A lot of horror characters like Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, etc. will kill for the sake of killing. People in real life have done that. Filmakers are just bringing that to life in one way or another.
I just read one of the coolest horror screenplays of all time! It's at Circalit.com. It's called Something In Return, and it's fucking crazy!
You have to become a member, but it's free and simple and absolutely worth it.
The story's about a devil-worshiper who has to sacrifice his son to claim immortality. Talking about one seriously wild and disturbing story. It's gonna make one hell of a movie!
@devil6lock totally agree that censorship is utter bull. the point of horror is to scare you and to see things you wouldn't see necessarily in normal life. but the censors think it will give people ideas - - if these people do terrible things based on movies then they were sick in the head to start with. i watch scary movies and it doesn't mean that i'm going to replicate what i see censors need to see horror for what it is and that is artistic expression. LONG LIVE HORROR!!!!!
The critisism of any director that you went too far is just tottaly bullshit. I can relate so much to that because I was trying to make my own horror movie at school, it wasnt very good but i've improved on it over the years, and the principal put an end to it because it would "give students ideas",he said that was his worst nightmare for a student to actually commit those actions,so i kinda did win a bit by scaring him but my movie still hasnt been made, well not yet at least, long live horror!
I made a film for a school film festival, but the school wanted me to tone it down. I didn't but I told them that I did. The school was stupid enough not to check if I did or didn't Everyone saw the uncensored violence. The people in charge were PISSED but I got the last laugh because everyone saw the film in it's entirety and because it won the award for best actor. It was also in third place overall.
well that depends what you want to do with your movie, If you want to feature it in your schools film festival (if it has one) then it may be a problem. The major problem with my film was that it took place at a school so I wasnt allowed to film it on my campus once they found out about the content. They never told me about gore, they were more concerned about language, but that depends on how uptight your school is, but i say do it so at least you can say that you've made a movie
@Horror3000 i made small little horror movies, but nothing to big. there are not very good lol, but i am proud of them. can u give me some tips on how to make a good horror movie?
@JoshVlogs Well send me a link, i'd love to see them. Its good that your proud of them, I'm proud of my movie, even though the ending was rushed and not what the original script had in mind
@The316trav Actually i decided to make it anyway, its been done for a few months now and is getting a lot more views then i've expected! you can check it out on my channel if you'd like, long live horror!
@Horror3000 Completely agree. Too bad people have to be so sensitive and ban what they don't like. People have a right to their opinion, but no one should tell anyone, film maker in this case, what they can and cannot put on film.
@sumpmiffot Yes, its a shame, but my attitude was fuck it, my film has been done now sice about 4 months ago! you can check it out on my channel if you'd like. Long live horror!
man he's got some pretty good ones, last house on the left, hills have eyes, wishmater, serpent and the rainbow, shocker like you said good one,but kinda underated and a whole bunch of others.
Shocker was a really cool film. Good acting, great cinematography, outstanding special effects, outstanding music and good story. Sucks that it gets beaten down all the time. LHOTL was also a Wes Craven classic.
I think censorship played a big role in the films release date because some of films were not released until year or two after they made due to cuts of the censorship so very well could been made in 1987 or 1988

I was thinking today that horror filmmakers aren't creating evil and bad things. They're just bringing it into the light.

Maybe I should get myself a mainstream director to produce the horror transcript I have been working on. When It Rains... It Pours.

People are outraged because the dont allow theirselves to see the horror in everyday life, they block it out. So yes censorship is bullshit

Hmm, I couldn't help but notice an error in years, it said Shocker was released in 1987. Actually, it was released in 1989.

I think they were saying they made it in 1987

Okay, that's a good explanation seeing as how I did that the film was cut down to a few minutes or so.

Wes Craven is an Inspiration to me, he's such a brilliant movie maker,
love how he cuts out Horror Articles from newspappers.. like me.
