Personally, I wonder why unreasonable (i.e., "traditional") versions of religion are so popular in the US, as opposed to wondering why religion in general is so popular. As Nietzsche put it, God died. The unreasonable assumptions and ideological tyranny of (strict) Christianity have fallen, in the intellectual world, among other social spheres. The common folk need to wake up. The world will be more enriching.

I find it to be very honest and realistic. It is all summed up when she says that you pray to make things happen, but your god is omnisciente so he already knows you want it to happen, and since you are all up for "god's plan", you should not even bother asking anything.
