Hey man I saw your Blackhawk interview at the shot show and really dig the Xiphos serpa holster combo but why can't they make it with a green laser and an inside the waist holster combo? have to disagree on the 10mm or any pistol round as good bear defense. You should use whatever you can obviously but to be safe you really need a good sized rifle round or some heavy slugs/00buck. in idaho's bear country i take either my 590 or my -06 with a 180 or 220 grain bullet. its added weight but if a bear charges i dont want chance to play a role in the outcome. i try to remember that animals are always in survival mode

i think we have it rigged up pretty good in here in holland.

u can own guns if u want them, but u have to prove yourself to a shooting club/range first.

the people who actually observe you shooting have a veto right on your applications.

kinda long periods though, a year for owning, then another year for keeping it at home.

and even then u must have it in a special safelike gun case or closet, and thres a limit on ammo.

kind of a bother, but it does keep them out of the hands of idiots.

I come from Tahoe and know for a fact that a local black bear was shot with a .44 mag in the head. The round bounced off, and the bear still lives. Pistols and bears dont mix.

Actually listing those things really hit home just how ruthlessly denied the freedom is in the UK. Thats just the tip of the iceberg too. It isnt just guns we are denied, its pretty much everything else. You cant drive without fear of a spedd camera which results in high fines and penalty points , hi insurance, you get taxed highly on everything, you cant park your car without having to pay unless its a supermarket and even then they will clamp your car and fine you if you take too long

Sadly you would have to have permission from the land owner of the land you would be hiking. And on publicly owned land its illegal to have an air pistol, air soft. The same rules apply for vehicles e.g offroad motorcycle. Even camp fires, tents, or even the hiking itself if on privately owned land. You cant even fish without persmionn in privately owned streams, lakes, ponds, rivers etc. Cant legally fish in most public rivers, ponds etc and even the ones you can you will need a license.

I personnaly don't have a huge problem with the laws on fire arms, while i am very enthusiastic about them i don't like the idea of them being carried by people my age, i know what we are like.

However with regards to alot of these hiking laws it pisses me off, it seems so unnecassary to completely ban everything like our government does. I don't want to have to break the law to do what i want.

Yes im not sure that easier access to firearms in modern Britain would necesarily be a good thing. But thats a result of cultural decline and social problems. i dont think that post war kids in Britain would of been shooting or stabbing or beating each other to death as they are today. And gun violence rapidly went up from the late 80s onwards, regardless of the law. So I dont see the gun as the issue. And yes, they ban anything or tax the hell out of it if people enjoy it. Basically you cant do shit in the UK. But taking a .22 air pistol or rifle up into the woods or any of the things I mentioned can be done if you are prepared to break the law. Be sensible and whos gonna know if your backpack has a tent, .22 air pistol, fishing rod, survival knife, fire making material etc. Just dont get caught and especially be careful with the air gun as if someone spotted you with it they may call the armed police and get you shot, or land owners may in extreme cases shoot you

It's legal to carry air rifle on public land if it's covered. And put tent off trail but keep it tidy where you are its when there is a mess that its a problem.
