Hmm, I couldn't help noticing how Buttercup lowered her tone of voice when she said "I'd fancy a smile before I go". Is it just me, or does her tone sound seductive at that point?
Anyway, great scene and music, and Buttercup seems especially hot in this one.
7,478 views? Has the clock gone round past a million and started again? This production was so brilliant. Giving G & S to a new generation. Listen to Sullivan's music and to Gilbert's words. As true today as they will be for ever.
That has to be one of the most beautiful versions of "Fair Moon, To Thee I Sing" that I've ever heard! BTW, what song does Little Buttercup sing during "FMTTIS?"
@lskarin It's like I always say, "Gilbert and Sullivan repeat themselves in the way the music sounds. Sometimes you can even find the exact same lyrics."
If Gilbert and Sullivan were alive today it would've been called "HMS Enterprise" for sure, just for that extra pun... musical and comedic geniuses the pair of them!
This production was expressly designed to provide a laugh every three or four seconds for those of us who have already committed the entire D-C version to memory.
Stop paying attention for a moment and you miss an entire visual joke. Wow!
The leg-in-arm trick was reminiscent of one of Harpo's famous stunts, but he did it single-handed.

Dibs on the Captain!
Pythonfreak88 1 year ago
why does the captain look like a crewman?
zetabyte99 1 year ago
@zetabyte99 Because he is going to have a bath and most smart captains wore just the basics in the bathroom, kind of like most of us nowadays.

I like the deep voice, but he don't look like a captain. Unless its an audition for the village people.

Is he singing this lower than usual?
McJesus007 1 year ago
@McJesus007 yup, sounds like he's doing it almost a fourth lower than written. I suppose it is hard to find a baritone with a proper high A...

@ The first bit is an arranged version of 'oh foolish fay' from Iolanthe, not sure what the second bit is! Works in a weird way.

@MadFranandfriends How nice of you to post such an observance. And the eclectic and flexible Gilbert, I'm sure, would have approved.
"It works" is a theatrical commonality and often surprises the creative folk.

@lskarin Oh I love it! I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this the first time.. WIsh I knew what the second bit was though.

Wonderful... they might've wanted to leave the end of "Things are Seldom what they Seem" serious, but still wonderful

I think I like Amanda Muggleton, she has better comedic timing and her and David seem to have more chemistry.
However, I like this woman's singing voice.
