This model;is the JPowers 50mm and the stock 850mAh LiPo limits the stock EDF - use a 1300mAh 3S 25C and thrust is increased from 250 gr to 330 gr. This makes a significant difference to speed. I also can run a 1800 3S in her without any need to trim .. because of the speed she flies, she seems to take the extra weight OK. I do have 30 grams added to tail to compensate for steerable nose wheel. Doppler speed checks on 1800 3S 25C pack is 85 - 90Km/hr. Next is to fit a 4S 1000mAh 25C pack.
i almost got out of the hobby, thinking i was a terrible pilot. however, my grandpa got me a hobbyzone champ, and i realised that i don't suck, i had been fooled by nitroplanes. i now fly
this is not a trainer either. it is fast, and gets out of sight VERY fast. a beginner would crash it in the first second. it glides well, and lands nicely, (i know, because i own one) but do NOT buy this as a first model.
2 these are identical to those sold on bananahobby for WAY cheaper than at nitroplanes.
3 in the title it clearly says "trainer". you guys at nitroplanes tricked me into buying a jet as my first plane, saying it "glides beautifully, and flies very slow so it is great for beginners." it was an A-10! it had a glide ratio worse than 1-1, could NOT fly slowly, and was NOT a beginner plane. you tricked me, and it makes me VERY CROSS to see you trying to do it again.
@legoliker7517 The BAe Hawk is a Trainer but also designated capable Ground Attack craft. It may look cute - but its' actually faster than many other Ground Attack craft and highly manoeuvrable. The UK RAF Red Arrows aerobatic display team use it and is the Red colour scheme here. They fly the only 9 full aerobatic sequence team in the world ... plus the synchro pair flypast ... both unique to Red Arrows.
@rocketry1000 yes, but stupid americans only know american planes. likewise, on most british sites the red is the "red arrows" (british aerobatics team) paint scheme, where as american sites just call it the "red" version. it is a Bae hawk, not a t-45 goshawk. the goshawk has a slightly larger nose, and different wings. the Bae hawk is much more awesome because is is BRITISH.
@RCllamadude The T-45 (T45TS)Goshawk is a joint effort of Boeing, BAE and Rolls Royce. Specifications: Wing span: 30 feet 8 inches Length: 38 feet 9 inches Height: 13 feet 1 inch Speed: maximum: 560 knots Ceiling: 50,000 feet Range: maximum: 1,400 nautical miles Power plant: one Rolls-Royce Adour Mk 851 turbofan engine Crew: one instructor, one student Contractor: McDonnell Douglas and British Aerospace Source: DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY -- NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND
from a 12 year old: I had the champ, and it is a great plane. and i then bouht realflight basic, and i trained with thet and i went from that, to the parkzone mosquito, and used the transmitter for the mosquito, and after i mastered the mosquito i bought a exceed rc f 18 with retracts. i would buy one of the parkzone ultra micro t28, f4u corsair, p51 mustang, or any of the ultra mico series 4channel planes, they will bind with your champ transmitter. hope this helps!!!
I have the original red T-45 Tony used for the video and made a couple of "improvements", first I added a servo and steerable nose gear salvaged form a F-18 and used a 1000 mah lipo. I sealed all control surfaces with tape. I get over 3 minutes of flight time and fly the plane almost everyday at the the Whittier Narrows R/C field. I highly recommend this plane for those who have flown higher speed sport planes. It is one of the best EDF value on the market. place.
I bet if you angled the hole toward the battery .It may even whistle in the air too heheh. I`m sure angling the hole would be better. I wonder if you could put lets say a 1000 mAh battery in the plane? You may have to do some cutting, the way the 850 fits in there.
Tony/Nitroplanes ever thought of opening up an outlet some where in Europe? as i think you would do just as well over this side of the pond as you are over your side because the post is just to high on some of he bigger planes ;-( just a thought mate and thumbs up.
@MrBnowak Thanks... Good thing it was windy because the wind helped saved the plane from crashing. As all pilots we hate to crash any plane after all the time spent building and setting up the plane. A day with a crash free landing is a great day lol
hey Tony, Great job on the flight review.. I have a question.. Does that front landing wheel steer at all?? Can you put a bigger battery in? what are the specs on the ESC?
@CrazyEnergy2 Nope the front does not steer. It's locked. The stock battery is a 3s 850mah battery but you could fit a battery that is a little bit bigger. But since this is a small plane any extra weight will affect the flight performance. The ESC is a 20a and can handle a 2s-3s battery.
what makes this a trainer? doesnt seem to fly like one, looks like youd need experience to fly this though, does it hold up to crashes like regular high wing trainers or what?
@gruzergrub5000 No this model is not a trainer plane. Sorry the name can be confusing. The real actual plane was indeed a trainer. This plane does fly fast as with all planes anything can happen in a crash. But the plane is made out of a very durable foam and I have had a few times when I though the plane would be a gonner but it held up really well.
@dangerousprimate i jus thought you should call it its proper name..thats all Tony..no badness meant dude..always watch and enjoy your vids...peace dude !
So which edf jet would you recommend for my first edf, since I have been flying regular 3 and 4 channel planes perfectly fine, I want a good and durable edf since edf's are much faster than your tradition plane.
@mikajmd For your first edf jet I would recomend the sapac 64mm t45 that is what I learned on and it is the best edf trainer jet out there. Click on my name to see my channel I have some videos on there if you want to watch them.
Actually I would recommend a bigger 70mm EDF like the F16. Im my opinion if you can fly a 4ch plane you should not have any problem with the F16. Any smaller EDF's will be very small and can get away from sight very quick.
@bakonlicious Pice can be found on the link in the description box. As long as you don't fly too slow and stall the plane it will fly. Since this is a smaller plane it will not be able to fly as slow as the larger planes. Max speed I would say over 60mph but I didn't radar it so I would be lying if I said it was any faster :) But this plane is fast
