  • did you make you pod? I would like one but dont have money.

  • Hi jclewitt.

Backbone is 1/8" dural. Sides wrap about 15mm. Shape filled in with EPP foam glued and sanded. Covering is spray glue 3M77 with glass reinforced tape and black Gaffa over. Hinge-up design for base bar. Nylon boat hinge at the rear. A cross piece beneath and velcro straps. Chassis rests against the top of the bar. It hinges up, so could be fitted even if the glider is rigged flat. Because of GPS problem, the front 10cm of the alloy is now beechwood pop riveted down to the alloy!

  • I've never before seen such strong coverage from my old 76. Antenna design on my old 76 is compromised by the pod. Garmin won't acknowlege it, and modern 76's don't suffer this. A new one and it works better. (If I put my 76 on a car bonnet it looses 100% all satellites). This is antenna design. Downside might be now it gets more directional and sees satellites above strongly at the expense of low down ones. I don't actually mind if overall I get better coverage.

  • Awesome...sell your idea to Garmin. It's probably too late now.
