There are lots and lots of families that molest their own children sexually or not.

The intention of theat rockopera as putting a lot of "things" to decypher, things implied. Tommy's blindness for example. It was to show our blindness to the world.

When talking about a theme so important and heavy, writers must face the real world and, like I said, molesting kids exists(I'm not agreeing with it). And John Entwistle was very sadisct.
