Dez was actually a kick-ass front man, it's sort of too bad for him that Henry had to come along. Though the 5-piece line-up with Henry on vocals and Dez on rhythm was one of the greatest in music history. Saw them a few times, unforgettable. The fall off after Chuck left the band could not have been more stark.

@nwffdiver Well even though the video is copyrighted 1984, that was probably only because that's when it was distributed. The video is actually from 1981. It has to be. That was the only time in the band's history when Rollins had a clean-shaved head. Also, Chuck Dukowski stopped playing in the band by 1983.

@JonErich Yes that footage is early in his career with the band, though as you can see he had already introduced his trademark variations to Rise Above, and he had also learned to conserve his energy. His first shows with the band he was a snarling menacing tiger throughout every song, and he simply couldn't keep up that level of ferocity (which was why he became, literally, an instant legend). I think he had a good six months with the band under his belt by the time that tape was shot.

I heard Greg Ginn told somebody on his facebook that it has to do with quality issues and the fact that youtube advertises things companies and/or products that Ginn or SST may not support. I think it's bullshit myself. I think most people who look for music on Youtube are aware of the quality reduction. I do however kind of understand where he's coming from with the youtube ads.
