  • Nice work! You'd could increase your potential my setting the gripper properly (in the crease of the palm near the fingers) and chalking up.

  • I have to set it a little when I train with the 2.5. I don't have to set it with the 2 anymore - I can close it freshly without a warm up or a set.

    I don't chalk up because I train at work in an office environment. I feel like a get a lot of grip so I think I'm fine without it. It may become necessary on the road to 3 though!

  • i ordered all 4 and got them 3 days ago. i could easily close the #1 and the # 2 was a little tougher but i got it easily after i learned about setting a gripper. #3 is about 1/2'' inch away. They really tear up the skin your hands though. I want to be able to close the #4 by this time next year. if i can i'll post a vid.

  • Thanks but my quest to the #3 might take a little longer than expected and i think i can forget the #4 in a year, maybe 3 years. Grip strength take some time to develop.

  • Nice job, don't you just love how when you finally get that first close on any of the sizes, it becomes much easier? I screamed at #2 for about 6 weeks, "Close you (add name of choice)" then once I heard that familiar clank, I yelled at myself, "look how easy that is now! why did it take so long to do this?" Love my CoCs!

    I got a strong grip from my job + deadlifting etc..

    So I managed to close #2 after some warmup.

    I think I managed to close #2.5, not 100% sure since i didnt have time to check it with my own eyes, but I could feel it grind a bit.

  • This video is very inspiring to see how each week you got closer and closer to closing the no.2 gripper until the 4th week when you closed it all the way shut. I remember when I got my first CoC no.2 gripper on oct 9,2008 I closed it on the third attempt. Now I can close it for 10 reps in the right hand, and 1 rep in the left hand. Last week I finally was able to close the 2.5 gripper for one rep. The no. 3 gripper is in a world of it's own. It will take months for me to close that one.

  • Thank you! I have been working on the No. 3 since this video came out and I still haven't been able to get it. I finally broke down and ordered the 2.5 yesterday. Maybe it will help. The No. 3 just makes you want to cry it is so hard......

  • I started in January I could only close the trainer 10 times full range, I only closed CoC 1,5 one week ago, can do now 3 slow reps. I just ordered CoC 2 and 2,5. I wonder how heavier is CoC 2, I mean I know the poundage, I am just curious to know how harder it is from someone who pregressed from one to the other (if you used the 1,5) and for someone closing the 1,5 this few times

  • I went straight to the #3 and still haven't closed it yet. It's getting very frustrating, but I'm not giving up. I can get it semi-close, but the progress is so slow that it makes it unenjoyable.

  • Ahh, keep at it. You will get there. Do you have the #2.5? That will probably make it a little more satisfying :P

  • I know what you mean about slow progress -I've only closed the #2 coc 3 times and often recently I fail on it which is frustrating . Are you resting enough between workouts?

    It would probably be a good idea to get a 2.5 from both a progress and psychological perspsective.

    It WILL make the whole thing more enjoyable for you. Maybe get those little IMTUGs too, to give yourself more variation in your workout. :)

  • you say you can close the N1 18 times in one month, how much can you close the first attempt? Can i know your training method?

  • The first time I tried the No. 1, I was able to close it 3 times in a row. I worked up to being able to close it 18 times after one month of training. I trained nearly every day, closing it 10-20 times per day. I later found out that if you train like that on the No. 2 you will break your hand, so now I train every other day and do around 10 reps on the No. 2.

  • You will sprain your hand and stop gaining progress.  You have to give time for your hand muscles to rebuild.

  • actually if you warm up and down properly and don't overwork each day you can train for days at a time. ive made progress that way. got my no.2 today, yes its a bitch......
