  • Does he bite you?

My russian roborovski hamster bites me... Well I never had have an hasmter before in my life, so in the start I didn't know how to get close to her. :\

  • Hey Kat,

Snowy is a she, and no, she doesn't bite :-)

Have you noticed any particular times or things that your hamster does when she bites?

  • I got a female russian hamster on tuesday of last week and she HATED me... wouldn't even take carrots and treats out of my hand. I think unless russians are handled from birth, they can be mean. Hopefully your hammy will start to like you soon. good luck!

  • @TheBethieOne Hamsters CANT be handled at birth, the mother will eat them.

  • Definitely agree, if you don't start holding them when they're a few weeks old they are more difficult to tame. My winter white is 8 or 9 weeks old and loves to bite and wont take treats from me either. I think she just needs time to adjust, and regular handling so she'll get used to me!
