOU who will be in misery trying to obey the Law. So what can you do now that you fail to obey?

  • @OL8Twho Romans 7:9 is just one place where Christians learn that The Law brings death. It is also called a 'curse'.

What sounds 'arrogant' is someone coming along deciding that they must be so strong they won't be cursed and brought to death by obeying the Law. Galatians 3:10 makes it clear sure failure is coming but you think you can beat the system heheh? Moses didn't even keep a perfect obedience record with the Law :p

  • @ElProximo Rom 7:11-13 specifically says the Law is NOT death! You should DELIGHT in the Law of the Lord v22

Furthermore the Bible does not call the Law a curse! The Law has a curse IN IT for those who Do not obey it... No obeying the Law = a Curse. Not obeying the commandments = death.

But God be thanked! The LAW of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin & death, that the Righteous requirements of the Law might be fulfilled IN US! see Rom 8:2-4.

  • @ChristusVlCTOR Yes and I have a character limitation and you should well know all this in context. It is the central concept thru the post-Cross NT and all we need to know is that Law = Curse and Death as far as we are concerned.

The 'Thank God' part is also THE major theme - Christ fulfills the Law. This goes back to John over and over again - Christ IN US (He does) impart His righteous obedience.

Not you. Or you just see it as getting strength so you can obey the Law?

  • @ElProximo The New Covenant (the reason Jesus poured out His blood) is Prophesied in Jer 31:31, it was to write God's Law on our hearts that we might know Him and be forgiven for breaking His Law.

In Ezekiel the pouring out of the Holy Spirit was prophesied, the reason? 36:27 "And I [GOD] will put My Spirit within you and CAUSE you to walk in My Statutes, and ye shall keep My Judgements, and do them."

  • @ChristusVlCTOR Hang on.. I think there is some confusion going on in who is responding to which post by which person. Sorry if this messed up the convo.

As for those verses I won't spend a lot of time trying to decide context or meaning (meaning is Christ will fulfill them and live through us etc),

    however,

I would just say that you can see you constantly fail to uphold Mosaic Law. I suggest you have not gone 1 single day 'totally' obeying the first one.

    So now what?

  • @ElProximo From the very beginning of the controversy n heaven it has been Satan's purpose to overthrow the law of God. It was to do this that he entered upon his rebellion against the Creator and tho he was cast out of heaven he continues the same warfare on the earth. To deceive men and lead them to transgress Gods law is Satan's job. He that offends "in 1 point" shows contempt for the whole law, his influence and example are on the side of transgression he becomes "guilty of all"James2:10

  • @OL8Twho

Satans rebellion was to overthrow the law of God? I don't know about that but I would boldly suggest that The Law given to men was from God with the very purpose of showing them their need for a Savior.

Consider this - an entire nation of people spent thousands of years perfecting adherence to The Law and not one of their High Priests could pass that James 2:10 bit you mentioned.

So again, what is left for us to do? Since you offend the whole Law what can you do to be saved?

  • @ElProximo We don't keep the law to be saved, we keep the law because we love Jesus, he is our Savior. Thru Christ, all things are possible. Jesus said several times to people, go and sin no more. He wouldn't have said it if it weren't possible would He? Do you think we should obey ANY of the 10 commandments? Which ones do you like? None of them?

  • @OL8Twho I read: You think Jesus was just here to give you powers and strength to go back and really obey those laws even better?

    2. Yes, Jesus would tell people to 'go sin no more' knowing it was impossible for them. This was a major part of his ministry - to 'bury' people with the Law.

    3. Don't ask me which commandments I like. The question is terrible for you here - you (and me) fail to keep them. You keep failing. You are a terrible law-breaker.

So how can you explain this?

  • @ElProximo

    1. We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

    2. But in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men Matt. 15:9

    3. If you love me keep my commandments 1 John 1:15

    4. Here is the patience of the saints, here are they which keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Rev. 14:12

Better start listening to Jesus or He just might say, "depart from Me you who practice lawlessness" Matt 7:23

  • @OL8Twho The Devil used isolated 'snippets' of scriptures when he was trying to tempt Jesus in the wilderness. You used the 'deluge of points' technique on your own. But let's skip to the end and discuss this:

    - I definitely know I have and would continue to fail to obey the 10 commandments (not to mention 100's of others). Already done.

    - You are same as me. Only difference is you keep insisting you will follow the law somehow. Perhaps using willpower?

  • @ElProximo At least I use scripture, and no, I'm not the same as you because I believe in trying to obey God. out of love. Explain this. "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid, yea we establish the law" Rom. 3:31 You need to start studying the bible and not the traditions of men because you have been deceived.

  • @OL8Twho HI. I think I know where you are coming from. Nevertheless, Christ is the end of the Law. It doesn't mean that we make the law void and of no effect (because it does have a purpose), but the entire law is fulfilled in the command to love. Christ's commandments to Christians is Love. Read the letters of John and when Jesus Christ said if you love me you will keep my commandments, he was talking of his new commands and teaching in the new covenant. The law of love fulfils everything.

  • @MilanPavkovic The ten commandments ARE the law of love. The first four tell us how to love God, the next six tell us how to love our fellow man. Brother John saw the dragon (you know that the dragon is Satan) wanting to make war with the remnant of her seed (a church) who 'keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus.' Rev. 12:17 One more thing, the sabbath will be kept in heaven thru eternity, Isa. 66:23-24. Yes 'the law of the Lord is perfect' Ps.19:7

  • I fully support this guy, he may get grief for leaving Cornerstone Church but God is always steering our journey, not us. Go Francis CHan!

  • Francis Chan, you are such a great man of God, I can't stop listening & learning from you =)
