I just love Laura Branigan, she had such a beautiful voice, people forget that she died of a sudden heart aliment. I miss her and her music. She had such pipes, what a voice...a lady with such talent and beauty. But this song was my absolute favorite. I say it again, what power in her voice and she wasn't afraid to use it!!!!
loved her songs. most of the world didn't know her personel life . i can be an ass hole at times but people still love the good side of me . the same goes for laura. most women can be bitches at or all the time. ron
@MidnightMcKinley it was intended to be nice, it's honest. Laura was a fucking bitch, and that's the truth. Sorry you can't handle it. In reality if she were alive she wouldn't give a loser like you the time of day, yet you think her shit don't stink.
@MidnightMcKinley you don't know anything about my family and you cry about a deceased person who you didnt even know who even if she were alive would not give you the time of day. You're such a loser !
@MidnightMcKinley Well, your wasting my time. I highly doubt she was even your cousin. If she was, then your pissed that she achieved something while all you can do is write poor evaluations of people.
I'm not a huge Laura fan... but I saw these comments and had to offer some facts.
I live outside of Chicago, IL USA. We are a major music market. The top radio stations here were playing GLoria, Self-Control, The Luck yOne, and Solitaire continually.
Every beach radio had them on. Every waterslide park had them on. Everyone in their cars had them on.
While Gloria was huge, she had a lot of other hits.
Personally, I always liked "Self Control" the best.
@IXIREDNECK13IXI I'm sorry, but you are WRONG about your reply statement. These songs were played on the radio, and the videos got airplay on MTV! These songs were not songs that I "thought" should be hits, but were actually National hits on the BILLBOARD HOT 100 chart in the U.S... Please check your facts.
@Martywt43 Probably why this was a hit may have been the timing in which the song was released;not to mention Laura Branigan had such a powerful voice, and she was very pretty.
@IXIREDNECK13IXI Laura was far from a ONE HIT WONDER. She had several big hits, and many Dance hits! Her hits include the following songs: "Solitaire" (#7, 1983), "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" (#12, 1983), "Self Control"(#4, 1984), "The Lucky One"(#20, 1984), "Spanish Eddie"(#40, 1985) "Shattered Glass"(#48, 1987), "Power of Love"(#26, 1987). Many of her songs were remixed and were dance hits too. Just a bit of info. :)
I recall Laura guesting on a TV show here in England way back when this song was first a hit - and I can see her belting out 'Gloria' even now in my mind's eye. She was one attractive lady, and brought a powerful voice and commitment to her perfomance. Thanks for the upload.
Sergio, the Scrubbing Bubble of the Bars, just took the ledge to do this show. His hair is up in curlers, wearing a robe - Like he heard Gloria right after his bath. Lip-syncing when he did not speak english. I secretly admired him.
@Runrome Lovely sentiment. It is amazing how music has the power to lift us, to inspire us. Laura Branigan would have given us more such gems if she had not died so prematurely. God bless her.
She was great. Gloria was the only song in Australia to drop out of the "10" and make it back to the "top 10" after dropping out of the "Top 40" as we knew them then.
What an awesome, hard to find version of this song. Hats off to you for finding and posting this gem. This song was electric when it debuted in 1982. The movie Flashdance helped spike its popularity in 1983.
Laura Branigan had so many great hits. She sure is missed.

Please step up your game. Thanks.

@Martywt43 but I do agree the words to the song are not worthy of being a hit,but with the music it was a great song for dancing.

@hatman1917 Really?
What made Laura Branigan's 'Gloria' come back to the Australian top 10?
Was it her appearance on Countrdown or just renewed interest for no apparent reason?
You wouldn't happen to have stats of which place this song was at each week of its run on the AU charts, would you?
I'd really appreciate any help!
