Hey ericnwren People rag on the Scheff era because it is plain and simple not that good every album they did was ballad after ballad and bad ballads at that it was money to them because the mindless masses eat this up. You dont actually think the singers believe what they are singing in these corny ballads its money man straight up. I have been in love before two but thank god this era of Chicago has nothing to do with it.
@pookers2000 Actually, I heard a copy of this song in nice condition.Chicago, released on June 17, 2008, after a nearly 15-year delay, Chicago XXXII: Stone of Sisyphus. Check it out, before all these kids run out and buy it up! It really is a great CD specially if you like the 80's sound of Chicago.
I lay the descent of Chicago into a oldies band at the feet of the original cast members of Lamm, Pankow, Parazaider and Lochnane. To settle for such mediocrity that Scheff brings to the band is just incomprehensible to me. They claim that dumping Seraphine was a result of him mailing it in on a few concerts in the UK. Yeah, well, if you're so concerned about quality, then how do you explain keeping Scheff all these years? It's not about Cetera vs. Scheff anymore. That horse has left the barn.
You know it really PISSES me off when people rip on the Chicago era of 86-91(The Scheff Era)which I really loved and personally it meant alot to me from a sentimental standpoint of view!
The people that don't understand this era have obviously NEVER been in true love and looked in a girl's eyes cause this IS the music to accompany God's greatest gift(Love).
The artsy fartsy type like the early real stuff.I have liked Chicago from their late 70's days till the 21 album.
@scdeville SOS is not that bad. I just think the producer, Peter Wolf, encouraged Jason to sing too high a few times. With him, you need to be careful. When he gets too high, it sounds more like screaming than singing.
I am a huge fan of Twenty1, but I don't think that song was nearly up to par with the rest of the songs on that album. It would be nice to hear what an improved version would have sounded like.
What's with that awful chord progression in the chorus?! I love everything Chicago has done from 16 to Twenty 1 but this is by far their worst ballad!
Thanks for sharing this. Too bad this didn't make 21 instead of You Come To My Senses (the all time worst Chicago song, IMO). A real shame, this could have been a hit.
You've definitely peaked my interest. Please tell me directly, exactly and precisely why "You Come To My Senses" is "the all time worst Chicago song". What I find a little over the top on this song is how busy the piano is when really it would have been much more appealing to have the piano playing be not only less but hit and miss. That is called being dynamic. In music, it's important to not only know when to play but when NOT to play. It adds a different effect while enhancing the song too.

You come to my senses sounds like a 2nd grader wrote the lyrics. defenses ... senses ... are you kidding me? That whole era of Chicago 18-21 was just really sad. They were sill trying to get some airplay with a power ballad and they all sounded the same to me. Scheff was just a Cetera understudy. As far as I'm concerned since 17, Night and Day and a few Sisyphus tunes are the only thing they've done that's even listenable. I was their biggest fan from 1-17.
I think they were brilliant on EVERY album from the first one to the last...You Come To My Senses will always be one of those songs that touches me deeply every time I hear it.
so chicago - love it love it love it!!!!!!

wish there was a remastering of this song to clear this up. I wish these guys would have kept making music like this.

It's in SOS, and like the rest of the album, it sucks. I was mad with Warner for not releasing the album, but now I kinda understand them

¡Por supuesto que nos tiene que gustar! Es una magnífica rola que bien pudo haber estado en el disco 21, o en el Stone Of Sisyphus. Saludos.
