The discharge tube is 120mm long, inner diam. is 2mm, the outer is 8mm. There is no motivation for the wall thickness except for availability. In general, thin walls should be preferred in regard to heat transfer. However, the test run shown here did not manage to cause serious heating. It does not have to be quarz glass.
Very impressive work. I know how you feel regarding the length of time to complete projects like these. I have been working on a cascade style drift tube for quite some time now(2 years at least). Keep up the experimentation!
