  • Please anyone make a vid of the Chorus, really want to hear that. The Chorus makes the decision for me. It has to be much like the classic from the jc120 and the sound Metallica get from the jc120. Really don´t like any other Chorus than Rolands jc120

  • @Masterfighterx i think the chorus is quite good :P

  • to get both A and B switches working I need to plugin to A-B jack in the center right?

  • @nbl23 If you mean the FS6 pedal them you'll need either a stereo to stereo lead or a lead with 2 mono jacks one and and a stereo jack the other as the Cube 40XL has stereo jack footswitch inputs.

  • @NevadaMusicUK : yes I was talking about the FS6 pedal. Thanks for the quick reply.

  • I baught the CUbe 40XL yesterday and I like it! :-)

  • may i know if you are selling the pedal for this amp? cause mine didn't come with it and if so, how much are you selling it for?

  • @SpardaKnight2 You can use the Boss FS6 twin pedal or the single FS5 pedals as well as other brands too. Check our website for current prices.

  • @NevadaMusicUK ok, thank you

  • This guy killed me......Huge talent huge skills huge spirit. Btw 40xl kicks ass too;)

  • This bloke could make any amplifier sound good!

  • does it have footswitch. sory for my bad english

  • @ammar828 It doesn't come with a footswitch, but you can connect up to three double footswitches

  • one of the best guitar players I have ever heard - can "eat" enything!!!

  • I have the roland cube 40xl i love the sound and the power it has for a small amp

can anyone tell me good settings for a megadeth, metallica, slayer kind of sound? some thrashy sound

  • @666ThrashManiac for slayer try with mid down to 0 and bass/treble all the way up

  • I have 20XL Sounds very good

  • I always really dislike it when they demo a product by playing over a backing track. I want to hear what the item sounds like on its own, not partially covered up by background music.

  • Alex could play a 2-string banjo and make it sound awesome!

  • This guy is good.

  • sick guitarist

  • I have one and it's flawed by a constant hissing (ssshhhhhh) noise from both the speaker and headphones/direct out which Roland claim is a characteristic of the amp. Otherwise it would be a great amp but I wouldn't recommend it.

  • @stsly Anytime you ask Roland a question they tell you it is the characteristic of the unit , B.S

  • Alex Hutchings plays so well I find it offensive.

  • i love that looped song :3

  • This guy ROCKS!

  • Hi. Just bought a 40W (had a 80W before). I thought the 80 was too much for my small home room where I practiced and this was the reason of the unwanted feedback (I play archtops). Now with the 40W the feedback seems worse. I just wasted money. Is there any chance to reduce the feedback using jazz archtop guitars. I dont play loud and the feedback is really anyoing. Thanks. Great playing, you rock! CB - cheers froM Brazil.

  • @bluejazzcat I know people who have stuffed sheets down in the archtop, also foam...thats what the famous loud blues rocker George Thorogood did. If you have the standard f-holes in the archtop you can also buy f-hole covers that stop the feedback... this way you can basically play about as loud as you want.

  • Can i use any foot pedal i want with this amp?

  • where do you get the footpedals?

  • Albatross! A+.

  • Hey im new to Electric Guitars and Amps. I wanna buy an Amp.. but i need suggestions whether should i buy this Amp or another.. i want to play Slipknot or Limp Bizkit songs. So is this the right Amp to play their songs?

  • @wsonu578 this is a great amp, it can be used for anything you want to play, from jazz untill metal. i got one myself and im realy happy with it. you can buy another amp but i think the roland cube is the cheapest for its quality. other things i can recommend to you are line 6 and marshall, but the problem is that these amps are realy expensive. hope that helped.

  • @twandeman666 i brought my 40x cube amp 5 days ago. and i have noticed that JC Clean Solo Mode Volume give normal sound but when i switch to Lead Solo Mode it give low Volume. i cannot share the video in comments section if u want to watch it please Message me. cuz i can't seem to message you. im waiting for your reply

  • @wsonu578 so it only gives low volume in when turned to lead? i think it is a technical problem. maybe you have to go back to the store and ask them. coz that isnt normal. maybe it is just a loose wire or something like that. hope that helped

  • @twandeman666 yea it gives low Volume when im in Lead Solo Mode. in normal Lead Mode it gives normal volume check this video out " youtubedotcom/watch?v=O46m3MYzuJM " (put "." instead of dot in the URL i wasn't able to share the actually URL here) also try with your Amp (with my settings you'll see in my video) and tell me whether does it sound same or do i have a defected Amp? Thanks im waiting for your reply

  • You have great phrasing and command over the guitar sir! Bravo.

  • Sunny Portsmouth ~ Now I know he's lying !!

  • I have an older 30W and 80W. Both are great. The little one has been dropped and rained on (yes, it's true and I'm not proud of it), and it still works great. I replaced the speaker with a Jensen after a bass player blew out the old one. (I'm not normally an amp abuser.) I treasure these amps for their clean sound (JC Channel). The Tweed amp setting is great for blues. Obviously, highly reliable. And Alex Hutchings is terrific. Watch just to hear him play.

  • does the footswitch have to be a specific one for the looper and channel switching?

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... @xxDunkOrDiexx I have the Boss FS-5L which is a single latching pedal. I switch it out depending on my needs. The Cube has four different inputs in the back, each shares a dual function. The same switch will work in all inputs, but unless you buy the Boss FS-6, you will need more than one FS-5L to access looping and switch channels at the same time. Hope that makes sense....

  • nice amp, sweet guitar playing.

  • This guy must have done every single Gran Turismo soundtrack!

that jazz is Great! (to quote the fast show lol)

  • is the cube 40 loud enough to play along with drums?

  • @UltiMogr Yup! Easily.

  • what is he playing at 2:08 ? i keep hearing that lick as an opening to a jazz/blues show on the radio and i have no idea where it's from. it's too good not to be something famous but i don't know it :))

  • мастер респект...

  • Keep on mind that alex can make ANYTHING sound good

  • K ALEX, WHEN THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA MAKE AN ALBUM?!?!?

  • This guy can't play ANY jazz (listen to Wes Montgomery or Grant Green). The facial grimacing is really annoying. Like man, you are not all that.

  • @nakim55 - yeah, right, because, like, you are "all of that", you can play all the styles he does with all the fluidity and taste that he has... umm, what was the name of your first album....? have a seat wanker. You may only like the style of Wes or Grant, but having played jazz all my life, can clearly state definitively that this guy is capable of playing jazz. And if you think guitar playing or jazz is about the face at all you are in serious need of therapy and music lessons.

  • such a SWEET tone!!!!

  • could you tell me all the differences between 20xl and 40xl?

  • I also want to know how to get that great Jazz tone! Straight thru or pedals, eh?

  • Cool Amp! This dudes a bad ass guitarist too.........

  • 2:15, what beutiful song, where do I get it, or Alex's abulm?

  • I was wondering if you be so kind as to tell me the exact set-up you using to get that Jazz sound? I see U have several foot-pedals, are they the reason for that sound and what settings are u using on the Roland Cube. That's the best Jazz sound I have ever heard from a small inexpensive amp. The sounds are great, but I know much of that sound must come from the pedals

  • @Gregabalese - the foot pedals are just nonlatching switches - they are ONLY turning things on and off in the amp. Everything you hear in this is coming from the Cube alone. That's usually the point of the demos... :)

  • The high water mark for demos on You Tube. Roland ought to be paying him commission on each amp sold.

  • what guitar will sound better on this amp? Vintage V100 or Epiphone G400 ltd edition silverburst?

  • holy crap -great, versatile playing! moving to the uk soon and need an amp that can cover a lot of ground - think this may be the one...

  • Are these available in US stores also?

  • This is a fucking amazing amp. Im sad I bought the orignal cube though

  • Hi Alex can you stop doing demo's? your to bloody good my man and I'm jealous cos I play like shit compared you you.... only joking fantastic playing...

  • I always played acustic guitar, i'm moving to electric now

i'm wondering if the amp comes with all the cables needed

I don't know much about electric guitars or amps

  • @666ThrashManiac amps come with the power cables but the cable to connect guitar to amp you have to buy seperately. best of luck! \m/

  • @bloodbird6six6 thanks dude

  • this playing is so beautiful it nearly makes me cry ... i am playing metal, though

  • This seems awesome....why I need a tube amp and expensive pedals again?

  • does anyone know if this amp can be heard over drums?

  • @Hissael Yes, it can be, definitely.

  • @ddmr7 thank you

  • love his face when he enters play mode! <3

  • this guy is a really versatile guitarist. he surprised me on just how good his metal playing is as well as his jazz.

  • @drkenun Indeed, I want his album, didnt find anything yet....

  • I bought this amp, i have to say... i test this amp(Roland 40xl R$ 890,00) and after i test a Marshall mg50(R$ 1600,00), Roland ROcks!!!!!!!

  • Damn this dude can play and the recording is really nice. Great Demo!

  • Bought a 40XL on the back of this video and online reviews. Very pleased, great mix of amp and pedal sounds, and very loud. But the 'Power Squeezer' pulls down the output for bedroom use. Just got a little MP3 player for backing tracks and plan to get a bunch of footswitches from Thomann. Overall a good buy!

  • which pickups are those?

  • love all yur demo..clear information..good pic too.

i love yur playing man..if given a wish..i will wish to play guitar like u..

good tone too..if u were in my country i will want to learn playing guitar like u.

    thumbs up Mr Alex.. :)

  • albatros mmm, loving it

  • Don't knock the cubes, i love my little 20xl Awesome playing man.

  • does anyone know how the response on this amp is? Does it react well to harder digs picking wise?

Have a strat & need that bite lol.

  • How are the distortion settings on this amp? Sometimes they can be a bit processed for my liking on most modelling amps...

  • I want tabs from that solo when he starts playin at 2:05

  • 4:05 more Heavy Sound

  • Great Amp. I've bought it today. It's works fine with my Fender Standard Stratocaster and my Gibson Cs-336.

Thank your Alex for your review and your fantastic style.

  • This guy is a great Jazz player, sounds good in this amp.

  • Im gonna buy it =D

  • Got one! It goes bery well with my Jackson Kelly :)

  • Is it also possible to connect to this amp to another amp ?

  • I love this guys playing style!

  • I am in a bit of trouble... I am looking at buying a Roland Cube XL series. I do band reheasals/gigs and I am not sure if the XL 40 would be powerful enough. Should I go with the XL 40 or the 80?

  • @Reaper12894

i was just at the guitar shop and the bloke said it has enough volume to play over the drums ect. in a real gig, so..

  • @Reaper12894 depends on drummer,i would recomend buying the 60 watt version(if your drummer hits like a psycho) :) but i think 40 would be loud enough, try them both in the store :)

  • @Reaper12894 CUBE 80 IS WAY TOO POWERFUL AND ITS USE FOR LIVE NOT BAND PRAC I THNK GO FOR CUBE 40 I OWN IT AND ITS AWESOME IT HAS THE SAME INPUTS AND HARDWARE AND TEST IT THE SOUNDS ENOUGH FOR A AUDIENCE IN A HALL

  • @Reaper12894 I bought the Roland Cube 80XL and I love it! Its way better than the 40 XL and I was in the same situation you are in-which one to get(since they are both good). Besides the obvious power difference the 80 has more features....First of all it has a 12 inch speaker compared to the 10 inch one in the 40xl so you will have more bottom end. The 80xl also has an extension speaker jack so you could hook it up to a bigger cabinet if you wanted(that is nice but no need for it yet)....

  • @Reaper12894 Also, it has a presence control on the 80 so you have more tonal options(it is very effective),the JC Clean channel also has a bright switch which works wonders if you have a humbucker equipped guitar like my Ibanez and it brightens up your clean sound....and the 80 also has an extra amp model-The Deluxe Combo which models a Fender Deluxe Twin which is a great amp for bluesy and country sounds.Anyways, hope that helps you out some I bought mine for $349 new and its worth every cent

  • pick of destiny. i knew it.

  • Cool performance Alex!

  • this spring reverb sounds bad^^

  • What guitar is this lad using?

Looks a little like a music man

  • Love how this guy plays, especially that jazzy stuff :)

  • This has been torturing me in confusion for quite some time now... How do you set up the BOSS dual pedals? I read that you need a "TRS y-cable". Does the cable give each switch on the pedal its own function? Somebody please help...

  • @Reaper12894 Hey man- I just made a dual footswitch like the boss fs-6 for a cube 80x, it still doesn't work great with the delay/looper but it works perfectly with the channel switching and solo option. The trick is having a stereo cable connecting the amp to the footswitch. To tell the difference look at the plug of a regular cable (mono) and the plug of a stereo cable. The stereo plug has an extra line on the smooth part which enables both pedals to work. Hope this helps

  • @Reaper12894 actuall i just saw in the video that the boss footswitches have 2 inputs- so stereo cable probably wont help you. sorry for the confusion!

  • god damn thats good playing....leave it to the brits to move you with that damn guitar

  • That sound at 4:07 is hard to believe that it comes from that amp alone!!!!

  • My Cats and Lab gravitate to this Demo.

Alex is a tremendous Player it's criminal that he isn't signed.

Boy if a Chet Atkins or a Rudy Van Gelder heard Alex he'd be in New York City yesterday.

Best New Guy I've heard since DiMeola's "Land Of The Midnight Sun" Debut a million years ago.

Someone call Wayne Shorter about this guy.

  • the reverb is the same as the boss fender stompbox ..fuckin drip cave ..horrible .. the rest of the amp seems fine

  • Very good demo

  • great feeling !!

  • Neat video. What's the guitar you're playing?

  • not 7:08 7:22

  • wow nice gonna buy it and 7:08 is awsome!!

  • homeboy's got it! He's happenin!

  • Man, Roland need to make a 150watt amphead version of the Cube. I'd buy it.

  • is this amp loud enough for gigging ?

  • holy shit 2:30 magically apearing pick lmfao

  • is it a tube amp?

  • Got 1 of these 4 my B-day. Sounds great but really only good 4 practice or recording. It has a lot of bass so as it gets louder the speaker over extends causing speaker pharting. If you want one to play through in your band go with the Cube 80XL. It's not that much more expensive (pretty cheap actually) with more features, power. and a 12 inch (30 cm) speaker.

  • amazing music feel!

  • Great review, can U make a review of the VOX vt+ series, 20w or 40w? Thanks.

  • What is the setting that you had for the jazz sound starting at 6:08. Nice smooth soung.

  • the sound is to clean to be that sm57...i believe we are hearing an output capture of some sort...

  • @squidskunk Nope just an SM57, Alex's Musicman has that hi fidelity sound. Cube amps do have a fair bit of sparkle on the clean channels.

  • @NevadaMusicUK I think it sounds like a noise gate

  • Beautifull song (1st one) and skilled playing throughout... I sure hope I can play like that some day. I think I am getting the cube 40 for my new les paul supreme knock off. I can't wait!

  • can you line this amp out or does it need to be mic'd? i know it has a record out/phones output..

  • Amazing sound!!!!!!

  • Sir I went to a Joe Satriani concert and was amaze but you on the other hand are incredible. How you can play anything and can change tempo beat sounds on a dime. Love the way you play the sound you develope and you are very fast. Can't understand how an agent has not pick you up or became famous WOW. I play guitar wish I had half of your talent

  • i'm gonna get mine this week just ordered it now

  • The one guy who disliked this must of received a Peavey Vyper for Christmas and his mother lost the receipt.

  • this amp doesn't only feature clean sounds a bit more metal would be appreciated

  • his music sounds like it should be in an M&S advert

  • It doesnt look like he's plugged in. FAIL

  • @MitchRulzWorld he is. you can see it. he's plugged in by the cable coming out of his guitar and going into the amp.

  • can anyone help me?Can I use it while sum1 is drumming next to me?

  • Top of my Christmas list

  • @ThaMrNacho Mine too ;)

  • @ThaMrNacho Mine too!

  • nice one at 2:05 albatross by fleetwood mac

i love alex hutchings he is an awesome guitar player

  • Someone please answer before x-mas.

Is this amp loud enough for a 5 man band?

  • @DirtbikesRfun2ride IT WILL BE

  • @DirtbikesRfun2ride

Defienetly!!! 40watts is enough for band practise and little gigs!

  • Sweet review, I want one! Shouldn't you be living in a megapad in the states or you gave it all up because you love Portsmouth?

  • Can i get the tabs to 2:05?

  • what the difference between these new XL's and the old X models? On every website the X models are more expensive than these new ones.. I dont get it.

  • @Christopherwilder47 the looper isn't available on the old models, and some amp models/channels/effects

  • @theoriginaldimi ok thank you. well, why is it cheaper then? if it has more features, why??

  • @Christopherwilder47 My bet is that there's more competition now then when the X's came out. Now there's the Vypyrs, Vox has the new VT+ series, Fender just launched the Mustang's, Line 6 updated their Spiders... retail price is based on the market, not on actual cost level. Also adding models and looper probably didn't have a serious effect on piece price. I very much doubt that Roland is selling them at a loss.

  • Is it worth an upgrade from the Cube 30x soundwise (not taking the extra features in to account)? Has anybode done a side by side test? Thanx

  • I think Alex is an asset to Roland. Just like Johnny DeMarco, Gary Lenaire, and all the others. Awesome player and teacher. I like his playing. It's awesome.

  • love his jazzy shit

    lol

  • Roland has done a nice job with the Cube series of amps. You definitely get a lot of amp for your money. The COSM amp models are really usable live and very easy to dial in. I just picked up a Cube 80XL at a guitar show outside of Philly earlier today for only $299. This amp usually goes for $349. I wish they included at least one of the footswitches with it. It would also be great if the amp could make me sound as good as Alex! LOL!

  • He should really cut his hair, he would look a lot better. Sick player though.

  • A lot of these professional demoers, as in the ones that work for the companies like Roland, always do their demos with backing tracks. That tends to get on my nerves, because then you can't really hear the tone of the gear like you could if there wasn't the backing track. Maybe that's why they do it.

  • @guitardbucket You really want to check out the Roland UK Band Perform @ Nevada Music UK vid. Three Roland demoers playing completely live--brilliantly.

  • @guitardbucket You really need to look at : Roland UK Band Perform @ Nevada Music UK vid. Three Roland demoers playing their socks off completely live.

  • are they good for metal ?

  • love cube amps !

  • is there any genre of music this cat cant groove to?

    nice multi purpose amp too

  • love i mean love the guitar this guy is playing.

  • I don't know what I want more, the amp or that Axis

  • I have got to get this!!!!!!!!!

  • go to 2:05 !!

  • @joeperry47

    What should be there?

  • @joeperry47 what song is it?
