  • Meant to say "Beat It Mr. Mtich" no physical threat here. sorry that came out wrong!!!

  • MrMitch ~ Are you serious right now? You obviously don't know much of Gary Moore's work. Otherwise you wouldn't have made such a ridiculous statement. Gary Moore was one of the best blues players ever! Ever listened to Parisienne Walkways? How bout Still got the blues or Picture of the Moon to name a few.

  • @brwnneyedgrl Yep and what about King of The Bues...and all the shit he did with Albert King AND Albert Collins, is the dude completely insane. Mr. Moore did the Blues very proud, and I say this as a third generation African/American (Black) Blues artist. Beat Mr. Mitch, you're done!

  • john sykes is an awesome guitarist and he can sing his ass off too!!! i'm a fan and glad he is or was still going out to let people here some great songs from thin lizzy era... his shit is really good too + he helped write some really great material with whitesnake! Totally awesome musician.....

  • this are a gary moore song, not a thin lizzy song

never the less i think you don understand, they only want play for the fans, who cant se thin lizzy with phil

  • no phil !!! no thanks!!

  • @TheJeanmarien Phils been dead for 20 odd years you silly twatThin Lizzys a name only

  • @MrMitch2718, get your facts right, Eric Bell was the guitarist in Thin Lizzy for Whiskey In the Jar. Gary left because of the drug problems ie: he didn't do drugs but, then again, I suppose that's what you do so you know f*** all about lizzy and Gary solo, a fair few million people can't be wrong!

  • gary moore was an arsewipe didnt write this got 1 hit with an irish folk song cover of whiskey in a jar then thought he was to big for thin lizzy and ventured on a solo and failed

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMitch2718 Yes and had a very successful career, whats the problem, Gary moore had more success than Lizzy!

  • gary moore was an arsewipe

  • John Sykes does a great job on vocals & solo, Phil would approve I think, great playing from all, there is such a thing as Eric Sykes, he was a comic genius, ask your parents...

  • ARE YOU ALL IDIOTS!!!!!!! There is no such thing as Eric sykes, his name is John Sykes and he's one of the best guitar players to ever come out of Europe. He wrote most of the songs for David Coverdale and Whitesnake back in their heyday..........

Saw the show it was Awsesome.... where do you FUCKS come from.... LOL

  • thinn lizzy with key boards oh hell no

  • Going to see then tonight without the best ever PHIL!!!!!Hope they make PHIL PROUD!!!STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU PHIL!!! RIP!!!!Missing your amazing voice and your amazing words!Saw you in 1980 in Jersey AMAZING,WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!!!! 52 NOW and i miss you PHIL,the poet!!!! The Best!<3

  • YA GET GIGAR !!!

  • but the music lives on :)

  • this version is crap!!!!

  • Eric Sykes is Lizzy's best ever guitarist and has been very brave to croon this classic blues with his best oirish lilt and I'm glad they resisted the temptation to hire a Phil lookalike/soundalike.

  • @swaganeer Eric Sykes??? who the fuck is Eric Skyes, thats a new one on me, and why the fuck would they want to hire a Phill lookalike, it aint a cove band, phill could never be replaced, this is just a recarnation of Thin Lizzy, and fair play to them too

  • JOHN SYKES WAS VERY CLOSE TO PHIL AND LOVED HIM DEARLY...THIS BAND IS AN ODE TO PHIL... DON'T DIS THE GUYS WHO ARE TRYING TO CARRY ON PHIL'S SPIRIT AND GENIUS TO A YOUNGER AUDIENCE WHO DIDN'T GET THE CHANCE TO SEE PHIL LIVE......LET'S ALL SUPPORT THEM AS FELLOW ROCKERS INSTEAD!!!

  • @SDMFAnthony01 I AGREE WITH YOU,MAN!!!!

  • Can all you pansies stop crying about how its not Thin Lizzy without Phil as if you are making a prophetic statement that noone had thought of before you had a moment of divine connection. Sykes is Awesome. Phil Lynott Isn't turning in his grave, he approves of John and they were friends till the end. Phil isn't at the mic and that's that. Now for the rest of us who came here knowing it was John and the guys celebrating the music of Thin Lizzy, lets us continue to ENJOY the SHOW !!! /zipit Thx

  • All honour to Sykes, - he joined Lizzy, and gave the energy to Phil that kind of lacked since Brians departure. Still, allthoug great guitarplay, this is not Lizzy, missing the spirit and the soul of the band. R.I.P Phil

  • we all miss phil guys but this is a celebration of his music. he will be watching upstairs with that big grin on his face. cant wait to see them again in aberdeen next year. rip big man

  • No Phil, No interested (sorry) :-(

  • THIN LIZZY was the best in the world but only when the lying asshole gary moore was not with them . how that twat is not locked up i dont know . 1st he nicks peter greens les paul then he sell it last year for 2 millon he is geting done in the usa for that tis year . then he got done millons for saying he wrote still got the blues when did not a band called Juds Gallery wrote it the song is called Nordrach . it is on youtube have a look . GARY MOORE THE BIGGEST ASSHOLE IN MUSIC

  • @yorkshiretractors What a fuckin cock

  • @jackshit6 it is not that big but thank you all the same

  • @yorkshiretractors Err, what's all that got to do with this video?

  • Omg why is everyone complaining about J Sykes here? first of all if you look back at J Sykes's 80's work with Blue Murder you will notice how great he is, then you should listen to the best album Whitesnake had (''Whitesnake''), guees who was the guitarist at that time? When Coverdale Fired Sykes he needed Campbell and Vanderberg to replace Sykes. Just get over it Sykes is a Guitar Master and btw hes 51 now R.I.P Phil

  • as said elsewhere good that they keep the music alive and even more if Downey has rejoined them but without Lynott they will never be Lizzy. He was everything that made them what they where.

  • ditto

  • Comment removed

  • @nitro70e ummmm....no he wasnt!

youre getting mixed up brian robertson

  • @MaxKersh321 lol lmao sry m8 ur right ,john was with tigers of pantang still think his vibrato is a bit heavy though soz getting old m8 lol

  • Still Kicking ass!! Great to see there is gonna be a THIN LIZZY Tour 2011 ,.. starting in Jan.2011 in The UK & I can't wait until the *Lads* make it to Calif. & Arizona too & Thanks to Brian Downey & Darren Wharton for re-joining the Band!

  • i was at this gig and this song was definitely the highlight. Sykes did a very good job on vocals (no easy task). Phil died 4 years before i was born so i never had the oppertunity to see them in thier prime. This was the next best thing for me and i loved it.

  • No PL and no GM makes for a poor immitation of a great rock band.

  • haha the bassist looks awful <-< NO phil!

  • Sykes playing solos in ballad like this, I cant help listening whole through.

he plays so natural like flowing a river, with much pain and melancholy we all have inside.

  • @toketa Your'e so absolutely right, toketa. You have the right poetic feeling for electric guitar solos. They're rivers flowing and full of loss and loneliness - but of hope too. Sykes gives that to us. He is an artist.

  • Bollocks, why don't people say that about Bon Scott and AC/DC??? Lizzy should live on.

  • Bollocks, John Sykes is a legend. Why don't people say that about AC/DC and Bon Scott?????? the music should live on. Go and see limehouse and re-live all those classic tunes.

  • i watched lizzy in g lasgow ha they were backing bachman turner overdrive i tell you Lizzyn rule they guys did,nt have a aclue we fucked off to lauders and came back to see the encore you had to see them live to appreciate it thanks phil for the memories

  • No Phil? no ya don't ya bastids :-)

When it's gone, it's gone. (someone tell that to mr.van zant too)

  • was phil dead at that

     time???

  • @95cillballs do you see him playing?

  • This is a tribute with the old mates.. they tell all the people it's gonna be this way.. respect..

  • Who are the performers on stage? I can't tell.. seems one must be Sykes, and the rest?

  • saw gary moore last year he was piss up he cant play live and when he stop playing the sound kept going is that a backing tape or what ? he treats fans like shit gary moore the biggest twat in music

  • John Sykes FTW. Love it. You go John! The one and only stand-in for Phil that even he would stamp "approved". The phrasing, the emotion, the guitar as a bonus. A+

  • MaxKersch321, I agree with you. But also one of the best rock love songs of all time. But I'm afraid nothing can beat Phil Lynott's rendition of this song

  • Yadda yadda... Sykes only reformed the band because people ASKED HIM TOO. People WANTED A THIN LIZZY REUNION, EVEN WITHOUT PHIL. John never needed to do it... He has received already a lot of money with Blue Murder, Whitesnake and even his solo work resulted in some profit. Plus, for those who diminish his playing, I dare you to play half of what John does. His an all-around excellent guitar player, one of the best EVER. He doesn't sing like Phil, but he's still an awesome singer. Stop braggin.

  • du putain de son !!

  • Just isn't the same.. even trying to imitate Phil's singing style, the bass doesn't sound the same. It's really heartbreaking because every Thin Lizzy bandmate had so much talent, but I feel they were best when all were present-- circa "Live and Dangerous" was maybe their best.. with Robbo still there and especially, Phil Lynott.

  • Funny thing I saw lizziy about 7 times over the years the last time was on the black rose tour they were awfull I ended up walking out I never heard them play as good as limehouse lizzie only on the live and dangerous album but never on stage

  • Horrible! Sykes makes them sound like a pub band. The band should call themselves "The Sykes Ego Trip" no wonder Downey didn't want to play with them, he has my repsect!!! Lizzy died when Phil did! He must be turning in his grave!

  • Nooooooooooo. No. No. No and no. No feeling at all.

Terrible COVER. Shame on them for playing under the name of Thin Lizzy.

And that constant vibrato is soooooo annoying.

  • This was great, I saw them live.

Legacy is legacy, but why Brian who is the most lizzy is not touring? I heard that it is bacause he said that he won't be playing under name "Thin Lizzy" that is sad.

  • I came back to hear Scott. I fast fowarded to Scott's solo.

  • I still in love with you; Gary, Philo, John, Snowy, Scott, Erics, Brians, Francesco, Tommy, no matter what:)

  • for boongg, no offense mate, but you seem to love John's playing so very much you keep coming back! I know, it is just sooo sweet you can't stay away.

btw sykes0925 is in ALL LIKELYHOOD far closer to the truth than you... really now!

    You were there?

You KNOW that was his "reason".

    Rubbish

  • Go Scotty baby!!!..u are ThinLizzy thru and thru!!!!..love your solo here..brings tears..

  • To all the critics of this just for your info

Phil Lynott totally encouraged John Sykes

to step up and sing vocals and be a front

man even though John was somewhat

apprehensive at first he eventually gave

in and started to sing backround vocals

while still in Lizzy and I am sure that Phil

Lynott would approve of him carrying on

    the Thin Lizzy legacy.

  • my uncle is their tour manager. he was off to the right side of the stage. got a lot of pictures from this gig. awesome performance.

  • No Phil, no Thin Lizzy, sorry I am a purest at heart with this band, the years 76 to 78 are the best, great sound. I miss those days of mid circa 1970s, getting high, living care free...RIP Phil...

  • well i saw lizzy in 1979 . but anything that keeps lizzy name going is ok by me . the only thing i dont like is that asshole GARY MOORE the biggest twat in music

  • No Lynottt, No Lizzy!

  • i can see where ur coming from cos im like that with Sabbath no Ozzy no Sabbath lol

  • really cool song..thinn lizzy was sure a good band

  • john sykes is the best, i was at this show at the front it kicked arse. i was surposed to see them in june but they split shame. thin lizzy are my fave band, but i wasn't old enough to see the original band, thanks to these guys i got to hear my fave songs live. so shut the fuck up slaggin them off bitches

  • nice guitar solo

  • lol even thow its not phil his voice is still very good and sounds really similar

  • Sykes' metalisation of this song is horrific. Yes John, you've got great sustain because you use so much gain, but that's not what this song is about.

  • @curlaz63 The funny thing is that he sounds great on it from Life Live back in '83... But his vibrato makes me sea sick now. He was a better player back in the day.

  • Yah its only Sykes I think - hard to tell - can't see who's drumming.

Still its a great version though and sykes doesn't do bad singing it.

  • i went to see them in Cambridge and Tommy Aldridge was the drummer then....looking at the mop of hair behind the kit, it's probably still him.

  • NOT THIN LIZZY

  • Sorry but this just ain't Thin Lizzy.

  • Of course its thin lizzy. Thats like saying its not America without george washington

  • Sykes's slow vibrato is annoying. It's not vibrato. It's half-step bending.

  • WOW... this is John Sykes you know?

    Awesome player.

    A W E S O M E

No one cares if you think his slow vibrato is annoying.

  • this comment was/IS for boongg

  • There's at least one more: Coverdale. He fired Sykes because of his vibrato.

  • hahahahahahaha that loser was just jealous of john's talent

  • @boongg Really? Fired because of his vibrato? I think his vibrato is terrible here, he is borderline bending notes out of pitch... I love Sykes on the Life Live album.. I wish he'd go back to that style.

  • @boongg i think youll find sykes was fired because he was screwwing tawny coverdales wife not for his vibrato lol dont blame him shes hot lol

  • @nitro70e I always thought that it was Rudy Sarzo that was screwing Coverdale's wife! I'm sure I read that somewhere.

  • @boongg you and I are on the same page with the half step bending/vibrato

  • hello folks, could someone please tell me out of the live and dangerous line up what band members are still in this version? I know that phil and brian sadly passed away

  • Brian Downey or Brian Robertson aint dead man. Their is just Scott left from that line-up and now since John has left he is the only member in thae band now that was ever in Lizzy

  • Sorry but no Phil Lynott. No Thin Lizzy

  • I agree. Though these guys are very talented and have their own uniqueness it ain't the same without Phil. Thin Lizzy without Phil is like a chocolate cake with no fat kid to eat it.

  • sadly man yer right

  • i totally agree my friend,peace bro

  • @dirmo77 i call bull on this.

they've gone through so many transformations that without eric bell, their was no thin lizzy after that.

  • @tyu198 Well he was untill Downey came back i cant believe he did i taught he shared the opinion as most TRUE lizzy fans No Philo, No Lizzy

  • This is not Thin Lizzy it is The John Sykes Thin Lizzy Tribute Band without Phil it just isn't the same and calling it Thin Lizzy is a sick joke.

  • Everyone knows that without Phil it isn't the same. I do think that they do a good job letting people continue to hear the music. I saw them on the One Night Only tour and was very impressed.

  • muito bom msm!!!

  • ha i was stood right behind you at this gig, it was awsome. im goin to see them in liverpool next wednesday 24 6 09. that'll be the 6th time i've seen them. best band around

  • Newcastle Evening said on 21 4 2009 Maybe it was just the sound. All night Moores three-piece backing band were struggling for a voice. Moore himself, a fabulous technician who let the pyrotechnics just bury the songs and the all-important subtlety.Five tracks in you didnt know whether to clap, cry mercy, or dive for cover. just what i saw so it was not just leeds

  • saw gary moore at leeds in april . he was RUBBISH. not talking to the fans falling out with the rest of the band telling the fans to fuck off it was just a mess he as truned in to a twat . we paid £ 40 to see him what a wast

  • FYI - That is not Gary Moore! That is John Sykes on lead guitar and vocals. He is aweome!

  • Comment removed

  • no better lead guitar from Gary Moore ...and pw of cource

  • best lovesong ever .....

  • People just need to give them some space. Scott is in this heart and soul. Sad that Phil is gone, but does it mean that the rest of the band give up. I think it is a credit to Scott and the new band to make a come back and remind us of our youth. Thin Lizzy live fondly in many memories, and the new line up and trying there best to create these songs exceptionally. Long live Thin Lizzy !

  • I saw Thin Lizzy w/ Sykes singng in a small bar in San Diego called Brick by Brick. They sounded perfect.

  • well done that man (last posting ) , my sentiments exactly . just enjoy people !, its a pleasure just to keep the music going .Phil will never be forgotten ,by us or these guys

  • Can't believe every time a video is posted of these guys it turns into people saying how "it's not the real Thin Lizzy!". We know for christ's sake. They make a big deal of paying tribute to Phil at every gig. Just enjoy hearing some great music that you wouldn't hear live in a big stage if not for these guys.

  • For gods sake , will you listen to yourselves ! get a life please !

Phils own mother Philomena was in the audience at this gig , giving her blessing to the guys , and as far as i am concerned if she agree'd to the line up in her sons honour then its ok with me ,and the other thousands of fans who turned up to , just appreciate the music guys

  • why they do this this isnt Phil so wrong

  • i totally agree my friend. this is NOT thin lizzy and it NEVER will be. shame on all involved in this travesty

  • when i saw them every man woman and child in the house loved it. it may not be thin lizzy but people liked it.

  • each to their own my friend

  • That's cool but they should just call themselves something different, then all this BS would stop.

  • John Sykes really is truely awesome without a doubt , and yes his slow vibrato must annoy even Scott, but i have seen and heard worse from even the great Robbo himself, anyhows these guys are fantastic live , now i know it will never be the same without Phil ,( how could it ? )but hey ! its the next best thing

  • We all gotta remember that they are great musicians... great talent.... but they will be flying on PHIL"S cape forever..

  • thin lizzy isnt thin lizzy without phil lynottt!!!!

  • I agree !

  • John Sykes is a brilliant player no doubt about it I also don't like his slow vibrato if he was to speed it up it would sound awesome!

As for Brian Robertson he would play if you could get him away from a bottle of beer he is an alcoholic what a waste!

  • Well I agree that this sounds like one of John's worse but calling him a bad guitar player makes me laugh man. Phil would laugh with you as well.

  • lol, yes I suppose if I tried I could play that vibrato. I'm not going to blow my own trumpet but I can say that I can certainly call myself a versatile competent player. And you know, mmmbop was a catchy tune.

My point is that I am qualified enough to recognise bad playing, overplaying, deaf musicians (with the exception of Beethoven) and plain nobheads like Sykes.

  • I agree that you can't have Thin Lizzy without Phil. But what the fuck, take a look around at what's left of music. Rock music was utterly disgraced in the 90's and it has never recovered (Staind anyone ?). Be glad that for one night atleast, you can actually hear a band that knows how to play. Phil or no Phil, Scott and John pour their hearts out everytime they play this song and for this reason....LIZZY LIVES.

  • Well john does not have the voice of philo but at least people have a chance to hear the Lizzy's songs live again Scott rocks

    rip Phil

  • i liked scott more when he played his les paul!!

  • God I hate Sykes. I hate his voice, his guitar playing (what's up with that fucking slow shit attempt at vibrato?!), his face, his everything. He can lick my balls for all I care. He sounds soooo bad. Where's Robbo when we need him?

  • Can you play his vibrato ? Can you play vibrato at all ? Most guitar players can't (see Kirk Hammet)....Maybe you should lick my balls ?

  • Why would I want to play his vibrato??? I said it was crap right? I am a player. For 20 years in fact. So don't give me your shit.

  • I asked if you're capable of playing his vibrato, not whether or not you like it. I've heard loads of guitar players who have been playing for 20 years and can't play worth a damn. What's your point ? Your band probably covers Hanson....MMMBOP.

  • the worse sound I've EVER heard from Sykes.. truely not a good sound man that night.. SORRY john LUV ya bro

  • Still in love with you without Gary and Phil is shit

  • So you are saying the Live and Dangerous version is shite?

  • No Thin Lizzy exists without Phil Lynott, but Sykes was great with Blue Murder and Tommy Aldridge in Whitesnake and with Ozzy, great musicians

  • Thin Lizzy....?????

my arse....this is thin piece of crap!!

    hey just my opinion...!!

  • it´s not that what I thaught I would get, but GREAT TOO!! Really*****

  • Phil Lynott said in 1983: " John Sykes is what the band has needed since Robbo left. He's as crazy as Robbo, as blonde as Snowy, as fast as Gary Moore and he's John Sykes! This guy is gonna make a name for himself I feel he's that good and that's no bulls**t!" Lynott knew what he was talking about! If Sykes hadn't joined in 1983, then Lizzy would have come to a very sad end indeed! Sykes helped win the band many new fans - I know because I, at the tender age of 12, was one of them!

  • that tone sux too on sykes' guitar...man its horrid............

  • thre slow version sux arse...john sykes ruined the vibe that thin lizzy had....brian robertson and gorham weas the best line up

  • saw them on tour in southampton in december 07, brilliant gig :D

  • john sykes is a silly widdly guitarist ! hes like an extreme version of gary moore. who is a widdly widdler aswell. sorry its just how i feel!!

  • Oh man!!!!! this is a great formation... a great continuation to a legendary band, Phil would be so proud...

  • no sorry john is not a leader his guitar is great but singing no he lacks that buzz that phil had [rip]

  • I was at there concert last night in inverness and they were magic!! I had only ever heard n of their songs and it was my first concert! Me and the bassist kept making funny faces at each other and at the ned he gave me his signed pik (omg!) and singer man mouthes the words hey baby to me!!

They were just pure magic! 10/10

  • The vibrato is so bloody annoying, wish he would just play the damn solo properly

  • I 100% agree. Sykes isn't Lizzy and never will be. He was never right for the band. I wish Phil was here so he'd put an end to this joke.

  • bloody annoying indeed. I wonder how they dare to call themselves Thin Lizzy. Have they got no pride!?

  • Cud'nt agree more, guys.

This should be forbidden by law.

  • who's on the bass? and drums?

  • who cares? Totally agree with the above comments, I don't mind them playing coz they're earning a living....but they shouldn't play under the Thin Lizzy name..IT AIN'T LIZZY MAN! Robbo's solo blows skyes out of the water!! Actually the 1st solo was written by G Moore, which was kept on Nightlife album! My 3 yr old boy loves Lizzy now....the music continues to live on, cheers for the gr8 vibes Philo;-)

  • but it IS Thin Lizzy. John Sykes IS Thin Lizzy now, dude. Thin Lizzy lives on and on untill all the Lizzy band members are all gone.

  • In the words of Phil Lynott....."NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO......NO.....NO.....this is a song we wanna do.....this is a song called The Rocker...."

  • I saw Thin Lizzy (as in John Sykes & Co.) open for Deep Purple a few years back. It was a very nice tribute to the irreplaceable Phil Lynott and his legacy in the music world. I though John Sykes handled the vocal's very well. Although Phil is gone, I am certainly glad that Mr. Sykes has taken the initiative to keep Phil Lynott's music in the spotlight for those of us who are too young to have seen Thin Lizzy when Phil was still alive. Thank you, John Sykes - keep on rockin'! - R.I.P. Phil.

  • I was there in december 07 it was fuckin great. rock on lizzy

  • In SYKES we TRUST ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Das ist eins von den schönsten Rockbalden. Ich war in Nürnberg auf ihrem Konzert und ich finde John Sykes singt den Song mit sehr viel Gefühl.

  • true! lizzy is still alive with sykes, brian, scott, gary, eric, etc ... even though captain farrell is gone! let us all live with the memories and enjoys the boys still carrying lizzy along. That's what phil would have loved them to do!

  • Just enjoy for what it is, The past has gone. Sykes played with Phil. He knows and he is just trying to keep alive the works of Lizzy. I saw them recently and it made me re-live those years and the three times I saw Lizzy with Phil. May be not the same but a great memory !

  • I don´t understand how could they go around calling themselves Thin Lizzy. It´s embarrassing. And that constant vibrating of notes, it´s so annoying! The original one makes me weep, while this cover gets on my nerves. Phil can not be replaced!!!

  • John's vibrato of notes used to be sweet, but he has exaggerated it so much, it is quite irritating. I have heard him make his vibrato so wide that he is actually pulling his notes sharp. :( I still like him though, wish he'd chill on the vibrato though.

  • Totally agree! Totally over ther top!!

A good vibrato is so overlooked by many of todays rock guitarists.

  • best p ever

  • great singing, great guitar works, sykes!

  • that's magic, sykes! great song

  • Great Clip, glad they are carring this on. God bless!

  • ouuu ... this crazy crazy ... and this darlin darlin ... not good :(

    He's not Phil :(

  • best

  • I saw this line up in Dublin a couple of years ago. Great performance by a great band. Yes philo was a great front man but to hear his words still being sung keeps the memories alive.

  • I just love John Sykes!!

  • Was it it only song Gary Moore made with Thin Lizzy that came to record?

After Eric Bell 1973 Gary Moore came, but already 1974 Brian Robertsson to over, right?

  • Nope. After Live and Dangerous was released Gary Moore then joined them to record Black Rose. Then he left and Snowy White joined for Chinatown and Renegade. And then he left and in came John Sykes who recorded Thunder And Lightning and is now a member of the revived Thin Lizzy band.

  • w are you o a b

  • john sykes SIMPLY the best
