What if the tax money came from corporations like GE, ExxonMibile and AIG (and countless others) that didn't pay any corporate tax this year? The senate bill that just passed only taxes high income insurance plans not the rest of them. in fact we also get tax credits too for having insurance, regardless of the plan if you makke less than 400 percent of poverty level. and with the reconciliation fix the tax won't even start for 8 years

This bill expands medicaid to by reducing payment to healthcare providers in medicare. There by in effect merging to two and making it poor quality rationed care. We can't add 30 million to a entitlement program and not ration care. Medicare is will be broke. Believe me ther is only one way to pay this debt and that is to raise taxes across the board. Also add new taxes on small to large products and vat tax on all production. That is what socialist Countries have to do to pay the entitlements.

Medicare cost 38 trillion this bill puts 15 million more people on it basically and also government subsidizes another 15 million through insurance companies. Please explain how we can afford this and how it will be paid for. Medicare start in 1965 with a cost est of 10 billion by 1990. In 1990 the cost was 98 billion. now it is in the trillions. The Voucher system has been suggested before. I think it is a great Idea. It would give retirees a voucher to buy the kind of insurance they want. If you buy a high deductible you can keep the money you save. For the poor who are very ill they could apply for extra to cover high cost plans. Rt. Now out of pockets for medicare are close to $5000 unless you buy a gap plan. The Voucher would allow you to buy the plan that best fits your needs with little or no OOP.

If you're 55 and over then you'll keep the current plan. If you're under 55 then we're going to reform the plan. If you make less than 25k a year then you'll keep the same system for free. If you make more than than that then you have to cover partial payments. If you have alot of money then you cover the majority of out-of-pocket cost.
Sounds good. Same logic can be applied to Social Security. I would have lost it.

What if the tax money came from corporations like GE, ExxonMibile and AIG (and countless others) that didn't pay any corporate tax this year? If the rich paid what they ought to, America wouldn't have a debt crisis. If corporations paid their taxes, America wouldn't be insolvent. This issue is completely senseless. America has a revenue problem, not a spending problem.

The senate bill that just passed only taxes high income insurance plans not the rest of them. in fact we also get tax credits too for having insurance, regardless of the plan if you makke less than 400 percent of poverty level. and with the reconciliation fix the tax won't even start for 8 years

This bill expands medicaid to by reducing payment to healthcare providers in medicare. There by in effect merging to two and making it poor quality rationed care. We can't add 30 million to a entitlement program and not ration care. Medicare is will be broke. Believe me ther is only one way to pay this debt and that is to raise taxes across the board. Also add new taxes on small to large products and vat tax on all production. That is what socialist Countries have to do to pay the entitlements.

Medicare cost 38 trillion this bill puts 15 million more people on it basically and also government subsidizes another 15 million through insurance companies. Please explain how we can afford this and how it will be paid for. Medicare start in 1965 with a cost est of 10 billion by 1990. In 1990 the cost was 98 billion. now it is in the trillions. When Ryan points out Medicare is bankrupt in 2017 and Slaughter doesn't even bat an eye, she is clearly not serious about governing.

Ryan's idea sounds good to me. The bill the Dems want to shove down our throats only makes solving the Medicare problem that much more difficult to solve. The Dems are so intent on keeping Medicare ( only 38 trillion underfunded) in tact the way it is. Ryan is right. It wont be there eventually. His idea actually does make the program permanently solvent. Sad that the Dems are going to destroy a program that needs to be fixed by expanding it today. I would like to know what the Dem plan is !

This is a joke when the Dems healthcare bill cuts medicare payments by $500 billion that is just a veiled way of rationing and denying care. Ryan has a good idea. The Dems just want a welfare state. They have proven that. Obama has expanded medicaid in the stimulus, and both budgets and now in this healthcare bill 15 million of the 30 million w/o insurance will end up on medicaid. 50% of Dr s don't take medicaid and very few hospitals. Many drugs and procedures are denied. Welcome to welfare

The Voucher system has been suggested before. I think it is a great Idea. It would give retirees a voucher to buy the kind of insurance they want. If you buy a high deductible you can keep the money you save. For the poor who are very ill they could apply for extra to cover high cost plans. Rt. Now out of pockets for medicare are close to $5000 unless you buy a gap plan. The Voucher would allow you to buy the plan that best fits your needs with little or no OOP.

Dems. sound like idiots here. Basically Ryan's argument is the following:
If you're 55 and over then you'll keep the current plan. If you're under 55 then we're going to reform the plan. If you make less than 25k a year then you'll keep the same system for free. If you make more than than that then you have to cover partial payments. If you have alot of money then you cover the majority of out-of-pocket cost.
Sounds good. Same logic can be applied to Social Security. I would have lost it.

Our health care system is incredibly inefficient - 30 other countries achieve better results at half the cost.
That doubled cost kills people, bankrupts people and businesses, and increases government deficits.
Ryan's proposals don't address the major problems, and no Republican majority would support them anyway.
At least the Democrats admit there's a problem and are willing to stake their political future on their solution.

so we lower costs and increase taxes? pass this healthcare bill. its a logical necessity, TAX and spend (ryan sounds 100% democrat in this video). we've been spending, now its time to pay for it.
this 'tax' must be higher for wealthy people to make up for the years and years of tax BREAKS they received (bush tax breaks amount to about $1.8 trillion in lost revenues for the U.S. gov't), they were taxed less, govt spent the same/more(additional costs of war), now its time to settle the debt.
