  • The best RC flying ive seen

  • that was awesome! mr morris you are very talented

  • I think its about time a Real Life Pilot out there learns to Hover like this, it has to be possible!

  • @killirishred must have been a while since you where at an air show... they do it all the time. i saw it several times last week at oshkosh airventure

  • @shawnson133 A pilot inside the cockpit of an airplane hovered inches off the ground?! wow i'd like to see the footage of that!!

  • @killirishred be realistic it would be stupid to do it inches from the ground. think of the scale of the plane, the entry speed this maneuver requires makes it impossible to do it that low to the ground. i thought you meant the principal of getting a plane to hang from its prop. that can be done, but that close to the ground no you are right it has not been done and probably never will be done.

  • @shawnson133 My comments were all in good fun, A little unrealistic humor if you will. and i agree it would be stupid to try and prop hang inches from the ground. i have tried to find footage of a real plane doing a prop hang but i can only find model planes. Have you really seen a plane prop hang the way models do? i've tried to find footage of such an event, but no luck

  • @killirishred check out this vid

Hanging on the prop! 2009 Jones Beach Air Show

  • its funny that even though English and Americans use the same language and words it ends up so different,,,,yet understandable. funny that and chears,

  • nice smoke

  • Full size airplanes with a pilot in them are getting pretty close to doing this now days!

  • why do they think it is a model? that is my unkle's plane while he was flying at a local airshow

  • That is a helicopter my friend ..

  • Gorgeous my friend...

  • Hey Jim airplanes 22 get busy and post some FPV video ya moose twit!!

  • Whats up whit the speeker-guy??

  • wow,top gun

  • Very Impressive

  • What brand of plane is this, and how many cc engine does ut need to doa safe hover?

  • @ErikJenssen It's a plane sold by Al's Hobbies in the UK. driven by a 200 cc petrol engine, I believe. Any biplane with a correct C or G will be able to hover given enough power to weight.

  • @MajorSterling Yes, i know :-) I do quite a lot of 3D flying with models up to 60-size, and now im looking for a giant scale plane that performs well. I want to buy a Pitts Challenger, and need good advice for the best choice. I have a 150 cc to cylindre DL engine ready in my hangar. Would this engine be enough to hover this plane?

  • @MajorSterling That I couldn't tell you. My advice would be to ring Al's Hobbies in Milton Keynes, UK and speak to Al himself and ask him specifically what engine James Norris uses. He'll also know whether the engine you have is up top the job. - The Major

  • @MajorSterling

    650cc

  • @Topgunn035 it's caled weight/thrust ratio... if you have more power than weight you can do that... some real life jet fighers do that...

  • Awsome looking plane with the skill to go with it..... Keep up the entertainment.

  • As an AMA and PAMPA controline precision aerobatics NATS competitor, I must say you are the BEST I've seen on the R/C box!!! Enjoyed the video!!!

  • It's called air hover... pretty easy to do with a model airplane but it takes some horsepowers to do it with one that large!

  • simple pull hard up while not leting the plaine stall and when it gose nose up balance with the elevators, rudder and throtel.... :) s far as i know it's refered to as hanging ps never flown but i reeserch

  • torque roll with a smaoke canister

  • pollution? stop farting, this is more harming...

  • simply a hover. of course only in an rc

  • @MerkabaStar that trick was called a torque roll

  • I fly. Its all the same to me. Hover, torque roll, its kinda getting old actually, 3d. I'm back to flying straight!

  • actually what is used in these planes for the smoke effects is non toxic

  • its not pollution, to be honest, the smoke is just an evporated hot oil, the oil in natural and enviormentaly friendly.

  • Go hug a tree and get a woody, nimrod.

  • i must say i am impressed. i've seen many an R/C pilot put a plane into a shock stall and tare it apart, yet this pilot kept her together through every stunt he did. amazing. and the hover sequences were extraordinary. i'm at a total loss for words. WOW

  • amazing pilot!!

  • is this RC or a manned aircraft?? quite amazing anyway

  • Are you a dumb ass or retarded?

  • thank you for a standard internet-answer! Some things never change...

  • Sorry. I had been drinking.

  • You were not completely off with your comment though. I didn't read the info, and had heard that the Pitt could do amazing stuff + I also have to play the alcohol card;)

  • Description clearly says R/C..

  • Radio controlled

  • I love PITTS...but my favourite is the Jim LeRoy's PITTS BULLDOG...

    R.I.P. Jim...

  • Hi everyone. This Is my plane. Didn't know this video was on here to be honest. We all have our own ways in how and what we do when flying, I know my limits and tend to stick to what I know. Im not there to Impress I couldn't If I tried lol Im their for the enjoyment and hope people enjoy It to. I admire everyones flying no matter what they do.

    James Morris

  • James, this is the Major. I shot this footage of you flying at Paddock Wood and you are THE MAN. Ignore the mosquitoes.

  • do you have any tips on balancing of a biplane? i've recently been flying an eflite ultimate 20-300. i've just noticed that alpha manuevers and hovering are nothing like that of a single low wing 3d plane like a yak .this is my first bipe and i'm still experimenting. the power setup is locked in, but balancing of the weight has been my issue. making it more tail heavy will help of course, but what about weight high or low in the fueselage? any tips about bipes would be greatly appreciated.

  • @BRANDORC To be honest mate I set mine up level I don't have It nose or tail heavy due to the fact It makes It better for normal flying and to sort of alter it for say prop hanging wasn't really worth it. They are more tricky than a monoplane in the hover but once you master it like everything really they are more impressive In my view

  • @mossa19844891 ... awsome flight .. love your plane

  • @mossa19844891 how come u claim this is your plane when u dont even have any video to prove it... i can also claim this is my plain but i wont because this is not my video and not my plane at all...

  • @edwin4759 I do have another video on here actually which I put on from the same weekend as this video with a camera on bored but if you really want to check this is mine I will be at cosford next weekend so come along and see me

  • @mossa19844891 didn't mean anything about my post, i apologize but hey i would love to watch your video...

  • @mossa19844891 Very well said The vid is very cool!!

  • @mossa19844891 If this is your video The vid is very cool!!

  • Glass and B4its. Its guys like both of you that wreck it for the rest of us. Everyone should be able to share the field no matter what or how you fly. Its about the fun that we are having flying model planes. Not about how we fly them. Or how old we are when we fly them. I know plenty of guys that most of you would consider old farts than could fly circles around you or hover in the middle of your circle.

  • what about the landing :(

  • If even 5% of the 3D RC flyers today could fly as good as this guy I would gain some tolerance for all the frickin prop hanging BS that F's up good RC clubs. There are way to many ass's with 200+cc ARTF's that can hardly fly final let alone land, but they can spend 10 min doing the f,in weed wacker. This guy learned to fly first I am sure of it from the intent in his lines and pitch and roll rates. Hats off to this chap and may all you other ass's buy helicopters and stay home in your backyard.

  • Grumpy old cock.

  • Best part is, people with your attitude won't be around the clubs much longer. ie OLD blind farts. You pinhead fliers are jealous that us young cats can do this shit and it wow the crowds much more than your washed up cubs. What a way to welcome newcomers to the hobby. Dick. Wrecking clubs...man its asstards like you that ruin good clubs and give them bad reputations. Out with the old and in with the new! Learn to adapt or be left behind.

  • that is cool i want one

  • awesome

  • wrong to keep from ripping the prop. over rev-ing the motor

  • because you want to go down as slowly as possible.

  • why does he idle the engine when the airplane dives?

  • I remember an rc plane guy saying the prop almost acted like a dive brake at idle. Duno if thats true, but thats what he said!

  • it was environmentally friendly smoke, didn't you hear the announcer?

  • OMFG A LAMIA!

  • alpaca out of fucking nowhere.

  • it would be nice if the fn smoke was off

  • Flying like gravity dont exist very nice work

  • What is this "Gravity" you speak of? :)

  • Thanks for your reply, great stuff

  • OK! nice video and plane by way, when you go this large and the price tag for suck a big plane, do you install gyro's keep it from crashing? Im sure there are expert pilots out there that dont need them but id almost put my money this plane has them for sure watching the control surfaces

  • I'd bet what's left in my 401K that there is NO gyro in that plane. Not alot of room for error! :)

  • That makes no sense? not alot of room for what? if i was going fly a big old plane like that id feel better off with some type of stablization, id hate ditch because last second error on my part

  • I am in the hobby and was just trying to answer your question. When you fly at this level, you do not put a gyro on your plane. I own a 33% Pitts, 50cc.

  • Sure why not? Whats wrong with gyro,s some people dont understand the "Aid" , some think there better then computer controlled? Personly with that much money flying, if gyro craps out? (I doubt) it would be same as any other electronic failure (if thats what you are hinting to) I guess no one knows

  • hello, No there are no gyro's in it, I have never liked them to be honest. To me really using them your not flying the plane yourself. May sound a bit strange but you do tend to know after flying it for a bit what's going to happen before it happens if you know what I mean.

    Kind Regards

    James Morris

  • I totally agree. I always say, when flying rc, you are never reacting, only acting, cuz if you're reacting, you've already crashed. You always have to stay one step ahead of your aircraft. Plus a gyro is just another "electronic" weak link in the chain.

  • No gyro. These guys don't need them anyway. they probly have been flying all their life. gyros don't work well on airplanes anyway. it would make the plane do things that you couldn't control.

  • Gryos don't keep planes from crashing! Besides if this plane had gyro's it would be more"locked" in hover, the way he's controlling it in hover is apparent there's no gryos. Gryo equipped plane will hover "hands free" and no self-respecting pilot with the ability to fly such a plane would do that! (Thats' like buying a top of the line "Crotch Rocket" and putting training wheels on it! lol)

  • true that

  • Great, thanks for your reply

  • Great flying skills, could you tell me where i could obtain one of these kits this size please, regards Alistair

  • Be worth contacting Al's Hobbies in the UK and asking them for details of the kit flown by James Morris. - The Major

  • Comment removed

  • beautiful !!! wow my tt giles is nothing compared to that lol

  • amazing! well done!

  • WOW thats tight!

  • Might aswell just build an oldschool S1C with a 100hp continental and a wooden prop. Probably wouldn't cost much more and if you build it light you can qualify for the sport pilot category and you don't even need a medical. :)

  • dave bishop never shuts up about the bring and buy sales :)

  • check out t-rex 450

  • I don't think I've ever seen an airplane just hover like that. :-X

  • They do it all the time mate ;-)

In RC anyways =D where a "3D"-aircraft typically has more thrust than weight, thus beeing able to hover in mid air =)

It takes a whole lot of skill to do it like this guy tho! =D

  • cool cool cool

  • That was awesome shit man!!!...AWESOME!!!''

  • tits

  • good flying

  • Hello,

Can you tell me who made this RC plane, and where can I get one?

Has anybody compared this to the 100CC Pitts Python made by Quique aircraft company?

    Thks

  • Has anybody ever done a tail stand hover close to the ground in a real airplane??

  • This airplane is real... it's just not full scale. For a full-scale plane capable of hovering, look up the "Turbine Toucan" - it will be able to hover, but they are still developing it. The prototype flies, but they have a lot of testing to do still.

  • its not real its rc plane it has been in many rc plane magazines

  • It flys, it's real.

  • im not saying its not real im saying its not a full size aircraft

  • Yes. There were projects in the 50s to develop vertical takeoff fighters. They were tailsitter designs, and had to takeoff and land in the vertical. Looked quite uncomfortable for the pilots. Look up x-13 vertijet, convair pogo, or tailsitter. The x-13 (or one of?) is in the usaf museum at dayton, oh.

  • I have a Pogo sitting in the bedroom, but I never finished building it. It's just too weird :)

  • Yep...Jurgis Kairis does it with his SU-31...check out some of his vids, you'll find one where he torques/hovers the plane very fast, cause he usually does it at every show he flies at.

  • what kind of fuel do the larger R.C.'s use?

  • Any plane requiring over 30cc will usually be powered by a two-stroke gasoline engine (like a chain saw, moped). The fuel used is regular unleaded 95 mixed with 5% two stroke oil.

  • nice flying, the accents are thick,it is english though

  • In my own defence, I must not have been watching the first few seconds of the clip and the audio was so bad most of the time I couldn't tell what language was being spoken (smiley face)

  • I think this may be from La Ferte France.

They hold a annual air show for "giant scale" model aircraft, the biggest in the world. I saw a 450 lb. B-29 fly there.

  • thats the hop farm show in kent, that plane was not there this year, but much nicer weather than last!

  • There's obviously a very skilled hamster in there

  • Naw, a 4 year old can fit in there =P

  • Is that Alan Partridge on the P.A.?

  • that was @ weston park 2006 i was there that james can fly his the best pilot ive seen to fly a pitts like that need true skill and to be backed by als hobbies well done m8 n1

  • No im soory it was Beltring, Kent my bad but he did fly it @ weston

  • Beautiful plane and fantastic work on the RC. I'm impressed.

  • lama lama lama lama lama lama duck XD

  • got me new tutor major, yip try again. ha

  • The airframe is only 60 quid to replace. Get another one and keep going!

  • i crashed me plane major... its gone.

  • some flying that lad! hell of a nice plane too. its a "1 day for me" thing. im on a tutor plane ha. but picking it up. thanks enjoyed it totaly

  • Don't worry. I now have twelve planes including jets and I still have time to enjoy my tutor 40!

  • hovering like that takes skillz!

  • Great airshow flying with an awesome plane. Very Nice.

  • Very nice flying. Thanks for sharing.

  • Never that before some power output.

  • good way to spray for mosqitoes

  • Pretty amazing stuff
