  • "Scarification is not artistic" - Clearly that person is working the wrong counter job, regardless if they are just a counter person, a piercer, or tattoo artist. Tattoos and scars are extremely similar. You're using a stencil to transfer an image onto your skin which will be permanently left there. The only difference is one uses a scalpel, the other, a cluster of needles imbedding foreign substances under your skin. You don't have to like it, but calling it "not artistic" is sheer ignorance.

  • i agree with her, after i did my scarification tat, on my arm it's really hard to just show it around nd i wanna hide it. because people are gonna see me as a freak. And i just wish more people would understand

  • I really could never get any scarification on my body. It looks so painful but some look like works of art. Fascinating in a way.

  • LOL IN OTTAWA. I LIVED IN THIS CITY D:

  • this is my aim , to get one of these.

  • not sure if i would do this or not but i can respect it and im always down to keep an open mind

  • how does it not bleed?

  • @cammo6901 It does bleed, but the cut isn't as deep as say, a medical incision, so it's not going to start pouring out. After every small cut, the scarification artist dabs it away, so that they can see the area they are working with. It's similar to getting a tattoo in terms of procedure.

  • nice work man. keep up the good work!!!!

  • Amazing! its cool that Tattoos and piercings arent the only thing you can get done at Tattoo shops

  • This is so beautiful!

  • That asian guy is wrong. I am getting older and I do not regret anything I have done with my body nor my life. Everything we do in life is a lesson rather it be good or bad, either way you still learn something!

  • i have a 2 brand scarification pieces. they really hurt. but its over now so :)

  • i got scarification on my arm but i done it myself

  • i wouldn't want a keloid scar ,, i think they look horrible but a scar that's not raised , beautiful <3

  • I personally would not modify my body in any surgical way (unless I have to) but it's so original I have to say 'cool'!

  • tattoos are for sissies,, scars are hardcore

  • what a dork,

  • I'm noticing a trend with the comments on the videos of female scarification/tattoos/piercings vs. the male ones.

Anyone care to enlighten me as to why people seem to dig it when men get this kind of thing done, yet call names and put the women down who get this done? I don't get it. It's a fucking double standard.

Why is it that you people seem to think women will regret it more than men? Get a life, and get over yourselves.

  • It's seems to be in the same tradition of how promiscuous men are called players, but promiscuous women are whores or sluts. It's just another ridiculous double standard that has countless roots in psychology and history, but probably won't ever be fully explained.

In other words, it's complete and utter bullshit.

  • seriously!

    finally someone that agrees!

honestly the best scarification work ive seen done is on women. like the branchs on this one girl. those were the best ive ever seen.

  • honey,, if u r worried about how much it will hurt...i suggest u do not get it done...this is an art-- way more sacred than a "tattoo-- this is permanance--its not a BIG deal. its a way of life. >>>im so proud of u matt!! havent talked 2 u since the trip 2 lake pimichunan (i cant spell it)--near lake st marie--Goodness- like 5 years ago or 6--anyway....proud of u. megan from Pennsylvania chamberwax

  • Hello Guys. I need help.

Im about the get my scarification done.

But before that, I wanna know how much it hurts, how it looks after the healing process, and if there is any area of the body where you shouln't get scarificated for safety.

Any suggestion adn info is welcome. Please feel free to send me a message.

    Thank you

  • Get a tattoo m8,

Scarfication hurts, and there is 50% change off healing

    .

  • pain is relative to each person but if your all ready worried about the pain then dont bother going through with it.

suggestion dont get your penis scarificated, would hate for that to go wrong

  • Enjoy your compromised immune system, you dopey broad.

  • she´s nuts

  • Recomendation for everyone thinking of getting scarification: really think it through! I mean, this you can never get of, never ever. It's not like regular tatoos, where you can laser them of if you whant to. Here we're talking, no turning back.

Othar than that, I have made mine myself, but I will get help for the back and frontside. I love it!

  • @olssonII IF for some reason someone REALLY wanted to remove their scarification, there are ways to have it removed, such as skin grafts. There will be minimal scarring left behind, but there's also scarring left behind with tattoo removal...

People who get real scarification are typically the type of people who wouldn't get a tattoo removed in the first place, and aren't getting the scars for anyone else but themselves.

  • roses are red

  • u won't get ur shin back the day u regret

  • wow i would'nt want 2 get dat......but 2 all the people with branding scarification out there damn u guys can stand a lot of pain

  • that was very fascinating, and awesome,,,, i agree ,, it is the same thing as a regular tattoo,,, people are weird ohwell,,, do you know neone in florida that does it

  • Not sure about the Florida community. Maybe someone else can help you out. I'd check out BME zine's Web site, personally.

  • its an ancient art form . . .BULLSHIT directionless bored western youth looking to steal other cultures traditions, i dare you to stop just once before adorning yourself next time & think about helping some one in need & i guarantee you will feel your spiritual sustenance,

  • tatoos has been around since the stoneage. romans had it, celts, egyptians. its not bullshit

  • this isnt normal... scars? why would you want them on purpose?

  • i'm not impressed with Universal or Jen for that matter. "not artistic"? What the hell. Its about the equivalent of an inkless tattoo. People like that professor and Universal are the REASONS why the community is so less accepted

  • HIHIHI!!!

That's my leg he's peeling the skin off!

  • Hey its Matt !!

That guy pierce my navel 8 times ... 7 years ago !!

My crazy 8's ... still got it ;)

He's the best at what he does... BodyMod !!

  • Hey !!! Its Matt !

Or should I say Hawk ?!

Glad for U , still in the bussiness ,

When pp ask me who's the best ,

I say its Matt from planet ink ;)

Go see him before anyone else !!

still got my crazy eight's !!

That guy pierce my navel 8x , 7 years ago and its still AWESOME !!

Hope one day we can say hi to each other with no hard feelings !!

  • Once i made the decision to forgive my mom, i got a tattoo of a heart with stitches in it to represent forgivness. i got it on my shoulder because many people cary a chip on their shoulder 4 negative past experiences. I have no chip, just a heart that says "Mom." I decided if she ever went back to being abusive and we ever had a fall out, i would be able to look at my shoulder as a reminder of the chance i gave her. She will always be my mother, w/ all her imperfections. I will never regret it

  • I agree with bleedthedead, annwe6 did write that beautifully. However, i disagree with annwe6's idea that body modifications teather you to your past and inhibits growth. I just started looking into scarificaiton as an option of body modification, i have tattoos and piercings at the moment but i find scarification appealing. I have a tattoo to represent my mother on my shoulder. I didn't speak to my mother for a year due to physical, emotional, and verbal abuse i endured due to her alcoholism.

  • I love how people try and play shops off one another.

  • Aw, Matts my piercer :)!

  • These people are so young - don't they realize how much they will change in who they are and how they want to express themselves even in just the next 10 years? Any kind of body modification, though it may be beautiful and artistically pleasing, still has the ability to tether someone to a moment in time and potentially disallow their ability to grow, blossom and transcend fully. It doesn't express freedom, it steals it.

  • i would give u a thumbs down because im into body modifications, but u wrote that so beautifuly lol

  • depends entirely on why you got it. in my case, anything permanent I do to myself is representative of a memory that I don't care to forget for the lesson it holds.

  • amazing<3

  • This involves skill and an eye. It is an ancient artform that has been around for about 2000 years. People are so damn ignorant today, the roses are beautiful. We need to keep cutting, burning and bleeding in the name of art...

  • Cool !!!

  • OMFG EW

  • Does anyone know where i can get it done in the uk and how old you have to be?

    x

  • honestly, you'll have to ask around. Be sure you find someone who's up to date on sterilization methods and has done this before. Ask to see their portfolio and such before you select them.

    And dont rush into anything.

  • Seems extremely destructive to me, it might be that some people are not happy with their bodies as they are and need to make them more interesting?! Maybe they are unable to communicate verbally and need to express themselves in other ways!

  • There's part of it, and thank you for trying to understand. More then anything else, there tends to be a desire in the people that do this to...do this! It's inherant, it's natural to them. Theres a million reasons, but there you go!

    Thanks

  • Seems destructive to me. :P

    Seek expansiveness, not reduction.

  • what is the body mod website they are talking about??

  • Just google "bmezine" and it'll come up.

  • you cant google it

    you gotta wiki it

  • Thats funny.. Matt Cotrell at the beginning gave me my eyebrow piercing at Planet Ink and Jen Sweed gave me my 2 double helix piercings at Universal. Thats right downtown Ottawa woot.

  • and I have always felt like I didnt fit in/they have been around as a tribal addornment way before tats/they arent as painfull as youd think,,theres plenty of fors n against but an alternative to tats n piercings has been needed 4 some time,,but DO YOUR RESEARCH,,,(mines at bodymod . org under newest scarifications, the voittaa piece)

  • I got my first piece yesterday,a pretty big back piece with skin removal Im 27 and have always identified more with scars than tats (of which I have none)I'm really lucky to have had one of about 6 true pros do it (UK),Each to their own, fair enuf, but I cut myself sometimes as a teen,it helped/the proceedure has a quality of a rite of passage far more than tatoos, which lets face it are becoming more 'normal' n accepted

  • I'll get that done, I'll even do it myself if i have to..seriously.

  • I have a similar piece of scarification in the same place as that girl.

Its not as painful as people would imagine, but its a beautiful form of art!

    x

  • That'd be a good career for murderers and serial killers who enjoy cutting up their victims. They could get into that and cut into people and get paid for it. Good deal.

  • PLANET INK RULES UNIVERSAL SUCKS

  • I'm hoping to get scared in a spine-pattern down my back someday.

Thanks for the vid, reflects the discussion really well. Scarification is art IMHO!

  • the girls roses are beautiful

  • so they give you any novacaine or anything?

  • planet ink has much more talented artists. universal doesnt have the skill or experiance to do this, thats why they dont do it. i have a tattoo from both shops and planet ink is a much better place to be.

  • I have 131 tattoos and will never do that to be cool, no way!!!

  • i have some scarification and i can tell you that if you want to get in to body mods it better not be because you want to be cool. people do it for personal reasons and no other. are you telling me you got your 131 tattoos to be cool?

  • This was really interesting :)
