Life after death is pure wishfull thinking. Man created god and man wrote all the words in the quran. They are all man made. The purpose of life is not to suck up to some non-existing god in order to try to get to heaven and avoid hell. I am trying to enlighten the god beleivers to snap out of their hypnosis. They would have a better and more fulfilled life of they got rid of the silly odea of life after death, There is no life after death,. It is wishful thinking. This is our only life.
Well, those of us who do believe think that it is wishful thinking to think that there will be no life after death. Imagine a person who committed war crimes dying a natural/peaceful death without having been judged on earth, does it make sense for them to have the same fate as a good person or a victim? Life after death = accountability and responsibility!
And you'd do a much better job of 'enlightening' people if you stuck to arguments without insulting people or their beliefs!
Who wants to live forever? I dont. Imagine after being in paradise for 50 million years, (after finishing the 70 virgins off within a few months) and then having no challenges, no tests, no work. What a boring place. I would be begging god to terminate me out of shear boredom. Death is a part of life. It is what makes life so great. Get used to it.
That's your own problem. As I said, believers see your view as wishful thinking because it allows people to just have stuff 'end' and not be accountable for their actions. You wouldn't get bored with heaven, because in Islam heaven is by definition a place where people will be perfectly content. If some people want to do nothing forever they can, if some people prefer challenges good for them they can have that too.
Living forever is a manmade concept. You will just die like everyone else. Judgement and accountability is also man made. Also if you suggest that the ability to sin disapearss once in paradise then you are dead. (I am not condoning sin, I am condoning the freedom to sin) But you probably dont get that.
Of course people have freedom to sin, don't you see the world around you? Heaven, however, is a totally different kind of world where people will be cleansed of their leanings towards evil or sin. No one asked you to believe it, just respect the beliefs of others the way you'd expect them to respect yours.
How would you know what heaven is? You got taught my the religious leaders when you were yound, just like they did. It is man made. Man dreamed it up. He dreamed up the concept of burning fire in hell. How silly. pain is pain is pain. What difference does it make what is it source?
Do you honestly think there is a corrilation between good acts and bad acts and religious people and non-religious people? What crock. I know many atheist who are fantastic, loving compassionate people who have figured out that life is more fulfilling by loving and not doing it for reward but just for humanity. That is being really honest with yourself.
You were just trying to prove in a previous comment that bad acts are correlated with religion and now you scoff at the idea. Religion is a guide for people to help them get through life and leave the world a better place. What they do with that guide, whether they reject it, take some parts and ignore others, or even understand it is completely up to each one of them. That's why God gave us free will, so we can choose whether to believe or not.
I previously was making a correlation between religion and evil. Becuase religion IS evil. It is a mind altering brainwahsing experience. And it is the cause of most of the suffering in this world. There is no god.

You're right, it says that you have to "get your life in order before the eyes of God" which, in Islam, means that you don't hurt others, don't do bad things, and leave the world a better place. If someone does this while they're a Believer, that's the best. If they haven't seen the truth of Islam but they still do good, then God knows what is in their hearts and he judges them only according to what they personally know and have in their power. Don't know how you can interpret that as hate.
And your statement about how if someone insults a religion then you insult the follower. That is why religion is dangerous. If a particlular philosphy is disputed or mocked by someone else, then the philosopher himself should not feel insulted. If someone disagrees with someone else faith then they should just accept that. And in fact should always consider their point. It might change their veiw. But you cant do that becuase in a cult you cant leave the madness.
Ah, we get to an interesting point. I never said not to criticize and not to argue about it, which would indeed be dangerous and downright stupid. I objected to the insults. Anyone can throw around cheap insults, but that goes nowhere towards the betterment of humanity and it just alienates the followers of the religion you're insulting and creates hatred towards them. So instead of calling religions cults and madness why not debate the actual content of them in a professional manner?
Ex: Take an online fiction writing community. If someone leaves a comment on any story in that community which is just "this is stupid" or "this is ****" then that's not considered "criticism" it's considered an uneducated insult, however if someone were to comment with "I thought you didn't write the action scenes well" or "this character was unrealistic" then there would be something to discuss, and it would be constructive, meaningful criticism.
So there's a distinction between insults, which get us nowhere, and meaningful criticism which could lead to greater understanding or at least an interesting debate!
I've seen insults worse than yours, but I didn't give them a second thought. I started replying to you because you sounded like an intelligent commenter who actually wanted to have a good debate and I enjoy those, but then you just fell into pointless insults - there was nothing specific about religion being discussed anymore!
I know people of all religious backgrounds (from the strictest to atheists) who are awesome and some from all backgrounds who are horrible. And it's great that some people are compassionate and love humanity without religion, but that doesn't mean that religion has no place or that those same people couldn't have had a happier or better life with religion. As I said, it's a guide and people choose what to do with it.
The guide you talk about is common sense. You know when you are being an arsehole. You dont need a book or a religion to tell you. You just need to teach your children about love, ethics, integrity and the importance of making humanities world safer and more compassionate. And you can do this WITHOUT scaring the shit out of them with Hell and wrath of god crap.

Life after death is pure wishfull thinking. Man created god and man wrote all the words in the quran. They are all man made. The purpose of life is not to suck up to some non-existing god in order to try to get to heaven and avoid hell. The purpose is to leave humanity better than you found it so that the children left behind will be in a safer and better world. This should be done with no expectation of reward but purely for the good of humanity. That is pure unconditional love.

Well, those of us who do believe think that it is wishful thinking to think that there will be no life after death. Imagine a person who committed war crimes dying a natural/peaceful death without having been judged on earth, does it make sense for them to have the same fate as a good person or a victim? Life after death = accountability and responsibility!
And you'd do a much better job of 'enlightening' people if you stuck to arguments without insulting people or their beliefs!

That's your own problem. As I said, believers see your view as wishful thinking because it allows people to just have stuff 'end' and not be accountable for their actions. You wouldn't get bored with heaven, because in Islam heaven is by definition a place where people will be perfectly content. If some people want to do nothing forever they can, if some people prefer challenges good for them they can have that too.

You're right, it says that you have to "get your life in order before the eyes of God" which, in Islam, means that you don't hurt others, don't do bad things, and leave the world a better place. If someone does this while they're a Believer, that's the best. If they haven't seen the truth of Islam but they still do good, then God knows what is in their hearts and he judges them only according to what they personally know and have in their power. Don't know how you can interpret that as hate.

If a particlular philosphy is disputed or mocked by someone else, then the philosopher himself should not feel insulted. Ah, we get to an interesting point. I never said not to criticize and not to argue about it, which would indeed be dangerous and downright stupid. I objected to the insults. Anyone can throw around cheap insults, but that goes nowhere towards the betterment of humanity and it just alienates the followers of the religion you're insulting and creates hatred towards them. So instead of calling religions cults and madness why not debate the actual content of them in a professional manner?

If someone leaves a comment on any story in that community which is just "this is stupid" or "this is ****" then that's not considered "criticism" it's considered an uneducated insult, however if someone were to comment with "I thought you didn't write the action scenes well" or "this character was unrealistic" then there would be something to discuss, and it would be constructive, meaningful criticism.

I know people of all religious backgrounds (from the strictest to atheists) who are awesome and some from all backgrounds who are horrible. And it's great that some people are compassionate and love humanity without religion, but that doesn't mean that religion has no place or that those same people couldn't have had a happier or better life with religion. As I said, it's a guide and people choose what to do with it.

You just need to teach your children about love, ethics, integrity and the importance of making humanities world safer and more compassionate. When you die,. You are dead. That is it. All the atoms in your body return to the earth. The chemical processes in you r brain cease and your "soul" is dead. Get used to it. Is it so hard to accept that life has finality. Look at all the other living plants and creatures on earth. Are they waiting for eternal life? No. The purpose of life is to replicate. And our purpose is to be happy and leave a legacy on earth that makes it safer when we die.
