Han Chinese way back in Han Dynasty as a frontier outpost. It was only detached from Gansu and added to Qinghai province only in 1928 by ROC in order to provide an administrative center for newly established Qinghai province, which used to be loosely organized by Qing Dynasty as Kokonor territory.

To resolve this Tibet or Mongolia thing - Qinghai is an ethnic mixing zone, inhabited by Tibetans (Amdowa), Mongols (Kokonor Mongols, derived from Oirats), Han Chinese, Hui, Salar, and Yugur (Yellow Uighurs, basically Uighurs who fled collapse of Uighur Khaganate, but did not convert to Islam but became Tibetan Buddhist instead). Check out Xining (Tibetan: Siling) city and you will see these ethnic groups plus many others.

the hassle of getting there from Xining and visitors have to use electric tram carts and then still have to walk about 80 metres from alighting point to embarkation point to board the jet boat. Looking back now, I felt I should have skipped this part of the journey and slept in the hotel room instead. Nothing spectacular to me when compared to the Yang zhuo Yong lake at tibet.

Nice song, and amazing video. I just wish the Chinese version wasn't included - kinda ruins the feelings. The Mongolian version is drastically better, and simply goes with the tune. The Chinese choppy language ruins the melody. Very pretty girl with an excellent voice - a potential star. She should explore the Mongol language market.
