  • ***PLEASE READ @DJDADocter I WANT THIS MACHINE BUT FL IS TOO EXPENSIVE AND ALL I KNOW HOW TO USE IS GARAGEBAND. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A DIFFIRENT SOFTWARE THAT IS EASY OR A DIFFERENT INSTRUMENT PAD?? AND CAN I TAKE PARTS FROM A SONG AND PUT THEM ON CERTAIN BEATS? (ex: kanye west - stronger)

  • umm.. do you really need to install the disk drive?... can you use the mpd 18 without it?... because i got a laptop that has no disk drive and this might be a problem for me =(...

  • @xR3TrOx I don't think so, Give it a try.

  • @DJDADoctor yeah it works fine with it.. didn't need to add no hardware just plugged it in and it started working.. thanks btw =)

  • can i replace fruity loops with reaper?

  • @RichieRaanger Right click on the fader you want, then click: Link To Controller, a menu will pop up, then just move the knob you want to assign it to, and you're done!

  • can use virtual dj???

  • @chammo97

I think you might be able to use the mpd18 with vdj. I know that I can use it in my torq progam. So I would like to say yes. play around with it, that is the best way to find out how things work.

  • @DJDADoctor

  • @DJDADoctor do u realy need the m audio or do u just prefer it for torque

  • @kkb94 Torq is made by M-Audio!!!

  • You rock doc!

  • hi, nice tutorial ty for that,

but i'm not getting the fpc plugin u know why?

  • @recordproducersrule im using logic 'express' and I dont own one of these but I work a lot around samples and im sure you can record the samples directly into an empty logic file and export the vocal bursts and save them in the loops folder and then simply drag and drop the samples into the specific pads. hope this helps mate

  • can it also work with pro tools M-powered 8 ? cuz dats wat I got but I see alot of people usin' this with FL studio most of the time

  • Thanks dude ;)

  • do u need torq?

  • hey one question...

when you buy a akai mpd18 does it come with its own software?

or i'll need fruity loops or something?

cuz im plannin to buy one

    peace!

  • @kpkopo No you will have to get FL Studio or some other music making progam

  • @DJDADoctor Thanks spread the knowledge. You should redo this video better tho lol

  • @kpkopo I did make a better video, take a look at my Channel.....It dose not have to be FL Sudio..... but it has to be a music producer progam

  • @DJDADoctor would garageband work?

  • @ukraineTRAIN66 yes, i've used it in garageband

  • @DJDADoctor OH but one last final question. what kind of FL studio you have? and does all FL studio work on midi pad? like producer, signature, fruity version...

  • @trannyballs

This MPD18 is a great little toy........So with saying that, there are other progams you can use for the MPD18.....I am not sure on how much these other progams cost. I do know that I have the best luck with FL Studio, Abelton Live M-aduido Torq.

What I think is the best thing for you to do is, Maybe buy FL Studio. Then once you play around with FL Studio and you have saved up get the AKAI MPD18. Trust me if you do that you will thank me.

Hope things work out for you

  • what program can you use for this? does it come with one? can you use it on garageband?

  • @BakerGangURI

You can use this with any music program

  • thanks

  • ok well can you load mp3 files onto the mpd18. or does it have to be in a certain format. im going to purchase one soon so thanks, 5/5 stars

  • When you use the MPD 18 with FL Studio there are drum loops in the progam there for you to use.....You can also use your own loops with the MPD 18. I beleive that the loops are in a WAV format. I am sure you can use MP3 format too as well.....Good luck and keep me posted.

  • you dont need torque (or w.e) to make beats right ? i just want to make beats . so all i need is FL studio or anything else and load drum samples and im good to go ?

  • You don't need Torq.....If you just want to make beats, then all you need is FL Studio and all or drum loops and samples. If you are a DJ, you can use the MPD 18 with your DJ progams.

  • @DJDADoctor ok thanks really good vid 5/5 stars. im going to buy the MPD18 soon so ill definitely be watchin this vid again lol

  • i try everything you told me but when i hit the pads sound does not show up

  • Could you use the MPD18 in a metal band for 808's rather than a drum module?

  • You need to have this MPD18 hooked up to a pc to use.........So if you do that then maybe, but I am think not tho. I have never done that before

  • Thanks so much man. I just got one

  • do u need a computer for the mpd..

  • thanx bro, good looking out

  • Will it work in Cubase? I'm interested in making beats in the AKAI and put them in to Cubase...

  • I am sure It will, I have not yet used Cubase.... I am sure that it will work. I know it works with FL Studio and Live. Good luck!!! Let me know if it dose work with Cubase.

  • @skrikon the mpd18 is designed to work with all programs so ur good and i know for a fact it works with cubase

  • ok i got my mpd18 working on fl studios but when i add a drum sound it only lets me add it on one pad.when i use a different sound on a different pad they play together.how do i play them appart.

  • Hey there bud,

I Know what the promble is....I will make a Video to help you out. I think If I do an other video it might answer everyones question....I will try and have this video done sometime tomorrow night.

  • how do you get save and load presets?

  • take a look at the video again. I show you how to do that!

  • but what if you have reason 4

  • how did you install it on fl studio ?

  • You don't have to install it to FL Studio, Just go to Channels, then go to add one, then FPC. The drum pand will open in a window, then from there you should be able to use you MPD18!

  • @DJDADoctor do you need to go to options midi settings and select the mpd18 or directly you went to the fpc ?

  • When You go to FPC your MPD18 will work right from there. FL Studio knows that the MPD18 is working when you plg it in.

  • Anytime that is why I did it

  • awsome tutorial dude really helped me out!
