No question it's the originals. I must have seen them a half dozen times when they were at their zenith. I could even hear them as backup singers to other artists records, which wasn't a unusual occurance in those days. The jumpier pace was also not unusual. That was the thing to stir the live audience.
This is indeed the Shirelles, but this is a later version of their original 1958 recording. I think original much better.
