They're not introducing themselves , they're saying it because the people who they are impersonating give the air of being "up themselves" sometimes so it's just for comedic effect, if you don't find it funny then don't watch it.

How the hell is it for 'comic effect' to say e.g. 'my name is....'. Why should I not watch anything because I don't find it funny either ?. I don't find the news funny

@TheKenfig The only characters who actually introduce themselves are Kirsty Wark (presenter of a news programme, where it's usual for the presenter to say, "you are watching..., with me, ..."), and Jeremy Kyle (in this sketch they're making fun of one of Jeremy Kyle's catchphrases, "listen to me, it's called the Jeremy Kyle show"). It's part realism, part comic effect, rather than to make sure you know who they are.
