@GraemeGrande Thanks Mr. Muso for your guidance, little did I know I've been incorrectly putting strings on guitars for 20 years. I put these videos up for free to help people, but it never fails that someone out there will try and criticize to show their "expertise" on a subject as mundane as how to "properly" string a guitar. I looked through your channel and couldn't help but notice that you haven't created any how-to videos - maybe you should make one to better inform the public.
@acdckiller12 I do use Elixir w/ my ES-335 - just don't like them for a Strat. Honestly the main reason is that I tend to go through strings pretty often and it's more expensive to use Elixir. :)
Great, so somehow my string snapped whilst i was putting a new one on, which i don't understand because there was no tension on the string from the fret board, and it just snappped through the tuning peg thing :(
I just got finished restringing my fender strat, and it isn't as easy as you made it seem. it took me 45 minutes, but on the bright side I bought the same type of strings u suggested, and I love them!
i put on my string but its higher than all of my other strings..is this ok? i don't mean in sound, but its higher than all my other strings in height.
before looking this up like the douche i am i put the strings on but i did it wrong and the thickest string has broke does this mean ive ruined or damaged my guitar
I actually would recommend Elixir strings. They're usually $25 a pack, but they have anti-rust coat technology built in,usually have 3-5x's longer life than usual guitar strings, and they keep the sleakness/newness forever.(Not literally) I've had the same pair on one of my guitars for about 2 or 3 years now and they still feel new, haven't broke one in anyway (they're strong against playing hard and tuning mistakes) and they are simply amazing.
I play Metal and i have to tune my guitar very low,but with 10 gauge strings, they get very losse. So i want to buy 14-68 strings, but i'm afraid that can scrap up my Saddles and my nuts,
oh my fucking god!!! ive tried putting my string on 7 times and it breaks when i try to tune it up! im only like one tenth of the way there and it snaps!!
@kevin12161995 you probably have a ding in your guitar's nut (the piece near the tuning pegs). What you can do is take a really sharp pencil, or mechanical pencil with a small lead, and rub it in the nut's notch. It can reduce the ding, and also the graphite lubricates the nut making the string go on smoothly.
Hey..I would really appreciate if any of u would help me out this little problem..every time I tune my guitar down to drop C or to slipknot or maybe even just putting on new strings, my high e string snaps...I find that really weird as i thought they only snapped when tuning up? why does my e string snap when im only loosening the strings? PLEASE HELP! :D
i have a question? should you tune the strings on 1 run or tune it a little and go on the next day... cause i'm tuning the E string for ex. and i'm spinning the peg... and the tuner just won't show it's in tune... even if i switch to Drop C it says it's not even close in tune.. but the string is in high tenssion... so... and advice on that ? ^_^
and 1 more : when i tune the 1-3 strings the 6-4 string go out of tune . any way to avoid it?
@NaziZombie131 it won't come out where? on the head (broke off in the tuning peg) or on the bridge? Either way, you should be able to pull it out with needle nose pliers or even tweezers
@AdamCharlton - are you sure the video finished downloading? I'm seeing the whole tutorial. - Could you let me know specifically what is missing or where in the video it's ending for you?

As a veteran muso, I am amazed at how little you guys realy know about waht you are teaching.
You should be checking that the string is properly seated/bedded at the block before you hastily fully tighten the string.
You should also back wrap the string around the tuning peg to prevent slippage, especially on the plain wound strings, E B and G.
And what about the tension release on the neck and across the bridge as you rapidly remove the string?
Where did you guys learn this stuff?
Cheers,
