To Elemetalman-- "Train Kept a Rollin" originally performed by the Moving Sidewalks??? Huh?? You mean in 1951 when Tiny Bradshaw wrote it and recorded it, or before Johnny Burnette had a minor hit with it in the early 1960s?
You cannot compare Led Zeppelin, a band that has sold over 200 million records and has long been considered the greatest rock band of all time to The Pretenders. The Pretenders have most likely sold a fraction of sales, and countless musicians have been influenced by Robert Plant's godly vocals, John Bonham's thunderous drumming, John Paul Jones's versatility, and Jimmy Page's guitar prowess. I have yet to hear of anyone cite "The Pretenders" as a vital influence.
@andmoreagain9 johnny winter blew those british pansies led zepellin off the stage in 3 secounds they were in the audiance when johnny played they were in a state of shock i could see them you cant beat american ingenuity
@spacepatrolman If you cant beat American ingenuity then how come the Americans LOVED Zeppelin. Zeppelin was huge in the US while they were barely known in England. Led Zeppelin is probably the most American British band there is since they toured the US so many times. Johnny Winter, although amazing musician, has not gotten to the point of Godlyness that is Led Zeppelin.
@TheHuMoCa ten years after was bigger in the US so was chad and jeremy all well and good but the US gets all the nobel prizes led zep is not god they are too crude and sloppy johnny plays better sings better page doesnt sing plant doesnt play guitar the pretenders are big in england because chrisie hynde is smarter than they are
@spacepatrolman Intelligence has nothing to do with a Rock & Roll band, most people do it because they refuse to work in factories like Ozzy did. These people came from shit little towns in England and got together because they believed in themselves. Robert Plant was singing in bars when JImmy met him and John Bonham was a construction worker I believe. Page sings through his guitar and Plant can play guitar although theres no need for him to. Plant is also a very good harmonica player
@TheHuMoCa I love Zep but Page didn't come from a shit town. He came from Surrey, one of the nice, well to do bits of London along with all the types like Clapton and the Stones. Nice middle class art school boys. Plant and Bonham came from the Midlands which is working class territory back in the 50s and 60s.

Funny thing about this song a famous lyrisist sent this to Jimi page to put some rifs down on it
The song was originally performed by The Moving sidewalks. I believe the lyrisist was Clapton.

@spacepatrolman And thats fine dude but just dont bash them. Led Zep is my all time favorite band and its because of Mr. Page that I play guitar.

@spacepatrolman The Pretenders have never been anywhere near as big as Zeppelin in the UK.
theredraven 4 months ago
@theredraven No kidding and they wer less big in the US thats because the pretenders arent sloppy live like led zeppelin the public is morons
spacepatrolman 4 months ago
@spacepatrolman Or maybe people just don't like the Pretenders as much as Led Zeppelin.
