I'm from Wisconsin.. and depending on where you live in Wisconsin.. there "accents" vary. My brother in law talks like that. Good humble guy. Doesn't even notice it. I don't.. i talk.. just regular i think. LOL Well everyone has their different ways of pronouncing things.
We are not Canadian. Hahaha. Oh dear. It's honestly hilarious how people thing we talk like that. Which, I guess we do, but to us we sound pretty normal. Exception: hicks.
HAHA TOTALLY LOVED THIS!!!!! A friend of mine from Colorado always got a kick outta it when i said Don't cha know. he would laugh constantly! haha. Great video!
And you probably think that folks from Kansas City are "Southern Hicks" when in fact they have the most neutral midwestern accents in the country? Yes?
I live in Milwaukee and lived in Sheboygan for a few years, the difference between the two is kind of staggering. Must be mixed cultural influences or something. For instance in Sheboygan they say the "Yah" for yes and "oh" very hard. Whereas there are times I notice when I say "ya know" and it sounds like I'm in upper Wisconsin. I've even said aboot. Just silly little things we pick up, but we do articulate our words better than most.
All these comments about I live in Milwaukee and nobody sounds like that is crap. Most of the state does not live there so how can you say people from WI. do not sound like this video or any other. All of my family is from WI and they do have the strong accent. In every state there are a few different accents throughout.
okay wisconsin people dont talk like hicks. im from wisconsin and we do NOT talk like that. im actually offended. lol now if you go northern wisconsin maybe but down here where i live which is in milwaukee everyone just sounds the same like normal i didnt realize we hasd an accent but we dont have that type of accent you said.
Where in Northern Wisconsin are you people going exactly? I live along Lake Superior and I most certainly do not sound like that. I'm not going to deny that I sound a bit Canadian, but nothing like that. (Probably because most Canadians don't even sound like that.)
im from wisconsin and we DONT talk like that. i hate how people always focus on the weird things about wisconsin (northern people do sumtimes talk like tht). seirusly peple are ALWAYS steryotyping wisconsin as "the farm state" and stuff like that. its really stupid.
I'm from Wisconsin, and I hate how people take things too seriously. No, your accent probably is not as pronounced as I make Wisconsin accents out to be, but if you were born and raised in Wisconsin, chances are you do have a similar accent, even if you're from southern Wisconsin like I am. Embrace it and have a little fun.

@deraforia ..........I was born in raised in south eastern Wisconsin and NO ONE sounds like that. Are you sure you arent going for an irish accent? lmfao
@deraforia noo, thats not true. that northern part is the only part of wisc i know of like that lol. Theres nothing wrong with it, its just that people think we ALL talk like that when down by milwaukee, washington county....down here idk anybody with an accent. Occasionally you'll run into somebody with an accent but they're not usually from that area
@imorandomthanu Im a Packers fan and im going to one of the Green bay games and i need help acting like the Crowd. Its a long story why im a Packers fain i just need a guide to how to Speak wisconsin
@imorandomthanu I know...I just had some idiot in Nebraska (I moved here last year, was born in MI and had East and West coast parents and an Estonian grandma teach me how to speak) tell me that I "sounded lahk I was frum Wescansen"..I spent a lot of my life there but I have never spoken like that and moreover, that's not even the right state-that's supposed to be the Minnesoota stereotype...nobody speaks that way in WI. He said I said "aboat" when I CLEARLY said aBOUt. Fucking Nebraska hicks.
@sonbuhitsunei could people seriously stop insulting each others' states? the guy was probably just trying to be friendly. I've been to Nebraska and I think they're some of the friendliest people out there.
I am from a dairy farm in Wisconsin, and it is called America's Dairyland for a reason. because at one point in time it most of the U.S got their milk and cheese from Wisconsin. (before the eu clair bill, that ended up destroying the farming industry in not only Wisconsin but Minnesota) and i have lived away from Wisconsin for over 10 years. Also, Whenever I go back I hear the accent as clear as day. besides, this is a northern accent, due to the Swedish /Norwegian heritage. so relax.
okay, if you live in minnesota you don't count. go up nort and into deep wisconsin territory, and yes, people DO talk like this. i was raised there, left, and now every time i talk to them it's clear as day, just like that, though if you lived there you wouldn't notice.
It's the way finnish & Norweigians in northern MINNESOTA talked about 50-75 years ago, but now you only hear it (as a joke) on Red Green or Prairie Home Companion.....

@HAGS4WI same here about Minnesota, people try to say we have that same accent. ive not heard many people talk like that in my life unless they were trying to. but i WILL say that up north there are some funny talkin people but not THAT funny. here in Minneapolis i dont think ive heard anyone talk like that
@ryanneuman1 I live "Up north" Haha, I will admit, we have a tendency to say "Yah". That's really the only thing though, and some times, ((In fact I just did it a minute ago!)) We'll say-" Yah know. I can see a 'thickness' to our accents. But I promise you it's nothing like this video x)
