Interest bearing accounts will still only be covered up to 250K per depositor. Oh , and you don't have to even worry about how safe it is. It is backed by good faith and credit. Personally, I'd take pennies at home over paper in the bank! Humans will win!

@savgal1211 Many people in Europe (including me) look for small local banks, run by self employed people. We look at who got bailed out and what other banks they own and avoid those. As a small business owner I can't do without a bank, so this is the next best thing we can do imo.

@savgal1211 Many people in Europe (including me) look for small local banks, run by self employed people. We look at who got bailed out and what other banks they own and avoid those. As a small business owner I can't do without a bank, so this is the next best thing we can do imo.

Also look at what Europe is doing-they are taking people's retirement funds, so research this.
Also, this year, our FDIC has changed what type of checking accounts that they will insure now, so check with your banker on this!
