  • For heaven's sake its a postbox, it doesn't matter what colour it is as long as the royal mail gets whats in it to its destination on time.

  • An-mhaith buachaillí, is fearr liom an bosca poist glas! ^^

  • Simple thing is, make the people who paint them or Sinn Fein pay for them to be painted red again plus a few hundred £ fine to put them from doing it again.

  • Council always paint them Red again so its a waste of their paint hahahahaha

  • Is this in Northern Ireland?

Also I wonder if there are some Post boxes in the Republic of Ireland around before 1921 or 1916.

  • @JohnKelly32102

Yes this is in the northern Six Counties, all postboxes there are painted red while those in the south are painted green.

There are postboxes in the south from before 1916 - many were destroyed or had the British Crown removed. Others, still have the crown on them but have been painted over with green paint.

  • @OgraShinnFein Thank you

  • @OgraShinnFein

still has the ER of the Queen on it, even though the colour has changed u cant change the Government or Queen HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I want to see more and more Green - there is tooo much blue - every fu**in logo in the north of Ireland is blue or red. If "they want blue I'll buy a big barrel of it and paint their faces and arses blue.

  • Wow, there's a lot of hate going on here.

  • @ikilledshergar Im a republican but I would prefer 90 percent of brits than a gobshite that leaves a comment like that

  • great stuff, im going to have to get down to homebase and get a tin of paint!

  • surely a good 'socialist' in sinn fein wouldnt go to a British capitalist store like homebase?

  • All nationalist/republican areas in Tyrone will be 'greened' ahead of the National Hungerstrike March ;)

  • Im standing up in front of my pc well done!

  • Good work. Keep painting them boxes!

  • Nice piece of culture jamming!

I can't put up the link but do a google search for

    Cultural Studies 3 Lecture 8

  • Its a bit petty and a little bit sad that this is all you can do is deface royal mail property! But the thing is it doesnt matter what colour it is because there is still a crown on it and thats all that matters! You so called group reminds me of the hitler youth!

  • Is that why Loyalism is closely associated with Neo Nazi-ism? Before you bark back like the dog you are, I suggest you google it.

  • BARK BARK theres no point in arguing! You have your opinion and i have mine and at least i respect yours thats all tat matters

  • in case you fenian bastards forgot, northern ireland is part of the UK. This means post boxes are meant to be red. if i catch anyone doing this i will personally kick the shit out of them and paint them green. this is really sad ,says a lot for fenians. pathetic

  • wow. an truely incisive comment. You're obviously a shrewd political operator. I'd put you at the forefront of unionism as the bastion and figurehead of their cause. With a mind like yours, the masses will surely follow.

    Think before you speak, son.

  • good job. keep ireland tidy

  • And one final point, ethnic identity is not the same skin colour or race. Hence, many different ethnic groups can have the same colour skin. Hence you can find hundreds of different ethnicities in Africa, many with prejudices against eachother, who superficially appear to be from the same 'black African' race.

  • I meant to say, ethnic identity is not the same as skin colour or race, and not necessarily about having different colour skin. Prejudice against someone because of their ethnic origin amounts to racism.

  • Hmmm, try thinking first before you comment.

  • Try taking some of your own advice.

  • Yes, thanks for the lecture. It's good to have a white man lecture a person of mixed race on racial and ethnic diversity in Africa. You have no limits to your arrogance, do you.

  • Clearly you have problems reading, as I'm not male and you have no idea what race I am. You don't have to be a particular race or nationality to know about them.

  • You have assumed a knowledge and authority on the ethnic and racial diversity of those of African origin. Your previous comments are not consistent with you having such ethnic origin yourself therefore your comments are presumptious, petty, arrogant and patronising. You have presumed to lecture me on my use of the word "negro" as a person who is half negro. If you cannot see the audacity and arrogance you are displaying by doing that then you are a lost cause.

  • trafficmeter, You are clearly prejudiced against Irish people simply because they are Irish. That makes you a bigot and a racist. Btw, most Scots and Welsh people also consider themselves to be Scottish or Welsh before being British, and at least separate to the English, so any prejudice shown towards them would also be seen as an ethnic or national prejudice, which amounts to a type of racism.

  • I am pointing out sterotypical Irish behavior like many Irish and others do and have done. Grow up. And get a proper job than a self-serving, "I know best" one where you don't actually produce anything of value and instead just spend your time complaining that people should confirm to your polarised standards.

  • Your comments are clearly derogatory generalisations, full of cheap insults towards people based on their nationality. There is no constructive criticism. Your comments are full of contempt and bigotry. There is nothing amusing or mocking about them.

  • Now we're getting somewhere. Although you're not man enough to admit it you've changed your initial riduclous assertion of racism to ethnicity to nationality. They are merely irreverent comments about the Irish who are stereotypically characterised by behavior such as portrayed in this video. When the Irish mock the British in their many ways they are also not being racist - they are merely anti-British, nationalistic statements. Well done, over the past day you've actually grown up.

  • trafficmeter, you're clearly not very up to date on race relations, because no one uses the term "negro" to describe ethnicity anymore.

  • As a person of mixed race myself I don't take kindly to an ignoramus like you telling me how part of my ethnic origin is described. I am proud of being half negro so get down from your high horse and stop pontificating about what terms you pompously require others to use.

  • If you want to call yourself "half negro", that's your choice, but no black person I know would refer to themselves as "negroes", or "negros" as you mis-spelled it. In the US in particular it's seen as very outdated.

  • This is my point. We will call ourselves what we choose - we don't need arrogant people like you pontificating on word usage. And as far as my typo of "negros" is concerned, thank you for your further pedantry patronising. I am a US citizen currently living and working in Europe so how you dare to tell me how we Americans use the term negro is stupefying.

  • If you want to call yourself a "negro", that's your choice. But I've never known a black person in this century or the last 20 years to do so.

  • Then you must stop expressing arrogance that you know best and accept that your lack of knowledge of use of the term may be due to your own sheltered existence and ignorance. The United Negro College Fund founded and named by negroes to benefit negroes, the National Council of Negro Women and many other such organisations proudly use the term without a care for your patronising and ignorant objections.

  • Martin Luther King's I have a Dream speech, and others, where he used the term liberally? I don't have the space or time to show how ignorant you are on this subject but I would suggest you take a few months to get an education. You will never learn if you go through life lecturing people on matters you are woefully inadequate to pass comment on, confuse racism with irreverent observation and have the audactity to lecture people of a certain racial origin what they should call themselves.

  • You really are hilarious. I'm not sure I have the time in my life to point out all your hypocrisies or the fact that all the insults you hurl at me and anyone else could be easily directed towards yourself. On the term "negro", as I said before, as you don't seem to like to listen to anyone but yourself, if that's what you want to call yourself, that's fine. I am a fan of Malcolm X and I know he also used the term "negro" "liberally". However, that was in the 1960s.

  • Even the dictionary now says it's a redundant term, and again, I don't know any black people who would call themselves "negro", ever. it's an incredibly outdated term. But if you like it for yourself, go ahead. Plenty of black people seem to like calling themselves nigger still, a term which I can't stand, but again, that's their choice. Actually your racist attitude towards irish people and your use of the terms "oriental" and "negro" made me think you were a very old racist white person. Irony

  • Exactly. We will call ourselves what we choose so stop patronising us and complaining that the terms are "old" or that you can't stand them. Who do you think you are? Organisations in the US use the term "negro" and you're claiming it's a redundant word. The collective term "oriental" is commonplace for Singaporean, Chinese, Japanese, etc. and you're even objecting to that! You even complain at my typo of negroes! Are you the failed school mistress from hell? Such arrogant intolerance!

  • The sheer pettiness of this is hilarious. To prove that you're Irish do you have to demonstrate by either intellect and/or behavior that you do actually have the brain the size of a green pea? If you had a map of world numptiness they'd be a skyscraper towering over every other country slap bang over Ireland. No-one proves what a set of pea-brained thickos the Irish are more than the Irish. Absolutely hilarious. LOL!

  • What a racist idiot you are. If you have a point to make, make it. But you clearly don't or you wouldn't resort to racism.

  • Racist? Are you so stupid you think the irish are a race? Like negros, Hispanics, Orientals, Asians? What a pea brain! LOL!

  • "negros" [sic] and "orientals"? What century are you from? Clearly you haven't noticed that "white Irish" is classified as an ethnic group in the same way as any other ethnic group, including "white British". When you single out a specific ethnic group or nationality and make prejudiced derogatory comments about that entire group of people, then you are racist. If the only way you can argue your views is to use insults and racism, then you have a problem.

  • Irish is a nationality you buffoon. Not a race. Phil Lynott's race was negro. His nationality was Irish. You are probably of Caucasian race and Irish nationality. Get an education, you thick Mick.

  • "white Irish" is an ethnic group, like any other ethnic group. Obviously you haven't noticed the official British classifications of ethnic groups. Regardless of whether you believe yourself to be racist or not, your comments and beliefs are bigoted and deeply prejudiced against an entire ethnic group of people for no other reason than they belong to that ethnic group or nationality. Therefore you are a racist. Btw, I'm not Irish, but your comments just reaffirm your bigotry.

  • "White Irish" is a sop to people in the British Isles who regard themselves as Irish rather than British. There is no "Scots White" or "Welsh White" or "English White". When people are so trivial that they paint post boxes green it's understandable why the term "White Irish" has arisen to appease such people. They are of no different ethnic origin than others in the British Isles, as DNA analysis has proven. They are simply a different politico-social-economic nation of the same ethnic origin.

  • Whether you recognise the classification "white Irish" or not, does not deter from the fact that you have made bigoted and prejudiced generalisations about an entire nation of people based solely on your personal judgment of the actions of a few people. That makes you a bigot and a racist no matter what your ethnic background is yourself.

  • The term "White Irish" identifies the ethnic grouping of white Irish people. The race is identified by "white" and the nationality is identified by "Irish". As they are white they are of exactly the same race as "White British" and "White Other". You opened this exchange with the allegation of racism, and continue to do so, but any comment about the Irish can not, by definition, be racist. It is alarming that a supporter/member of Amnesty is equal parts arrogant and ignorant.

  • You can't step away from the fact that your comments are bigoted and offensive towards an entire nation of people based solely on their national and ethnic identity. Perhaps as an American you're not familiar with race relations and ethnic subtleties in Europe, but your comments would be considered racist in Britain as well as Ireland and alot of other countries.

  • I am very familiar with British standards having attended University there and am aware of European dimension as I currently live and work there. I am also aware of the bigoted attitude of the Irish towards the Brits on long-gone, centuries-old issues that are in the past. I am aware of American irreverence towards Canadians, French towards Belgians, German towards Poles, Aussies towards Kiwis, etc. None of these are "racist" despite you getting into a silly emotional lather about it. (contd.)

  • "long-gone, centuries-old issues that are in the past"????

Words escape me I'm blinded by rage. You ignorant sonofabitch

  • Good. If words escape you then just shut up. You make more sense that way.

  • They are irreverent remarks pointing out national traits that are typical of that nation. The behaviour portrayed in this video is simply stupid, asinine, pointless and divisive. Pointing out that typical illogicality and bone-headed stupidity is not racist atall. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and you point out the behavior is consistent with a duck then it's stating fact. For you to classify irreverent criticism as "racist" is absolutely absurd. (contd.)

  • When the Duke of Edinburgh refered to the Chinese as "slitty eyed" he was being racist as he was making a derogatory remark based on racial characteristics. When US white supremacists promote anti-black policies they are being racist. When Hitler promoted the Aryan race and persecuted the Jews he was being racist. If someone disparaged me because of the colour of my skin they would be racist. (contd.)

  • If they commented that I was a stereotypical fat American that had a hamburger diet if I were fat they wouldn't be racist they would be simply making an irreverent remark based on the commonplace sterotype of Americans being obese. All nationalities have national traits: the French as cheese-eating surrender monkeys or garlic eaters, the Germans as humourless. Your objections are fatuous. (contd.)

  • You really need to stop being so pompous and precious and stop confusing racism with simply having a laugh at someone else's modest expense as they conform to a well-established stereotype that has not been invented but is based on actual behaviour of nationals of that type.

  • I might come back and respond to your pathetic defence of your intial racist comments, if i can be bothered. But it's interesting the length you'll go to to defend such obnoxious derogatory racism and national stereotyping.

    Peace.

  • Please don't bother. You're like a broken record with your patronising, complete misunderstanding of race, self-appointed spokesperson behavior on people of different race, absurd marking of word usage, etc. Get a life.

  • "White Irish"? In fairness at this time, there is hardly need for definition of the Irish as "White", now is there? We have a minority of other colours yeah, but we are hardly at the stage where one needs to assert just which section of Irish people they are talking about, colour-wise

  • I am not racist. I am pointing out an Irish characteristic demonstrated again in this video that shows its own bigotry, nationalism, intolerance, pettiness and prejudice. You are such a fool to see behaviour like this and lack objectivity in commenting on its bigotry and how it asserts the sterotype of the bigoted Irishman.

  • It's ironic that you use the word 'stereotype', because you have made explicitly negative and ignorant stereotypes about an entire nation of people based on the superficial fact that their nationality and ethnicity is "Irish". I'm sure you hate it when people make ignorant, negative and false generalisations about black people, so it shows extreme ignorance and hypocrisy when you do it to equally diverse groups of people.

  • The global sterotype of the Irish is of illogical statements and/or behavior. I saw a comedian in NY who made jokes in that vein. The Irish comedian Dave Allen made jokes about the Irish. He wasn't being "racist" or all the silly whinings you wheel out here. Dave Allen said himself how he was baffled by the Irish when he went back to visit family. The KKK are racist. Hitler was racist. These comments aren't racist - they're pointing out characteristic Irish behavior. Get off your podium.

  • "The global sterotype of the Irish is of illogical statements and/or behavior."

... No, that's your prejudiced perception based on racist stereotypes.

  • Your ignorance knows no depth. The OED states: "Irish bull: ludicrously illogical statement". Irish jokes are commonplace that portray Irish people as short on the uptake. Much of Irish comedians' material like Dave Allen contains jokes at the expense of Irish illogic. It is not my "prejudiced perception or racism" it is a well-documented, well-established characteristic of the Irish that is well known. What kind of a sheltered upbringing have you had? What is your role at Amnesty? Office idiot?

  • Intolerance of having part of our country occupied?? Under foreign rule?? Tell me how we are bigots, when Britain invaded our land and refused to give it all back.

  • Hmmm. And there I was thinking NI was a democratic country that can elect to be part of the UK or ROI at every election just by which parties it votes for. Your comment is as stupid as saying the USA or Australia is "occupied" or indeed any country that exists today because of the migration of peoples that has happened since humans and animals existed. You yourself are "occupying" land that your ancestors weren't previously indigenous to. You're just selective in whih point of time you choose.

  • Um, No. We cant do that at every election. And no the US and Australia arent really occupied as such as the natives have been butchered to nothing. So not much resistance there. But if youre asking was the land stolen just like NI. Then yes it was. And if everyone lived by the principles outlined in your last sentance there would be no such thing as national pride. Why bother huh? what a tool.

  • al go nd paint em red again... n do a good job
