Great video. Good detail on your "custom" set-up and techniques.
Questions: Is that the Granberg MK III ?
It looks like you've re-enforced it with some riveted splints. Did you do that preventively, or did you have problems with the Mill?
Is that white pine?
And who cares how much time it took to make that beam? If you're using your own trees or windfall it's "free" wood you get from spending your time doing something you obviously enjoy. An hour of that is better than one spent watching TV
OHH by the way... the MS660 has brass balls - this bad boy will do anything you can sink it into...U gotta have the CC's to run a mill like this... I use an 064 Stihl.. Same results..and get urself a a good ripping chain and bar for ur saw! Makes little ones out of big ones. Check Baileys on line for stuff! GranBerg a little more expensive! Northern Tool has these toys on sale right now. Check it Out!! Don't forget an edger tool if you want to make dimension lumber. Good Shit!!!!!!
Hay Dar - Love the ladder effect with the angle iron slabbing brackets. Good job and the vid looks good. Build urself a castle and have fun doin it!! Good Luck to you and Thanks for the post. GD
Are you happy with the Alaskan / MS660 combo? I've got to slice up a Doug Fir beam that's about 10"x14" or so. Do you think the 660 is powerful enough, may I ask?
Very nice video. Well done. I'm trying to figure out how to build one of these or just buy one, not sure yet. Your vid offered a lot of good angles. Have an 064 so I think it should work well. What kind of camera were you using? Very clear shots. Thanks again, Ryan
