  • The displacement is correct at 1.3L, but since each rotor fires once per rotation, rather than once every other rotation like a 4-stroke piston engine, it's the equivalent of a 2.6L piston engine. Classifying it with 2.6L piston engines is perfectly fair.

  • @Raptor13x yeah thats what they used for scca racing and such becouse they had to find a way to make it fair but eventually they put them with v8 cars and then they banned them becouse they had no way of knowing what ports they had or what power they where putting down so banned from sports car racing racing but it is a 1.3 liter say what they said displacement never increased only thing that changed where ports never displacement.

  • You could, but there's no point at all. Only reason to use race gas is if you're running tons of boost or a really high compression ratio, both of which I assume a 'stock motor' doesn't have.

  • the number before the letter stands for the litre 13b mean 1.3ltr 20b means 2.0litre 26b is 2.6litre its then distruibted between the rotors so 1.3ltr split between 2 rotors so 700cc or so per rotor and so on for the 20b n 26b its just the over all ltr of the engine

  • So when they say a "20b 3 rotor engine" that's 2.0L per rotor times three rotors for a total of 6.0L... and a "26b 4 rotor engine" is a 10.4L...

    You obviously know nothing about rotors or possibly have never even seen an actual rotor.

  • no, wrong, 20b is total of 2L, a little over 700cc per rotor.

  • I cant find what I wrote in my original post... but It depends on what 20b you (or we...) were talking about, The 20b-REW displaced 1962cc and used rotors that displaced 654cc. But most 20b engines have some amount of custom work done to them so it really depends on the motor. I don't really know that much about this so I don't want to get in an argument... Im just saying what little I know. (And if you could tell me what i wrote in my first post that would be great, I really cant see it lol)

  • 13B is 1.3 on books . But it is usualy insured as 1.8 to 2.0L

  • nope. It's insured as 1.3 because on paper and in real life it is a 1.3. You cannot convert the size of a rotary engine to a piston engine because they are different designs. But since it has 2 chambers, ppl say it's double the size. But it's not.

    Also, when rotary engines had to go on race teams and the GT series, if it was put in the 1.3 class they would rape every car there. They made excuse so that it can compete with the 2.6litre cars. Read it up.

  • That's what you consider but that's not true at all.

    You can't think of it as that because nothing just goes up and down like a piston, all of it is just a rotation.

  • RX-8 motors are more gas efficient but other than that they have nothing else to offer. 13BT or a 20B N/A is what I would recommend. The 20B is gonna suck ballz on gas compared to a 13B.

  • Well I'm getting a bone stock, super clean '84 GSL-SE which will remain stock (except for exhuast) until I can afford to do it right. The 13b-msp appeals to me because of the reliability. 238hp in a car that light would be plenty quick. 9,000rpm isn't to bad either.

  • How much? My car is stil stock as well I might need to replaced the exhaust system to pass emissions though along with the sensors and stuff.

  • $3200. Its an '84 so technically it only has a couple months left before its emissions exempt, so I will get it inspected, then throw on a header and full 2.5'' exhaust with no cats, but some sort of muffler.

  • It's not clutchless, it is clutch assist. It can be shifted very fast but you still have to use the clutch if you want it to last.

  • so how much for this clutch assist i really need a fast shifter so i can drag and stay street legal... dont want to go with the hks dogshift box ...
