very attractive car, how can someone now in all seriousness claim that a mercedes or a bmw from the same era actually looked better. the 80s certainly did have some rather questionable cars but these T-Birds were truly shiny high points of that era and clearly stood out. as subjective a matter looks in general is, but there no doubt in my opinion here.
@Wotan, when I think of 1970's muscle cars '69/70 Camaros, the Trans Am, Buick GS/ GSX & MOPAR Cuda, Roadrunner,GTX, '70 Monte Carlo '77 Caprice ; I see some stars. They had the embargo/gas crisis, Fed CAFE rules & they made fun cars. The '80's =Gran Nationals , rest of excitement came from Germany: BMW 3 Series, the E-Class benz, Porsche (anything). I LOVE AMERICAN CARS! '57 - '65 Belair, '50's caddies, '65-'72 GTO's, '64 Riviera, '67 FWD Eldo/ Toro, '69-70 Camaros,'50s-70's Vette, etc
This car has a beautiful exhaust sound! I only like the sound of some V6's. I like the 3.8, and the 3.5 V6 that is in my moms 06' Impala. Nice review! Thumbs up and faved!
@wheely132 my grandma had this same car but hers was black, she didn't know what an oil change was and had the car for 20 years and it still ran when she sold it
Great Video Kyle! When this body style came out in 1983, it was a major departure from most american car styling of the time and was considered VERY aerodynamic. In fact, it was in a Thunderbird of this body style that Bill Elliott set the fastest qualifying lap in NASCAR history, over 212mph at Talladega!
Buddy, I love the variety and keep on doing the old ones to but I you have to admit, you were struggling for things to talk about on this one weren't you, it was very bare internally.
A girl I went to high school with had a navy blue one, always wasn't sure why she kept it.... Anyways nice job kyle. But could you do a tour of that silver Integra in the background:D
It's pretty obvious that the success that Ford was having in Nascar at the time with the likes of Bill Elliott and Cale Yarborough behind the wheel of their Thunderbirds didn't carry over to this particular Thunderbird in the performance department.
My mom had the previous generation model of this car and the door sounded exactly the same as this one when it opened and it had almost the same hubcaps. Hers had the v8 with 150hp. Lol
Not a bad car, looks pretty good for its age too. Personally I've always liked Cougars better, they had better styling I thought. But this is a nice looking car.
I really liked the interior on these cars, but I personally liked the Cougars better because the back window was different. I wish they would have continued putting the 5.0's in these but they quit around 84 I believe. the 3.8's just sucked. But I still like this car, I don't get why people hate It.
Sometimes power isn't always the answer for a car. Sure it may lack! But what's more important is that if it's running and it gets you from point A to point B that is all that matters.
Sorry was a tad harsh but im sick of ignorant comments as a lot has changed since from the 80's. At least Kyle is showing something different in his videos. If you don't like it dont buy the car simple...
While there were some exceptions, the 1980's is best summed up as the "Dark Ages" of American automotive history. @huff21960 The only American car I like from the 80s was the Buick Grand National because of it's performance and style. To this day I still love them.

What you see developing in the '80's, is an industry which is finally overcoming internal inertia, in order to embark on a gigantic transition. The motley and many times unloved model lineup of the '80s, reflects on that condition.
@huff21960 I know what you mean. My grandparents had a 1981 Citation, TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK! Always having problems with the breaks! It lasted 11 years with 135,000 miles on it when it was finally gotten rid of the electrical system died on it. Some of the wires dried and cracked.
Ford radios have always sucked. I have a 2007 Taurus and the radio suck in it too. The radios are better than they use to be, but they still suck. I remember when it was hard to read the face in Ford radios. The face was either very dim or missing some lines to spell the readout. Ford should work on this, but I am assume the radios in Mustangs are much better.
Amazing to think some of the features were cutting edge. A digital speedometer, now the whole instrument cluster is a video display. My how things have advanced.
@BasketballBiggy25 And it's even sadder when you get to think: "3.8-liter engine, and only 120 HP??" It just sounds crazy, per today's standards... =)
nice thunderbird. And it was very nice of them to let you film it considering that it's privately owned. Also, as a long-time subscriber, I remember Quinn's Covenant Cars along with another one called "Big Dog Motors" also in Monroe, NC on your channel. It sure has been a while since you've filmed there. I remember in 2010 as I was watching your vids, I was so accustomed to hearing you say "I'm at Quinn's Covenant Cars/Brandon Reeves Auto World/Big Dog Motors in Monroe, North Carolina"
Wow, so that's how they should look? I don't even remember them looking that good brand new! When you opened the trunk, you should have sad, "The trunk has a modest amount of space. Room enough for all this stuff!"
My Dad had a 94 Thunderbird. Piece of crap that thing. Over the course of 8 years it developed transmission problems, computer problems, despite great care the paint faded and interior fell apart, A/C leaked freon and various suspension problems. It did hold up well however when a U-Haul truck crashed into it and kept Dad safe.
Lol at 1:43 the car rolled forward a little when he was demonstrating the gearshift. Btw I love that speedometer!
