how did you breed the black ones? and do both parents have to have black in their genes to have a black baby or can one have black genes and the other not.
@Jockalicious1 Hi, both parents have been original grey, I don´t know who of them has the black gene, or both? I got the parents from a pet shop, the black babies have been a big surprise for me - and a happy fact ...
@MaximilianWeinzierl lol oh, well you're lucky :P im gonna be breeding my opal Platinum with my Argente and she has the black genes but he doesnt. *fingers crossed*
This.... video.... is... awesome! I have four hamsters. started with two... pet store said both girls... guess not lol. well i ended up with 12 total... that was fun. They're so lovable =D and no they are not evil -.- they just like to have their privacy at times. and hint. don't play with them if you have recently eaten food or especially peanut butter XD. The feeding frenzies are hilarious to watch =)
@reecelol12345 no, they do not live together, this group You can see in the video are cubs from one litter, just some weeks old. If grown up and sexually mature they were separated and in particular given away to other dwarf lovers. I think they are rogues. the breeding cage was an aquarium of 50 x 100 cm footprint.
@reecelol12345 in general hamsters are kept as singles; but especially with dwarfs it seemed to be different. Some people keep them as singles, some people keep them as a group if they come from the same litter, others keep a group only with girls. I have no experience in keeping adults as a group, but I think You should try. If they are fighting You have to hold a lot of cages to separate them, or you must have the heart to give them away again.
i had a russian dwarf hamster and retured him to the pet store cus they were so evil. the employee there was funny...
he was like ooooh ur returning a russian dwarf hamster i see. (then he left and came back with a glove) he opened the cage took cookie(the hamsters name) and put him in with another russian dwarf and they started fighting so he took cookie out and cookie bit him and he thru him (not literaly) back into a seprate cage. but yeah ther evil! big time!!!
You are right. these hamsters are usually not gregarious animals. But the hamsters You can see in my movie are brothers and sisters, coming out of one litter They were not evil because they were raised by hand; In this time they are very young and not sexually mature. Later they have been separated and handed to several keepers.

ElghansAnimals101 1 year ago
@ElghansAnimals101 No, definitely not, but they are not so cuddly like goldhamsters; I think, dwarf hamsters don´t like to be touched.

@MaximilianWeinzierl do they all live together peacefully? i was thinking of getting a colony too. how big was your cage/aquarium there?
