"To members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Stick of Joseph is a reference to the Book of Mormon, taken from a passage in the King James Version of the Bible, Ezekiel 37:16-19. In this passage, the term "stick", refers to a scroll (or book), and, in particular, the "stick of Joseph" is believed to refer to the Book of Mormon, while the "stick of Judah" is believed to refer to the Bible." - Wikipedia
In scripture, many prophesies are fulfilled in many ways - this is one.
With all due respect, this is a faulty interpretation of Ezekiel. Elder Packer (and others) are reading their interpretation into the passage instead of inductively determining the meaning from the passage. When one looks at the context, it is clear that Ezekiel is talking about the regathering of Israel after their captivity (read Ezekiel 37:20-21).
i dont understand , are you implying the ten tribes have returned? because where is then the stick of joeseph? if not the BOM written by the children of lehi, then what stick of joseph....sorry but....jews are from judah...even if they return from captivity, they are still jews from judah
No, I am not implying that the 10 tribes have returned. It is clear from the context of the passage that the two sticks are related to the regathering of the Jews into Israel. This occurred in part. But in order to say that this passage is talking about the Book of Mormon, you have to read that meaning into the text. The context doesn't refer to the writing of scripture. I do not see how you can infer that it is referring to the children of Lehi or the Book of Mormon.
Nice explanation of Ezekiel's prophecy in Ezekiel 37: 15-19 of the stick of Judah (the Bible) and the stick of Ephraim (the Book of Mormon) and their supporting roles.
