I don't really think this would be a good time to quote someone who shot himself...

  • Nice vid I have a bug out bag with everything I need and a 55 gallon water barrel!

  • Once again another well thought out video. Thanks Sooch00!

  • for those of you debating on ammo, ide appoint a few calabers for your escape, where you band togethor with your friends family and go somewhere safe, if you think your going to shoot through 1000 rounds, how many gunfights do you plan to get into? deffinently 1000s of rounds is good, but if your able to shoot through 1000s of rounds theres a good chance you have had returned fire near that ammount.. good chance of dieing lol, invest into .22LR for survival and .223 for defeance

  • I think occupy wall street is a good example of the fact people can get enraged without feeling the real shit yet, once soceity goes unstable it will be hard to get it back, all this stuff should be to keep you alive on your prepared things so you can eventually begin growing your own food, cranking electricity, building your new home (if you live in the city that is) if you dont, your fortunate... Citys turn to shit when the time comes.

  • Ammunition is most importan, along with food, and pain killers, firearms and oil+cleaning supplys, or manuals containing alternative ways of cleaning without the commercial consumeables.. When SHTF, Power here forever, nor gas, therefore.. ammunition is no longer supplyed except for the manual reloaders/producers that require no electricity. Look into EMP protection also for lights and hand crank/bike crank generators, radios etc for storing.

Read (Patriots, Novel of survival in coming colapse

  • Anyone out there know of a dependable/leak proof Jerry-can for fuel? The ones you can get at Walmart cannot be kept indoors. Thank you.

  • Baby ass wipes. One of the most valuable items when times are... tight.

  • Just loaded up my Hurricane prep kit day. I have a feeling the weather down here in Louisiana is going to get bad this season. I have about 2 days right now. I'll get another 2 days next paycheck.

  • Just came upon this video. It's great. Lots of sensible, practical advice. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

  • Only 1000 rounds? 10,000 would be a lot better if shit crashes. It all depends how many armed people you need to equip, how often you will shoot it out, and how long the disaster will last. 1000 just doesnt give a lot of wiggle room. If things go down for weeks...you could blow through 1000 rounds in a few days depending how crazy things get.

  • I'm not buying anything from Wal-Mart or as some people call it "China Central".

  • whats a good hand crank radio? great video once again

  • ...In case of an emergency your hot water tanks are a good source of fresh water. Just make sure they're strapped against the wall.

  • Kurt Cobain lol Great video.

  • trauma is pretty much synonymous with overkill. when speaking of first aid overkill is synonymous with kept alive.

  • @NortonGreg1830 The main concern with fuel storage is evaporation. It is critical to have a really solid seal on your fuel cans. Sta-Bil works well, too.

  • hey thanks Man. Looks like you just woke up from a bad disaster dream, but again NICE

  • MRE's are what you need. God bless America.

  • @MrINVADER727 nahh, get a gun, steel everything

  • @shnizzlebizzle4rizzl So just steal it from other people who...... don't have guns?? You loot, we shoot. Your choice, sport.

  • @phlyingphetus be stealthy, shoot faster

  • Are you a Christian as well? I noticed a Bible verse in there.

  • Hey Sootch, I love your review on food preparedness. I recently watched a video on MRE's from cuttlerylover, and he recommended ONLY buying from MRE Depot to get the real deal. I would also like to get your opinion on a place to buy GOOD QUALITY MRE's for storage and disaster preparedness. Please inform me on where I can find some good value, QUALITY MRE's that are the same or as good as Military ones. Thank you, Sir.

  • @ds10363 MREs are only good because they are compact and relatively lightweight. It's not a bad idea to have a few in case you need to leave on foot, but most of your food ought to be canned or dry. You can buy and store a lot more that way.

  • well theres one thing for sure if the USA will be fucked up(like the rest of the world)itl be harder to fix than the other nations so yeah i believe its different the fear that an aussie and an american should feel america is a grate country but all the classes the ghettos etc could be really hard to control so yeah if im gonna live in the USA i am gonna be prepared as much paranoic people think that is

  • ok yes have cash with you but i have a feeling you would be better off with silver and gold, silver for sure because it does not cost as much and you could trade it more easily.

  • @ar15akg17 All three would be best. We would have to be involved in a very bad, very long term, very widespread disaster before people generally preferred precious metals over currency. Most folks wouldn't know what exchange rate to set anyway.

  • Excellent video & commonsense!

We always keep an emergency backpack with basic medical supplies, a torch, matches, a change of clothes, dry food, batteries, water containers, basic tools, plastic bags, a good multi-purpose knife, sweets (energy) & rope

  • I just discovered your video's awesome job, they are very informative keep up the good work !!!

  • well, in your other video you say you absolutely need 1000 rounds of 223... i dunno about that, but this video I agree with more, heh.

The only thing not mentioned and not brought up in any (recent anyway) comments is fuel and a transport plan.

I always make sure I've got at least a third of a tank in my car, so that worst case, I could siphon it, fill up the motorcycle and jerry can, and go 1200km, bypassing jammed or blocked highways.

thinking about the nuclear power plant 50 km away...

  • Excellent point. Gas would be a major concern. Having spare fuel around would be important. Thanks~

  • @madvlad666 yeah i don't know about the 1000 rounds it should be more like 10,000

  • @madvlad666 Why do you think 1000rnds isnt a good number for you just curious?

  • wow you are so hilarious!

  • I'm glad you think it's funny

  • @Thatbirdwiththecrest sir you are a retard congrats

  • 1 Corinthians 13:11

  • Oh Yes! I've put away childish things :)

  • OMG thank you this is invaluable information, however I had a laugh out loud too. I thought you were promoting the DHS as great and I was ready to remove my subscription when you said you get the Hee bee jeebies thinking about the DHS. They can't save themselves, they'll never be able to save us. Thanks again!

  • Good video. If you are counting on the Dept. of Homeland Insecurity to feed and defend you when all hell breaks loose....you are an idiot. Get a 12g pump, a handgun (glock 17), .22 rifle and a 90 day supply of canned food. I would also have 10-20 gallons of fresh water and bleach to make additional drinking water. Vitamins, toothpaste, and a first aid kit will be worth more than your 401k. God bless America.

  • @freestate239 ....another note: any type of medication will be the new gold in post-apocalyptia

  • Great vid man! A coupla useful tips for being ready for a WROL situation. 5*

You might wish to upgrade your lighting technology though: that HUGE maglite is totally replacable with a much smaller hi-power LED flashlight. You might want to go to Nutnfancy's channel here on YT and search his uploads... just a thought. Thanks a lot man!

  • Thanks Bro, Yeah, I have a ton of excellent flashlights but for anyone just getting the basics together, I decided on a standard light.... plus it can be used as a backup weapon! LOL!

  • I discovered your channel only today so forgive me if I'm not up to speed on your inventory of items. BTW, I totally love Chinese Christmas Shoot Out - great if a bit crazy (or is it great BECAUSE crazy?) vid.

A backup weapon - I totally agree. Even a bad-ass will loathe the thought of being smacked with this thing across the head!

  • You were close. The line is "Just because you're paranoid dont mean they're not after you." Doesn't have anything to do with a disaster, but it's a great line.

Good ideas in the video. If anyone wants to see an example of a good first aid kit, check out Nutnfancy.

  • well done , perfct paranoia makes perfect awaerness

  • I never thought about cash... good idea.

  • Thank you

    Very informative

  • I am 100% about self sufficiency and being self reliant. It is not only best for you, the individual, but it is best for our nation and planet as a whole.

Lets look at the word Government. Govern means "to control". Ment (as in Mental) means "mind". "Government" literally means mind-control. Time to turn off the T.V. and wake up, folks. Quit being divided and conquered along party lines while the real vilians laugh and drink wine.

  • I'm almost certain the suffix ment doesnt mean mental. But your comment really does has some merit.

  • Good video. And you cant always know what you will be getting ready for. It could be a natural disaster or severe weather or something stupid like a car taking out a power line pole and killing electric to your home for a few days. Having some of the basics is a simple but overlooked thing. And you dont have to do it all at once. Put together what you can a little at a time and it builds up.

    Keep the good stuff coming.

  • Tell that to Katrina victums. Complain to the DHS~ Then you'll find out about paranoia.

  • Hello sootch00. This video tells all about being prepared but not about what to be prepared for. Thats why i wrote what i did.

  • I went to your page and thought I had made a mistake :) Sorry. It's a great tool for people who are oblivious. I get a lot of people who are trying to get friends and family to prepare so I made this video. At least it's a start.

    Thanks my friend~

  • You're welcome. nice talking to ya.

  • shared!! thank you

  • Thanks Sharise~ This is a great tool for the "Non-believers" :)

    Hope you get well soon.

  • Great vid. Thank you,I am new to all of this. I have only been prepping for six months .Better late than never.Keep up the good works.

  • great job!

  • Thats very interesting. thank you for putting this video up Sootch!

  • Good video...

I always mention three-day survival kits to friends and acquaintances, using Katrina as an example. This gets them thinking and just might wake them up.

As far as gleaning info from DHS, even a broken clock is right twice a day...

  • Do you have novocaine, lidocaine in your med kit? If so, how does one get these?

  • If you know a Medical professional, they can sometime get "expired" meds. There still good. Just a thought.

  • Maybe a crank flashlight isn't a bad idea either and these days they can be really bright.

  • Excellent video. Nobody knows what to do when something goes wrong. Great thinking. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • Good vid. In New Orleans, when Katrina hit, It was the people the expected the government to take care of them that were left up sh** creek without a paddle. It was the people who took it upon themselves to be prepared and to either leave early or head to higher ground that survied un-scathed, not waiting in the superdome for weeks wondering what their fate would be. Even worse getting stuck in their attics while the water rose trapping them.

  • Part 2: Firearms.

  • I like this!

Sounds like my hurricane bug out list. I sat by my self thru two cat3's and watched the wall's implode. I just opened another beer....

  • Great video Sooch. I like the Bible quote too

  • Funny. When we talk to each other about preparing and gathering some basic needs together, a fair number of people look at us like we're the problem. Yet our own government recommends we do the same, and they're ok with that. Hmmmm...

Great vid. Thanks for all your efforts!!!

  • Great vid, looking forward to part 2.

  • One thing I will highly recommend is if you have a big mag light, get the LED upgrade bulb (high quality ones) for it. I worked at a job where I had to use my mag light literally everyday, for at least an hour a day and the batteries last for months. In fact longer then that. Regular bulbs burn the batteries in a week or two. And the high quality LED bulbs are super bright.

  • You said it man.. great vid..5*****'s

  • indeed. better to be prepared rather than waiting last minute. and how long do water last in the container with out drinking from the container?

hm i have almost everything you have said in this video except for money lols xD

  • great video brother

  • great video 5's

  • Your videos are always so informative and interesting to watch. Thanks so much!

  • fight the new world order that is forming infront us,

  • the GOV does not protect you. our constitution was written so the Government serves the republic and the people protect themselves. no one even knows what our country is anymore. the patriot act killed your rights, more are being stripped everyday. DC is pushing for a one world GOV. look it up people. wake up, there is a revolution brewing and most of you dont even know it. DHS and FEMA are evil!! get guns! "anyone that sacrifices liberty for security, deserves neither libert nor security"BF

  • Amen Brother~

  • Great Video

  • Good video and a couple of things I would add:

To conserve water usage pack handi-wipes, toddler training toothpaste (safe to swallow), and no rinse shampoo for personal hygiene.

Granola and energy bars make for lightweight emergency food supplies.

A crank flashlight in addition to a crank radio (some models have both in the same unit) means there is no need for batteries.

    Toilet paper

    A good knife

  • 5 Stars for quoting Kurt Cobain in a Survival Preparedness Vid.

  • Goood video.

  • Prepare for the worst... Hope for the best. Right on Great video

  • great video, its very cool.

  • Just Because You Are Paranoid Does Not Mean They're Not Watching You

  • awsome video man

  • Thanks again for that vid.

Please ask your friends for a Music CD :-)

    Best wishes from germany

  • Hooah , good video man Part 2 would be cool , stay safe

  • iodine tablets are also good for radiation fall out areas.

  • Really nice video as usual.

It's also good to keep some money in quarters for phone calls in case the land lines are still working.

  • You don't see many pay phones anymore, everybody relies on cell service...

  • that there pamphlet you have i picked one up at my granddaughter's pediatrician office.

  • Well said,

Now where's the self defense weapon?

  • Part 2 will cover that part... not sanctioned by DHS! LOL!

    Long Live the Republic!

  • Don was rolling that beautiful bean footage!

  • Hey Sootch, awsome video man. What do you use to edit your videos with and is ir free?

  • It is good to see you back. :-)

  • Dang, Don.... You just scored some mega cool points for the Cobain quote.

  • i say just lock an load an git ready to kik some ass

  • Smart and good emphasis on the protection and well being of family being paramount in these survival situations. There's a trend toward seeing survivalists as paranoid or fanatics, which is a lie in most cases.

This is simply the actions of a father and husband to do what is necessary so his family has water to drink, food to eat, and medical care on hand.

  • in the immortal words of our dear leader

"Al Qaeda is still a threat. We cannot pretend somehow that because Barack Hussein Obama got elected as president, suddenly everything is going to be OK."

    Barack Obama

  • My God what a flashlight... Sootch invest in a nice l.e.d. Good video.

  • LOL! Just for demonstartion... and as a billy club! I'm over run with light sources :)

  • Thanks for another inspirational and informative video. * * * * * *

"Failure to prepare is preparing to fail"

    -Benjamin Franklin

  • Makes good sense. I plan to put one together this week. Good video.

  • sootch -

Another excellent and very informational video. You are doing a great service urging preparation. Looking forward to Part 2!

Great tip to include cash in small bills and to consider the weight of water requirements which clarifies the need for ready water source and the capability for water purification.

    ★★★★★

    Keep up the great work!

  • i hope you have hebe jebe cream in your med kit....good vid...

  • I hope your set up for the long haul. Months I mean.

  • Excellent vid as always!

Something you may want to look into for your medical kit is an item called Quick Clot. It's a powder you can dump into a wound that will stop virtually any hemorrhage.

There are similar items out there as well, like Trauma Dex, that work well also. Although I've heard they are exothermic and can cause burns. Can't confirm that though....

  • Your videos are soooo good. You make people think. Thanks Don.I think the way you do.Don't go crazy but be prepared.5*s without saying.

  • sootch00 you are a pee-imp!

  • the tablets that i have had taste bad

  • Nice basic bug out bag info. I cannot come up with a three day emergency scenario. Three months, three years, three decades sure, but three days? Those are all good items to have on hand. People should planning like a week long camping trip, if they are bugging out of their home.

It's too bad most Americans will head to the Superdome, and hope that FEMA or Red Cross will take care of them.

  • Much agreed. This is for those who aren't preparing at all. I have a lot of people email about their family and freinds not listening and this is a super emergency set-up. Personally, I'm over the top on being prepared, but the majority of the people out there are oblivious. Thanks~

  • Excellent video. I always have a lot of extra cans of food on hand, like spam, spam is good food. I have water of course too. And I always keep 628 dollars on hand, just in case, because you never know when you might have to skip town, and you wouldn't want "then" to track your movements by the use of your ATM card. Do I sound paranoid?

  • Sootch...be careful...those walmart 6 gallon water containers are notorious leakers. I have three and two of them leak.

  • Thanks, I'll keep an eye on them. The ones I have bought have been full for 6 months with no leaks but good to know.

  • Excellent! The media sure is putting a lot of survival shows on lately, I wonder if thats a reflection of our interest in it or maybe they are trying to tell us something?

  • Good job sootch!!

  • ★★★★★

    SOOTCH00 PREVAILS!

  • Great video as always5*****......I just cant stand the DHS deal.....lol but seriously!

  • I've got 2 5 gallon buckets full of dry goods stored in mylar bags with o2 absorbers. I have 35 caned goods pulse a hole bunch of shelf stable food. as for water i have three 5 gallon carboys(Glass jugs) ready to go.

  • sootch00 where did you find that emergency space blanket like that? I see red ones on the internet, but I want a green one like you have there.....

  • I've had it for years. I'm not sure where I got it. It even has gromets to use as a shelter. I wish I could find more. Sorry~

    Thanks!

  • That cabella's link I sent you has an olive colored one like yours. Yeahhhhhhhhh found one.......... Stock up on these thermal blankets guys!!!!!

  • Most excellent~ Thanks for sharing!

  • Good video! Hope people start listening soon!

  • this is alot like my "zombie" survival kit........now don't get me wrong when i say zombie i'm not talking about actual living dead i just figure it as a fun way of saying the downfall / failure of society which has been known to and probably will happen again

  • Yea i like your comment! : )

  • Good Info, good delivery, good music = great video, Thanks

  • Homeland Security also suggest selling off all of those ussless firearms you own as well as that ammo they will protect you im sure of it!

    nice vid 5 stars

  • I'll get to that in part 2 :) That's where we split on opinions! LOL!

    Thanks~

  • A paranoid man, is a man that knows too much. LOL

Whatever "they" say, quadruple it at the least.

  • great vid. I agree that it's good to be prepared and also to be self reliant. The key thing is self reliance. If you know how to be that way and be prepared, you shouldn't end up in a "survival situation"(a situation where you are in need of more self sufficiency because of the lack of it in my definition).

  • you make some of the best videos out there!

  • Do you have a brother? (ha)

  • Thank you , Great video with Great advice

  • after i watch your vids i know i can depend on your information to help keep me and my family safe...thank you

  • wait my bad i didnt hear the heebie jeebie part lol

  • Oh yeah, I made sure I added that... actually, it gives me more than the heebie Jeebies but I was trying to be reasonable :)

  • That thermal blanket is perfect for hiding from infrared and thermal imaging from attack type helicopters. I love it that it is green too. red will defeat the purpose, But I suppose I can spray paint it. The red one I saw is just like yours........

  • man why arent you awake yet wtf is wrong with you

  • Thats good info. Keep it coming!

  • Great video man! Full of great info!
