Luckily, I bought this game right before it was removed off of XBLA (company filed for bankruptcy). It's a pretty damn good port if you ask me.

I heard that there is a remake in the works for XBLA but id rather have the original arcade port,no idea why they removed it,maybe some licensing issue or something.I thought i had gone a little mad when i was looking for it to download as i was sure i had seen it there before but yah its gone,shame.

When they gonna give this game the remake it deserves. I have so many ideas it's ridiculous. 4 player coop on an offline with a mixture of castle crashers background with random stuff happening and humor engine, leveling-up and learning new moves.

At this point, your best bet is to download it off an emulator of some sorts if you can, or get a Jamma cabinet, and buy the PCB to the game. Another good option is to get the Gameboy Advance version, which is a lot like the arcade game (but has much more to it), and is the best Double Dragon game ever made as well, in my opinion. You can play it on Gamecube with a Gameboy Player as well.

It really sucks that they took this game off Xbox Live Arcade, as it was definitely one of the better games on it, and one of the best videogames ever, in my opinion. I thankfully have the arcade version to D.D., as I have the PCB for it (along with D.D. II, and 3) to use in my Jamma cabinet.

I just recently won a PS3 that I traded for an XBox360 for the sole purpose of dowloading their version, only to find that I can't get it there either. It was delisted on July 1, 2009 due to the closure of its publisher, Empire Interactive. Fucking Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the few games that I actually wanted to pay for on Live Arcade

I was worried, 'cause my 360 red ringed and I had to re-download all of my arcade games. But even though DD was delisted by this time, I was still able to re-download the full game. It's a good thing the download history information is stored on my hard drive, 'cause if it wasn't I'd most likely be shit out of luck.

Double Dragon brings back fond memories of playing the game in the arcade as a kid. It was the very first arcade game, I could actually beat. Too bad, Microsoft de-list the game from the Xbox Live Marketplace. It was going to be the first game, I downloaded from XBLA...

I purchased Xbox 360 only because I could finally play this game. Also, the original arcade Shinobi is finally available! Just pick up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection($30 at Best Buy) and beat the first level of Shinobi III. Once completed, you will 'unlock' the original arcade Shinobi. Absolutely perfect! No lag or glitches. Just like playing the original arcade. Enjoy, my fellow 'old school gamers'!!!!

Double Dragon Advance is by far the best version. Way better than this shitty emulated port. Unlimited continues ruins this, and a lot of other Xbox Live arcade games.

ah parce qu'en plus c'est même pas la vraie rom arcade,c'est une reproduction fidèle seulement à 90% puisque les niveaux sont les mêmes mais pas les sprites.

Finalement c'est pas si terrible que ça le XBLA!

Je préfère 100 fois mieux jouer avec l'émulateur MAME32 avec les vraies roms,

Même la version Sega Mégadrive était plus fidèle à l'originale que la version XBLA!

Great video! I hope that XBLA will release Double Dragon 2 sometime in the near future, especially for those who were too young to play either of these games in the arcades. that's not the whole story line. the shadow warrior boss (machine gun guy) is WANTED. also the thugs in the forest have it out against you using knives. there are many subplots.

Was that BattleToads/Double Dragon: The ultimate team I heard playing in the background towards the end? Ahh yes, DD is a great game, and who cares if there are better beat em ups like SoR2 on XBLA, DD just has immense nostalgic value, is quick for short bursts of play, and great online. The best part is seeing who can beat who at the end of the game! Manly! I too demand DD II on LIVE arcade during some point in time...

I don't understand why they didn't fix the slowdown. There's actually a bootleg version of the game that does resolve this issue and is even emulated on MAME.

I remember playing a terrible looking version on the computer when I was like 6 or 8. My brother and I would play this game over and over again. We had a saying when picked up the bat to attack people, "Whoever comes near me goes away~" and we'd beat the crap out of everyone with it.

Also; Double Dragon & Battletoads was the best Battletoads game.

Man, you really take your defeats in stride.  When I played this game, I was pulling my hair out and screaming obscenities that would have turned the Angry Nintendo Nerd chalk white, especially in those areas littered with instantly deadly pits, spikes, and rivers.

Before. Double Dragon first hit arcades in 1987; River City Ransom came to the NES in '89. Funny you mentioned it though, seeing as how it was developed by the same group (Technos).

The company was out of business, but its assets were acquired by Million (the next company formed by the former Technos staff, and who holds the rights to many of its games). It could explain why Atlus published the remakes.
