@SuperCstyle123: Good question. I don't know if openssl can directly encrypt binary files, but you can convert a binary files to ascii using base64, then use openssl. I've yet to do a video on base64, but @arthursucks has done one or two good ones:
@Inwarwetrustful if you sent an encrypted message to your grandfather in Cuba and it WAS intercepted by either government, both you and your grandfather would be monitored very closely for the rest of your lives....
@Inwarwetrustful: OpenSSL works on Windows. I haven't tried it, but if you google "openssl windows" you should find what you are looking for. You also may want to look into using Steghide. I don't think I've done a video on it, but I will soon. it not only encrypts the message, but it hides it in a jpeg or mp3 files. That way they don't even know that you are trying to hide something.
Thanks. I really liked this video. It's easy to do and it works. I messed around with it and I found out that there is a difference between the original file and the decrypted file. The decrypted file reads the same, however, it is write protected. It cannot be written to unless you are the superuser (in root mode).
@John8pie: OpenSSL is Open-Source, and like most Open-Source Programs, is cross-platform. I've never used it in Windows, but do a Google search for OpenSSL Windows and you should find what you need.
Encrypt message with ROT13, then encrypt it with openssl, and then encrypt it with gpg, then it should be pretty hard to crack(When using long different passwords for both). When it comes to gpg at least, it mostly depends on the password since I don't think anyone have been able to crack the algorithm. x)
I guess you should have some pretty secret things to hide if you do it like that heh. :)
Can you make a video using windows. You know encypting text message in windows.

USA government monitors its citizens via NSA. In the land of the freedom and in EU both have become
monitoring and overriding human rights states... Funny u bring up Cuba.. All you know or heard about Cuba
you have read in the Amercian controlled right wing neo-con press...

Imo gpg is better, i mean commands are shorter. But this is fun too ;)

gpg uses PKI, the way the video shows, openssl uses a shared password.

@Immutable92: That doesn't happen for me. Are you sure you didn't run one of the commands as root?
metalx1000 1 year ago
That was your chance to use the diff command to show they were the same

It's funny the encryption has "Sand" in it.
Is there something like this available for Windows? I've tried GPG on Windows but I get "no OpenPGP available" or something along those lines.

if you just want to encrypt some files than truecrypt is a much better choice then openssl

@metalx1000, i made a search and i found this:
Application of the products?
GnuPG protects email communication as well as documents stored on a computer.
OpenSSL is used for on-line applications such as secure browser communication over the Internet.
FreeS/WAN (IPSec) is used for Virtual Private Network (VPN).

@Kris ... is not better to use OpenPGP (gpg or gpg2), a better way for encryption?
Nice Video
