Good job with putting this together guys. The producer gas is a mix of hydrogen and carbon monoxide (which is toxic, so I don't recommend eating a grilled cheese from it) its the hydrogen that's combusting, so its actually the oxygen content that disrupts ignition, since it isn't an oxidation process. Great Alternative FULE.
@srstuthers The carbon monoxide is burning off too, so pretty much all the exhaust gas is carbon dioxide. That triple bond is just desperate to unwind in the presence of another oxygen atom and some heat...
Have you ever thought of using crumb rubber from old car tires as fuel instead of wood, since it has a greater BTU value? Just a thought I had. Best Wishes.

It's realy no different then grilling it over a campfire, all we're doing is displacing the flame from point A to point B.
