  • Better than on the ground

  • I was actually on this work up right before our deployment. The wheel in fact did get caught, and we lost four of that crew, one was a Navy Corpsman, and I believe a Cpl. A Lance Corporal, and a Lt. which lived, and saved I think two other crew. The bird turned over in the water, and the pods on the side never opened up, when the bird turned over the sailor, and Marines got caught in the upper read door that is usually open, or propped up during short flights. I was in Blt. 1/4 Charlie Co.

  • Do that more often.

  • Came in too hot for starters then the machine began to what they call ''Settling With Power''. The instant reaction by the pilot is to pull collective which he did to soft'n the blow but then it bounces catching the left rear landing gear on the gaurd rail. Un be-known to the pilot, he continues to pull collective causing Dynamic Roll Over. Once you are past the point of ''no return'', there is no recovery. Its a real shame, the pilot should of allowed the machine to settle were it landed.

  • @viper11159 The wheel doesn't get caught, that flimsy barrier wouldn't have bought it down, as you can see when the helicopter hits the water the barrier is very weak. What happens is the difference in lift because one set of blades is over the drop on one over the deck. When the helicopter rotates to the left the left side of the craft is trying to get to the same altitude as the right hand side. It must be a good 25m difference. This causes the craft to topple.

  • @tatewakikuno thats what I was thinking,,the deck of the ship was so close on one side,,and the chopper was hovered over the deck and the back blades were suspended over the ocean--i mean the closeness of the deck on the front blades were way diff,,wich caused a shit,,you can see it there. if you watch close and dont make dumbass comments like these other idiots.

  • Looks like the rear left wheel got caught on the barrier

  • yes but it was a E landing lost control of the heli thay thot it was the Giro on the heli that don it

  • wen u see it, ull shit brix

  • its called a chinook it is my fav heli

  • lame taste dude :p

  • This is a CH-46 Sea Knight. Chinook is CH-47 and a lot bigger.

  • @cheatmongul That was a Navy CH-46 Sea Knight. I spent 4 years running under them on the flight deck. The Chinook CH-47 is an Army helo. Much bigger and has 4 sets of wheels, the CH-46 only has three.

  • Australians always crash they cant fly why mess with big machines........shame...

  • thats not cool

  • Just looks so careless, stupid.. standard landing, whoops cant control this expensive machine, crash into the sea like a schmuck.

  • I'm sure it was that simple. Expert analysis from tqsuited sitting on his ass at home.

  • splash lol

  • they all died man!!!!!

  • Daed them?

  • Waste of life.

  • I remember this incident. The were training/practising landing on a hostile ship (they were an airborne boarding party). That is why they came in so fast. (obviously they were too low).

  • Why the fuck was he coming into land that fast and at that angle?! Just look how they r landing and the speed hes going, its no suprise they crashed. Shame thow, all them people on bord may be killed for one guy showing off show off (its what it looks like to me any way).

  • There was a show about this incident on TV. 18 Marines were on board, 7 of them died.

  • XAXAXAX DAMM MISSSS!!

  • there dead R.I.P

  • omg

  • If all you can think about is how many tax dollars this cost you then you are f***ed in the head. Please stop being a failure in life and go become something besides an overweight loser.

  • Your tax dollars hard at work. Hope everyone was ok.

  • i wouldve jumped so fast into that water

  • and do what

  • Drown

  • I think coryv235 would very quickly reconsider his actions when either the entire helicopter landed on him, or a rotor sliced him in half...

  • lol

  • probably xD...

  • sniperelite111 probably couldn't hit his ass with a map, both hands and a spotter.

  • Now see, this just shows how drunk and stupid you are. This crash (CH49 Crash off bow of USNS Pecos, 9 Dec 1999) happened because of failed communication and preparation on the boat, and error on the part of one of the aircrew technicians. Try not to be such a fucking asshole, you might live longer.

And to mick: I think you have the wrong accident, because it wasn't due to engine trouble and several of the aicrew and Marine passengers were rescued. But several others did drown.

  • the only reason it sunk so fast was because the propellers hit water i knew a guy who flew over a lake and he barely let the blades touch

  • unfortunately all onboard the helicopter perished, it was making an emergency landing due to engine trouble which resulted in a sudden loss of power, hence the dodgy landing attempt

  • RIP from Canada.

  • oh yeah? how the heck do you know?

  • No they did not! I work with a guy who was on it, he is very much alive. That is called "Dynamic Rollover" it is unique to helicopters. Bad crew coordination and pilot error. A really big deal when landing big heavy helos on ships.

  • Wow thats just incredible!

  • Hard to believe it sunk that fast. More would of survived if it could of floated at least one minute to allow escape time.

  • thats me on battlefield 2 BELIEVE IT!

  • Looks like he might of had a few to many beers and women the night before in Pattay.

  • People would have died in that crash and your talking about how bad BF2 is!

  • You're a faggot.

  • tbh i am a faggot for playing world of shitcraft , but thank God i quit 4 months ago :D

Gj necro-ing this comment btw, kid.

  • Being called a kid by a 14 year old is hilarious.

    Grats, gamerfag.

  • Okay, kid. Rage out on youtube moar ?

Thanks captain obvious, what's bad about enjoying entertainment? LOL You sir, are just a duplicate cheap meat like a big mac.

  • 99percentSkill. You hacked nothin' so you still suck.

  • sucks to be him!

  • brits.

  • Deamo 2 fuck u americans

  • Shit, I hope the guys were ok.?

  • 6 Marines and one Sailor died.

    11 Marines survived.

The helicopter sank in in 3600 feet of water, but all remains were eventually recovered.

  • Damn.Well i feel for the famaliys of the lost Marines and Saloirs.

  • did this guy survive the incident at least?

  • yes sir, he survived, they have oxygen masks so he was pretty close to death

  • and was there circasim involved in that?

  • zuhahahahahahah good good

  • must have been an emergency landing. that pad is way to small for a helo that size. normaly an sh60 will hover back there for 5 to 15 minutes before landing. i used to sneak back there and watch through the door window, during a landing. hope they made it.

  • looks like it ay. I remember when i first say this video a few years back (im a naval helo pilot myself) i thought 'that guy cannot be serious!' i mean, who comes in for any landing like that? :|

i just hope im not so unfortunate :)

  • dang... RIP

  • It sounds like someone is shooting the copter

  • sure what ever. not true. it is so funny

  • yeah...shooting the helicopter...on a friendly naval ship...

    top job bozo

  • After that incident, the safety netting is now below the poop deck. most vessals have done this.

  • At what point did they shit themselves

  • I'll bet a woman was driving.

  • you dont drive a helicopter you tard. and it takes years of training for someone to be allowed near one in the field.

  • Women drivers = no survivors.

    It's a fact.

  • well my response to that is:

    you must be an american

and you have very screwed up sources of facts

  • wtf...

  • Hey, geniusiknowit...

In the brains market a mans brain is about USD 2,000, while a womans brain is a max 580 if it's over 20 years.

Just like cars, the price goes down when it's used...

-And that fact is more reliable than anything I ever saw from you!

  • quick! help them...

  • were those guys okay?

  • i saw that on funnyjunk and it's not funny at all.

  • I'm told the Army folks call the CH-47 Chinook (similar) the "Shithook"

  • Apparently..wow the guys who analised this video are blind..you can see it clear as day

  • feel sorry to those died

  • This Ch-46 Seaknight accident happened 12/9/99 It crashed while attempting to land on the Navy tanker PECOS during a training exercise. The chopper's landing gear apparently snagged a metal safety net and the helicopter flipped over into the water and sank. Eleven Marines were rescued by SEALS, six Marines and a sailor drowned

  • thas very sad :(

  • That's a badass video, but I wonder if anyone was hurt, or how bad? :o
