  • I like Elevators at hospitals

  • the elevator at pentagon city mall parking elevator do that!

  • That model of montgomery looks really dated and averytime I ride in it it smells bad almost like cigaratte smoke! lol

  • seems pretty old

  • This elevator seems like it is starting to cavitate; meaning it is running low on oil and and the pump is starting to suck air.

  • I rode this thing in 1997 or 1998 and I don't remember it doing this ****!

  • ?? I did ride it

  • where is this I want to ride it and see how much it joilts

  • did you ever get to ride it?

  • Yes, the stress was probably caused by lots of use.

  • The death trap may be caused by a very thin cylinder with high horsepower motor.

  • Not to mention the probability of it being very weak due to the stress.

  • WHen was the elevator installed?

  • 1990s.

  • my god, thats scary

  • why does it shake and is it scary??

  • There is something wrong with either the controller and/or the motor. The elevator can surprise people who have never been on it before. My main concern is the amount of stress placed on the hydraulic cylinder, which could be quite risky.

  • o ty and i live in roswell ga and have been on ur vid elevator in the atlantic station

  • What's on Floor PL?

  • It's another part of the store.

  • What's on level PL?

  • There is an Elevator at Saks in Stamford Town Center in Stamford, CT, that was insalled in 1982. If I get a chance, I will film it next weekend.

  • I couldn't film it, sorry. The STC Saks elevator is Allied, and the one near my house, which opened in 1977 is Millar. They are both hydraulic, and both serve 3 floors.

  • Quess what? You young punks? Take the steps, they are never broken! Punks on a joy ride, huh? Quit complaining and take the steps. Pretty simple for simple minds.

  • It said L on 3 different levels

  • The floor counter has issues.

  • it think it's just the color of the lights because i don't think that that technology was available in the 80s but i could still be mistaken

  • ???

  • LEDs have been around since the 70's.

  • How often does the elevator have been inspected?

  • Every month.

  • Also, do the floor indicators use an LED or a vacuum fluorescent light source?

  • I hate those buttons with the green light on the left

  • 1992/1993? That still is relatively new, since the lifespan for an elevator should be about 30-40 years.

  • Mid-80's I believe.

  • This elevator IS old, and this is probably a Mongomery Kone

  • Yes and No; It's just a Montgomery.

  • freak, you have NO idea and just playing with your buddys here. Its a Mongomery, that was bought out by KONE, a overseas company. Freak, your real close on all this , but off by a margin. Margins make a difference.

  • What exactly is your point?

  • My point being is that you have NO idea of what your talking about when it comes to elevators. Thats my point!! If your so enamored by elevators,go to work for a company and learn what your talking about ,before spewing false info on the internet. Google elevator companys, wide choice of which to learn from.

  • Can you show me the up and down lanterns for this elevator?

  • You can see them at the beginning of the video.

  • The funny thing is that the elevator really isn't as old as the store itself. This one was put in during the 1992-93 renovation. I remember when they had the original elevators in the center of the store. I was a baby then, but I remember it perfectly...my mom shopped at that Saks a lot when I was little. I just did some Christmas shopping there as a matter of fact.

  • Wasn't that store built in the 1960's?

  • Yeah it did. There was an elevator/spiral staircase setup in the middle of the store that was completely removed for that early 90's renovation. Come to think of it, this elevator may actually be older because it would definitely be necessary to get access to the store from the decks. But I do vividly remember the original double elevators in the middle for a fact.

p.s. I was actually at Saks again today...I felt the jolt coming from the upper level going down to P3. lol.

  • It seems like Montgomery just didn't like the plain-jane 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. system. Almost all their elevators have floors labeled with letters.

My local mall, the Silver City Galleria (Taunton, MA), was built in '92 and features all Montgomery elevators. They're all labeled with LL and UL for floor selection. There also are no digital floor indicators inside, just transparent letters over a light bulb. The chimes, hall lanterns, and obnoxiously clunky buttons are the same though.

  • Yes, but 3 of the floors are labeled as L, and at the end, it indicated the 5th floor, which was not present in the initial clip.

  • Montgomery Hydraulic elevators are crappy, but Montgomery's traction elevators are the best bc it never have any problems. I suggest you to find one and take video of it. I rode one yesterday at St. Joseph's hospital.

  • I don't know of many; most of the buildings in Atlanta are new due to the explosive population growth. The metro area grew from 4.1 to 5.1 million people from 2000 to 2006.

  • Interesting. I guess it must be rare to find a Montgomery traction elevators

  • I'm really surprised that was not a traction elevator, given that the mall is über-upscale.

  • Most of the tractoin elevators are in hospipitles and tall office buildings but there is a traction elevavator in a 3 story macys at monroville mall but its very slow for a traction very slow!

  • the shindler tractions are no good there are 4 visitor elevators at childens hospitel 2 were broken at eh same time 2 worked I waited for ten minets I finaly got in but I could not get the door to shut it kept opening and it closed until the doors were about 3 inches apart from each other but nothing was in the way so I decided tho walk up 10 flights of stairs. I like to inspect elevators my self but Im 14 years old

  • These elevators (Montgomery "Twinkie Ms" from circa 1985 to KONE's buyout in the late 90s) are VERY common at Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville, TX.

  • freehold raceway mall in nj only has these in sears and jcpenney. otherwise the elevators are schindlers, an otis in nordstrom, and a dover in the food court. all the escalators are schindler except for sears (montgomery), nordstrom (dover), and lord & taylor(montgomery KONE). but lord & taylor has a schindler elevator and a montgomery kone escalator. and nordstrom has a otis elevator and a dover escalator.

  • At Phipps, this is the only Montgomery elevator; the rest of them are made by Schindler.

  • and you see lots of these at the other buildings besides the main one at j&r computer world in new york city. but all the escalators are dover and the main building has dover elevators.

  • At 2:16, I heard a loud bang. What kind of bang is it?

  • A death trap that scares you.

  • That shaking was not me (I was using a camcorder w/ image stabilization), it was the elevator itself.

  • It's the upward acceleration when starting up from some of the upper floors.
