thank you thank you thank you for posting it!!! i've been looking for the whole movie..i cannot find it! where can iget it for free?! i think timothy is one of the best actors ever in the movies based on bronte's sisters..have you seen him in bbc production of Jane Eyre? amazing!
@Eliaziah I'm afraid you'll have to buy Wuthering Heights on DVD, it's no longer available here on youtube. I'm sorry, but I don't know any site where you could watch it for free. And I absolutely agree with you: Timothy Dalton is one of the best "Bronte men" in film history, if not the best... Of course I've seen him in Jane Eyre. It's one of my all time favourites and actually made me a Dalton fan. You're right, he truly was AMAZING as Rochester.
Does this big, green colored ghost come out of the sky later in this movie? (A long time ago, I saw a movie that was based in the 1800's, and later in the movie, some green ghost comes out of the sky making a loud wailing sound).
The scene from 1:47 until 1:54 has always been my favorite scene from the movie for some reason. The essence of Cathy and Heathcliff,to me.Dalton was the best Heathcliff to me.
Thank you! I agree with you, both scores are magnificent. If I had had the chance to use the 1970 score I would have done it, but Sakamoto's score is an excellent substitute.
I would like to commend you on a job well done regarding this video, LadyViolet. Very nicely edited and beautiful music that you've added. This version of Wuthering Heights remains one of my favorites to this day.
Thank you for sharing your revision of these scenes.
Thank you very much for your nice words! It took me ages to do this, that's why I don't often make videos like this, although it's great fun to make them.
It's also one of my favorite Wuthering Heights versions, the other one being the 1992 version with Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes. I can recommend that one as well.
A beautiful video. Both Anna Calder-Marshall and Timothy Dalton portray Cathy and Heathcliff so brilliantly. The intensity of their passion and love are amply displayed. This is just how Emily Bronte saw them when she wrote her masterpiece 'Wuthering Heights'
You're welcome! I gladly return the compliment and thank you for it! Although I must admit I haven't read Anne Bronte's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, yet... Shame on me!;)
I love this film. Anna Calder-Marshall was and still is a gifted actress. I first saw her in an old TV series called Boy meets Girl and she has stayed in my heart and mind ever since. Beatifull.
Because I don't have the original score but own the Sakimotoscore. I thought that the track "Catherine dies" suited well, especially in the beginning of the clip. For the scene of Catherine's burial was no music written, something I have always missed in that scene. And when I listened to the beginning of "Catherine dies" I thought it would be perfect for the burial scene.
it focuses on cathy's and heathcliff's story. the original plot was altered in some ways to enable the completion of the story after about 100 minutes of film.
that's the problem with cinema. you have only a limited amount of time whereas books are not that limited.
Hi, its a great clip u've made. I love the movie and the music in the clip is fantastic. I would be glad if I could see some other clips like this one.
Why dub over Michel Le Grands music, it pissed all over ryuichi sakamoto's soundtrack :( Tim Dalton was the best Heathcliff though !

isn't the song from the version with Ralph Fiennes though (I believe it's from 1994)

Yes, it's "Catherine Dies" from Ryuichi Sakamoto's wonderful score for the 1992 version with Ralph Fiennes.

I've always adored the 1970 score...but your combination of the video with the 1992 score is superb! Thanks!

Thank you! I love the Michel Legrand score too, but when I made this video I only had the Sakamoto soundtrack.

Thank you very much, starryian!
Very well said! Anna Calder-Marshall and Timothy Dalton really did shine in their roles!
Anna was excellent at portraying Cathy's lively nature, but also her selfishness and despair.
Timothy captured Heathcliff's enigmatic animal character brilliantly, with all the grieve and thirst for revenge and love bursting out of him.
I totally agree with you - Emily Bronte would have been proud!(overlooking the plot changes, of course);)

Thank you LadyViolet. You are obviously a big Bronte fan and read their works thoroughly. You have a keen eye for character analysis. Thanks again.

you surely will love it, one of the greatest love stories of all time-they were really meant to be.

I did love it. I also ordered the 1992 version for comparison, and even if this one doesn't really follow the book I prefer it. :)

In this film where shown only Catherines and Heatchliffs story or and the Catherines daughters?
