We need to factor out self-delusional attempts to defeat aging and focus on the scientific quest to extend the period before senescence begins.

After all, many people don't want to live beyond 50 or 60 and want to die before old age begins.

This should be a simple scientific quest without Ponce de Leon artifacts, I think.

Starting this piece by saying the 50 is the new 30 seems delusional at best.
