  • How can this noise be felt in the house?

  • Is this also an AC?

  • Sounds like a compressor....get it replaced and it will be quiet.... looks like the unit was dented somehow....the compressor sits on springs inside the housing and can be damaged easily. It must have gone into defrost and then shut off because the thermostat satisfied? Scroll compressors are loud.

  • @TheChaseair Scroll compressors are quieter than reciprocating compressors.

  • nice and quiet

  • Heat pumps are certainly the way to go.

  • looks nice

  • looks new is it good

  • @anitarentz yes.. it runs great

  • @rondev - These seem to be good units. My cousin's A/c co. does Trane, Goodman and Nordyne. I went with Westinghouse (Nordyne; looks just the same, as the maytag, except for the finish. ) to replace a problematic 10 year old lenox. The Nordyne has the BEST warranty out of the 3,& my cousin has 2 Nordynes in his home. Mine, (properly installed) is quiet, and thus far (1 yr) has been trouble free and I'm impressed with the unit's heat pump ability.

  • all these years i been living,i NEVER IN MY LIFE knew that maytag make a/c units/heat pumps,i'm shocked,i thought it just appliances!

  • since when did maytage expand into heat pumps and away from appliances

  • thats horrible!

  • That install was brutal. What was he, 10 years old?

  • Maytag makes heat pumps? I totally did not know this!

  • what do you expect when price is your main concideration?

  • @lazyestarranch Price wasnt the main consideration and it was far from the cheapest. We are totally happy how the local distributor ( not the installer, they arent allowed on the property ever again) came to the party and got us sorted out.. the entire outside unit was replaced and then he showed up out of the blue a little while later to follow up. We hear the neighbors unit over ours now. so its So far so good with 12 years of warranty ahead of us.

  • The should stand behind that Nordyne garbage.

  • @byzofsumma57 nordyne makes the best equipment out there we have sold nordyne for 35 years

  • @JSBSCHWARTZ1 i agree, i've worked for companies that have sold trane and rheem for years and now i work for this company that sells nothing but frigidaire, kelvinator, maytag etc ((nordyne)) and i must say we have very little to no problems with their heat pumps and air conditioners compared to rheem and trane.,, although a lot of heat pumps with scrolls are awfully loud during defrost regardless of their brand. , louder than recips

  • @byzofsumma57 let me guess u love train or rheem lol

  • at around 1:55 or before i thought i saw a spark or a flame from inside the unit. its very faint.

  • i saw it too, what was that

  • yeah i saw it too... it was some sort of a spark.

  • thats just the drops of rain water dripping from the fan grill

  • Even the best manufactures have a lemon slip through here and there but I can tell you that Maytag will stand behind their equipment. Was this installed by a certified Maytag dealer? If so, he should have fixed this unit immediately.

  • just to add to this.. Maytag did come to the party and clean this up... the unit was replaced and we are very happy with it now.. their local rep/installer however will never set foot on our property again though.

  • who ever installed this needs to get fired

  • wow noisy
