Planetside is the game that moved me from dial up to ISDN.

I have played most major FPS for PCs, both on and off line. The intensity of PS battles at its peak, with so many players on line at the same time, has never been surpassed ( despite the lag and the basic graphics).

If PS2 can re-create that same feeling then I can't wait.

calling darkfall an FPS is a stretch in my mind, I know you can aim your bow and the ship cannons, but its is a MMORPG, with a few FPS elements tossed in. Farming gear and crafting is not part of a FPS normally, this game is a hybrid.

Jetpacks are gimmicky "future tech" bullshit that never balance correctly. Also it destroys the infantry expectations established in PlanetSide1. Planetside1's battle were epic because you could not circumvent defense without teamwork. Now, you'll see kiddies, bouncing around Mr. Rage.

Vehicles and fortifications would destroy slow moving infantry, so jetpacks provide an interesting middleground, not just sell "fun" at the expense of balance. You can now raise the price of vehicles...

Jetpackers can provide assistance at short notice without spending too much in resources in sending armour to nudge the odds in your favour during a shootout by adding more manpower, not machinepower. And we all know men are far more expendable. However, any jetpacker lone wolfing it will be picked off like flies. Rapid fire ballistics will make short work of light armour, so elevated defences expecting them will win.

I haven't played Planetscape 1 to be honest, I missed out on the good stuff when it was happening. But I'd still like to see how this pans out, as it seems to favour those with skill and a good command of your allies over strongarming in pure cash, providing power to those who spend only when they need to, and not who takes the most PvE jobs. This is something you can LEARN, not EARN, and that's what I respect.

@KernelGaddafi While I agree seeing visual similarities between the Halo series and Planetside, I don't see how you can claim that "almost everything" has been ripped off by the Planetside crew. Gamplay-wise they are very different.

And your "Terran is stolen from starcraft" doesn't hold up in any way. The word "Terran" has been used in many games (Wing Commander) and even movies (Starship Troopers) before Starcraft got released, possibly so because Terran hails from Terra which means Earth.

Press was pretty welcoming for a game trying to open a new genre. They were amazed by the scale of even the everyday bottles took place in the game. Graphics was OK for a 2003. title. Music was fine. Most of the mechanics were well-developed.

It had a major flaw though. It was easy to learn, but hard to master, and those trying to play it without BRAINZ, left the game soon... like you? Oh, wait, you haven't played it for a single minute.

Looks pretty delicious. MAKE SURE that each faction is distinctly discernible from a distance. The TR are RED, make sure there is lots of red! The Vanu are PURPLE, make sure they are covered in purple!

Other than that, don't forget to include epic violin music and we're set.
